It's such night and day from the Amtrak train video of how perfectly timing shinkansen are almost always running, I'm glad you got to capture both trains and your experience. I just recently came back from a trip from Japan and was highly impressed with their train systems along with just how much you really don't need a car in japan to go anywhere. Your Japanese is really impressive how did you learn to speak it so well?
I think the difference between Amtrak and Japan is government pride and responsibility. While Amtrak is government owned the government takes no pride or responsibility for its operation while in Japan its a matter of personal pride for its workers and the government
And, train operators in Japan are safe in assuming that riders will use trains, and not destroy them or cause scenes. Here, you can offer people nice things, charge money for them, and they'll be appreciated. It's a very nice system but it relies on everyone being decent and reasonable
Loved your video! My partner and I are actually planning on going there in a few weeks, very excited to ride the panda Kuroshio Line. Might I suggest a little background music to fill in the gaps of silence/when you're talking? I think it'll help further engage viewers in your future videos! Looking forward to your future travels!
Thank you very much for the comments. I agree - sometimes I put music, sometimes I don't, but it might have been good in this video. Hope you enjoy your own Kuroshio trip!
Where did everybody go in the waiting room? You scared them all away. Great vlog Jeremy. We watched this one as a family tonight since we love train travel. Great info given even when you were not supposed to be talking 🤐
That waiting room kept filling and then emptying as other trains would show up. I was just much earlier than most people for my train! Thanks for watching, glad you liked the trip. More coming!
Very interesting video! You seem to speak the language well. Impressive that the trains are on time much like the trains in Germany. Obviously, you enjoy the trains in Japan a lot more than your Amtrac auto train experience. Based on your videos of each, I can see why. Good & safe travels!
Thanks! I've ridden quite a few trains here in Japan, and they're impressively on time. I don't know why they're able to do that so well here, except that it's just a priority, and people are dedicated to keeping to a schedule
This was so great, Jeremy! Thanks for taking me (us) along. What's the difference between Western and Eastern hotel rooms? Toilets? Did you get to pet a panda? -- charlie, sacramento CA
The toilets are probably the same, but the Japanese room would have tatami straw mats on the floor and a futon (like a thick blanket) bed put out in the evening. The Western is just regular carpet and a full furniture-type bed with a desk. Unfortunately I didn't go to Adventure World, so no live panda for me. Maybe they should add that as an amenity on the train 😁 Thanks for watching, as always!
"Be gone! I'm doing a video," I bellowed, and the passengers fled (Actually this kept happening. Everyone was waiting for other more frequent regular trains, so they'd sit for a couple minutes then clear out. Nobody else was daft enough to arrive as early as I did for their train)
He speaks the language! Well I'm dead in the water right there I'm definitely NOT a linguist! Well he lived there a few years WHY did he ever leave is what I wanna know! I mean these are the smartest people in the world (example: They back IN to perpendicular parking spaces).
And I did try to video that whole farcical dash, but in the confusion, when I got back on board I saw that I hadn't properly pressed the record button 😣

I've lived in Japan a few years. Mostly I use English but have picked up enough Japanese to get by here and there

Rail travel just isn’t prioritized in the US like in Europe and Asia. It’s probably that more than pride.
Agreed
This is an underrated video. Keep it up
Thank you!
Taking the trouble to learn Japanese is so impressive
Thanks for the detailed review of the train ride, it was very impressive and took me into a part of Japan that I've never heard of before.
I finally got a chance to watch this on your previous recommendation, Jeremy! It didn't disappoint! Thank you! 🙂
Great! Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching

background music sucks. I appreciate NOT having it myself! good choice there.
Wow, the station is so clean! It reminds me of UK railway stations.
i like what you do and the style! thank you and good luck! subscribed after watching Norway
Thanks, hope you check out my northern Norway road trip videos as well :)
@@T1DWanderer i did )) it is good!
Another adventure!! Thanks.
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed this ride :)

Waiting room is full as T1D Wanderer enters. Suddenly waiting room is empty as he sits. 🙂
Train bento is ekiben, 駅弁. ☺️
An awesome aspect of Japan

As I'm watching this video I just got a friend suggestion from Panda 🐼 on Snapchat 😂. No joke

Speaking a bit of Japanese does help get you a seat on the side of the train you want ;)
Thanks for watching again
Well we back in here too.
Any plans visiting Tartu once again?
Would be nice!
@@T1DWanderer Tartu has changed a lot. I recommend you visit in the summer of 2024, as then it is the European capital of culture!
Seeing this collaboration with adventure world i'm wondering why Disney has nothing to do with the Auto train with their own cars etc... would be nice
Speed coffee! Gangway!
And I did try to video that whole farcical dash, but in the confusion, when I got back on board I saw that I hadn't properly pressed the record button 😣
How long it took you to learn Japanese?
I still only speak basic Japanese, enough to buy tickets and order in restaurants (usually). So, several years... so far!
Lovely to watch until after being told not to talk on your phone. You're talking on your phone. What the heck?
Did she say ,your not supposed to talk in public on your phone
We are always reminded of proper manners here, and by and large people obey. Makes for a nice atmosphere, to be honest
@T1DWanderer lol.well u kept talking..
😀❤👍
Thanks for watching!
Hi, may I know how can you speak Japanese fluently? Can you explain to me? Because i like to travel in Japan, thankyou
Well I don't speak it fluently, just enough to get by in most situations. I learned by living in Japan for several years
Don't you have a traveling companion sometimes?
Sometimes I do
@@T1DWanderer Thank's
Why are so many passengers wearing masks?
To prevent the spread of sickness, or help with hayfever, etc
✌👍
