Good video as ever. - That's the only advantage of living in the UK. You can go out, pass a field of cows and sheep, then perhaps some maize, - field or two of grass (for silage) or hay, a bit farther on and some barley, oats, or cornfields, - 15 miles on and fields of sprouts, cabbages, cauliflower, even potatoes. Then some apple, cherry, or pear orchards, even strawberry fields. Perhaps one or two "specialist farms" (in between) that grow lettuce, spring onions, carrots, or (tomatoes in giant greenhouses). All that you could do no more than about 50 miles from where I used to live. Oh yes and by then you would have reached "The Coast" so why not buy some, 'fresh off the boat', (and it sure was), Shellfish, Oysters, Crab, Lobster, and of course Fresh Fish. - You wouldn't have known what to film first. - Have I made your mouth water as well.????
I wish that kind of variety was so close for me.. I live close to the coast so I do have access to fresh, awesome seafood.. but I have to travel about 2 and a half to 3 hours to see corn and wheat.. I didn't even know we grew wheat this far south until a couple weeks ago. I'm scared to think how many miles I will put on my truck this season lol .. thanks for watching !
I went on wheat harvest with my dad every summer when I was a kid. We'd start in Southwest Oklahoma and finish in North Dakota. Then we'd go home in the Oklahoma Panhandle for corn and milo harvest. I spent a bunch of time in combine and tractor cabs.
Man that sounds awesome ! This same farm plants milo which I have also never seen. I might try and make a trip back in September when they're harvesting that.
Great video as always. At one time a lot of farms used to grow winter wheat after the soybeans been harvested. Don't see that in the Houma area where I worked anymore.
I thought I’d have to go a lot further north to see this .. luckily a farmer in that area contacted me a couple weeks ago to see if I’d be interested in going film
That intro is way to cool. I went to ville platte a few weeks ago and they were cutting wheat. It was my first time seeing it as well. I was scratching my for a few seconds trying figure out what it was
Excellent video! Believe I took a picture of that combine couple months ago when I passed through cheneyville parked by a shed. Don't know if you know where the town of evergreen is in avoyelles parish but this past weekend there were two john deere s680 combines with 40' mac dons cutting wheat. They were on soucy tracks with some very large rear floater tires.
Not offhand I don't.. I only very recently even learned that there was wheat this far south.. There's a lot around there I'd like to go film.. but its a 3 hour drive lol ..
@@AerialAg yeah the cheneyville area has alot of great farms there. There is a decent amount of wheat grown here in avoyelles too. I am not too good with directions but if you know where the sunshine equipment john deere dealer in bunkie is then the farm I was talking about is less than 10 minutes from there. Anyway always enjoy your great videos.
@@Cenlafarmtoys I'm going to have to try and get back up there during corn and soybean harvest.. If you hear of anyone in that area getting an X9 please let me know.. I'm on the hunt to see one this year. Thanks for watching!
@@AerialAg I don't know of any farm here who got an x9 but if I see one I will let you know. The guy who farms the field by my house just upgraded his 9770 to a s780 combine. And there is a farm right outside my hometown that has a fully restored big bud h.n. 250 but they only use it to disk down corn stubble in the fall.
Man the one part of the field looks heavy all laying down and the other looks like what Welkers combine in Montana, header down n stick her in road gear, lol
Thanks 🙏🏿 a couple of questions. Can you use the same equipment to cultivate rice? I would like some training or some voluntary work experience for a couple of weeks or so to pick up some vital skills, would that be possible?
This farm also harvests rice so I'd assume they use the same cultivation equipment. However, I'm not a farmer nor for I work for a farm. I just make these videos as a hobby.
@@AerialAg HI good video as usual and I like the 'new' intro, - short, sweet, and doesn't go on forever, like some. I would say that combine with the width of those tracks and rear tyres could very easily be used to harvest rice. They look to me to be LGP jobs. Believe it or not I have seen them on steel tracks doing rice, mind you they were JD's, - I thought they looked funny, (between fields), as the front 'tracked' part was on a little 'dolly' - (obviously it couldn't run on a highway), with the rear combine wheels on the road, still pulling the 'header' (as usual on it's trailer), and the whole lot towed by a tractor.
@@christopherlovelock9104 Oh yes this farm does harvest rice.. This combine has a rice package installed which is needed since rice causes so much wear on the machine.. I thought his question was more about cultivating as in working the soil.. Oh and thanks about the intro.. been wanting to do that for a while now.
@@AerialAg More about the size of the 'tracks and tyres' and 'overall' comment in general to your video, and about what you can see over here, - but then our Country is tiny compared to your great expanses and the sizes of your fields. I think the headers have to be smaller even on those machines with rice growing due to the soft ground don't they.?
@@christopherlovelock9104 Not really, the farm I visit sometimes that runs an S790 uses a 40 foot header in rice. And another rice farmer I'm hoping to see this year is getting an X9.. Can't imagine that it will have a small header lol... Regarding tires, rice farmers often get the big LSW "floater" tires.
@@chasecavalier6316 I know one end of the field was damaged by flood waters from all the rain we've been having. They didn't say anything about humidity
6:55 door swinger. always enjoyed the fields next to the interstate
Great video, good content and no stupid unnecessary background music.
It's perfect
Good luck my friend
