Tiny Toons haunted me as a child, I was about 8 at the time and still remember the one level which kept me from ever completing the game. I remember a city-themed level with an abundance of pipes to go through and I never found a way out. I really got frustrated as I slowly died to enemies and quit playing it

You know on the topic of Game Boy, I had an Idea for something a bit interesting. So if they ever release the Game Boy Classic, I'd love to see it packaged with a Super Game Boy Classic as well, and see it do something like the Switch! (Maybe base it around the Super Game Boy 2, since the original had some kinks that needed to be worked out)
Super Mario Land 2 is my favorite handheld Mario. It's small but it crams a wide variety of stages into an early-90s GB game. And it spun-off into the Wario Land games, which are fun plays in their own right.
It's just the games were good and most importantly - it was cheap! You could buy link's awakening, Wario Land, Mario Land 2, Pokemon, plus included Tetris for the same price as 2 Sonic games on game gear. Also, battery times.
I remember for Christmas getting a Gameboy advanced, this video reminds me of the good memories i had with that device (even if it isn't a Gameboy exactly)

I had a green Game Boy Color, and exactly four games for it. Super Mario Land, the GBC port of Donkey Kong Country, the Michael Keaton Batman movie game, and Bugs Bunny & Lola Bunny. I eventually got a blue Game Boy Advance SP along with the Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance & Aria of Sorrow double pack, and that was easily one of the best purchases I've ever made. I never had Pokémon. I never gave a flaming flip about Pokémon.
The story about how you got Yoshi made me think "Well, give the kid some credit, he may have been a horrible liar about having an extra Game Boy Camera, but he at least gave you *something* instead of leaving you completely in the cold."
In my opinion, both Super Mario Land & Tiny Toons Adventures ~ Bab's Big Break have the best ending music of all Game Boy games I've played back in the days ( _links_ _below_ ). I used to replay both of these games over and over again just to hear those sounds, as well as it being very good games ( _especially_ _Bab's_ _Big_ _Break_ _being_ _a_ _real_ _hidden_ _gem_ ). I think the one game I played the most was Link's Awakening, Followed up the the Mega Man titles, but I do remember spending a lot of time with the Final Fantasy Adventure series. Since Final Fantasy was my first RPG, finding out there was several titles on the Game Boy made me want to hunt down any copy. I was finally able to get a hold of both 2 and 3 and was blown away in just how ... different they where. FFA2 had this strange shattered goddess statue story and FFA3 was all about how the past, present and Future where getting flooded by a strange object. So I spent some time trying to find the first one. Eventually I found out that Final Fantasy Adventure 1 was actually the first of the Secret of Mana series that played more akin to it! That's why I always loved the Game Boy. It always has strange surprises coming out of the little grey brick! Ya my first was the original :D Now you're playing with POWER, PORTABLE POWER!! ... sorry :P
I think you're a bit confused here. There's only one Final Fantasy Adventure. It was, as you mentioned, the first Mana game. Secret of Mana is the second game in that series. Then there's the Final Fantasy Legend games. There's three of those on the GameBoy, but they're actually part of the SaGa series (followed by the three Romancing SaGa games on SNES). They feature all kinds of funky stuff like mutants, robots and monsters that transform into other monsters by eating their meat.
The Game Boy had amazing titles, but I didn't have most of them myself. Kirby's Dream Land 2 was the main one I played as a kid, but other games I had were like...Star Trek TNG and...Pyramids of Ra...soooo...yeah.
4:55 This was definitely a big problem with Konami's games being localized back then. Games like Castlevania 3 and Contra Hard Corps were made much more difficult, possibly due to the fact that they wanted you to buy the games instead of just renting them, since that made them more money.
I barely have memories of playing my Gameboy Pocket. But I do remember playing Kirby Star Stacker, Pokemon Blue, Donkey Kong '94, Mario Land 2, and Donkey Kong Land 2 (Which caused me to say my first cuss word and get in trouble lol)
Holy shit someone who's authentic first impression of Pokemon was "it's like Dragon quest" I'm so used to giving people the "um aktually" about how Pokemon is a Dragon quest game with the difficulty cranked down and an emphasis on collecting monsters

Babs' Big Break never really felt that difficult to me. I remember that the game starts over after you beat it, but you only start with a single heart. It was decent, but it wasn't a particularly memorable game for me. The sequel, Montana's Movie Madness, on the other hand...

Underrated classic, easily one of my favorite games on the system, despite me being born after the release of this game, and I played it when I was _20 and a half years old,_ emulated on the 3DS's Virtual Console!! Why? _Stardroids._ I was invested in a story I had created involving these Stardroids at the time, and I couldn't bear the urge anymore, so I put $50 on my 3DS and purchased that baby and cleared it off in a matter of days!
Your game boy camera story kind of reminds me of when it was my birthday last year and I said to my friend as a joke "buy me shrek smash and crash racing for the ds" He apparent bought the game but he kept on forgetting to bring it into school, last I heard he returned it back to seller. Bull crap I say, he was just lieing, then again it was a Shrek game so I wasn't really missing out.
I remember playing Pokémon Gold for hours that I got to the Elite 4 right when I hit the 20 hour mark, and they whooped my ass. 5 hours of grinding later I whooped their ass, one of the best moments of my childhood.

It's crazy to me that the original game boy was so successful with it green screen. I was not a fan of it based on the color alone.

The Pokemon game was in color, while the others weren't. Were you recording it on a Gameboy Color,, Gameboy Advance or an emulator with color filters?
