I played this song almost every night when I was in Afghanistan. I tried never to kill innocent people because of this song. Thank you Peter for getting me through the hardest time in my life!
It was a wonderful show but I have to say that whatever that piano player was trying to do there at the end was utterly jarring and wrong for the moment. It took the audience out of it considerably at the show I went to. It was the only moment of the whole night that wasn't pure magic.
This is the ONLY critical review I have even given Peter Gabriel, or a Peter Gabriel song, and it is on one of my all-time favorites, "In Your Eyes." The song was excellent up to the duet with the backup singer. The gold standard for this part has to be either Paula Cole or Savarah. The female vocals should be soaring and joyful, this duet being the highlight of the song. Unfortunately, the singer either didn't know how to do it right, or did not have the capacity. But BY FAR, the thing that killed this amazing song was the piano bit near the end. WTF? It had NOTHING to do with the song. It sounded random and tuneless. Just my opinion, but I have seen every Peter Gabriel, Genesis and Phil Collins tour since 1975 - so I can speak with some authority on the changes from tour to tour. The concert was great overall, but this song really let me down.
I still havent seen the movie this song goes to but it sure is a beautiful song.
Ein sehr schönes Lied ❤❤❤
First gig with my 12 year old daughter: wonderful!
It was the best concert ever. Such an amazing talent, his voice is still pitch perfect. The different stage backgrounds ideas etc were fantastic ❤
Was there with my best buddy Fathers day presents for us both ! Brilliant night , Saw him last in Dublin in 1993 !
One of the absolute great songs of the 20th century.
Great gig last night to end the European Tour, Peters voice still sounds amazing! Manu Katche was terrific as always.
