I’ve literally been looking for a video about this for three years now and I’ve watched a bunch of your da Vinci stuff too. Really really appreciate you making this one

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate this idea. I watched it a month or so ago and though "heh, cool idea, too bad I don't have any reason at all to do that" but then a week or so ago I started to get some kind of repetitive stress injury in my mouse hand. So I figured I'd try it out with my steam controller and it's brilliant. I can actually edit at about the same speed as I used to, at least for the bulk of the work, but without the hand strain and pain since it's using different muscles.
You may have literally saved my UA-cam channel. :)
Also, thank you for all of the other tutorials on Davinci Resolve 14. They have been super helpful.

Using this video as a button layout reference for using my steamdeck to edit! Steam has AMAZING controller customization options! I'm running windows off an SD card and plug in an external drive containing my offline projects. Super awesome and it runs premiere great!

I did this to edit sports clips a few years ago and man it made work so much fun. Console controllers are designed to basically become an extension of us and make the game experience as frictionless (maybe addictive) as possible. So I guess just the inbuilt comfy vibes of using one will make it easier over time to make work seem like a game rather than work.
Recently switched over to davinci resolve and haven't even taken the speed editor for a spin yet...think I'm gonna try this again first.
    Great video!

hey thanks I've been doing this and it makes my editing experience like a game! Simple and fun- after so many years its hard to make the experience different- I've had small keypads do the same idea- but a game controller makes it feel quite different.

This is genius. I just had the thought of doing something similar and googled it and found this. I'm thinking I could use it for audio editing in a DAW. I figured those expensive little devices specifically for this stuff have pretty similar controls.

Genius! Was looking into editing consoles (kinda expensive), and then wondered about using my PS4 controller instead - great to see that not only have you done all the work of figuring out how to set that up, but it actually seems pretty effective! Intrigued to try this with Resolve - thanks!

one issue seems to be - how to turn on/off V1 V2 A1 V2 etc.. as often this has a big effect on how things get deleted...inserted... etc.
How do you switch to the viewer and back to the canvas?
How about scrolling thru bins and marking in / out?
