Update: Seems Bliz agrees that adding rating req to S1 gear is dumb ... to a degree. So everything except for Shoulders and Weapons do not require rating so this video is accurate again. Notes: ____________________ We’re going to use the rating requirements that were originally introduced with The Burning Crusade’s 3rd season, which requires a rating of 2000 for shoulders and 1850 for weapons. The rest of the gear will have no rating requirements. When Season 2 launches, we expect to use those same rating requirements for the Season 2 gear, while removing all requirements from the season 1 gear at that time.
Ahhh the ole hourglass. GL to anyone going for it. Ive had 60 runs on some characters and ive gotten it in 1 run. Also probably 70% of dps on servers will be hunters
Decent guide, but I have to say getting hit capped is most important. Most the gear you showed didn't have hit on it. I always go 4/5 beast lords set then get hit capped with the rest of the items. Pretty easy to do hit cap is 142 btw for BM. Cheers!
After blizzcon! I want to see if they announce a date for a beta.. I'd hate to make the video, then immediately get a beta where I could have better info and better footage.
Don't forget the Mark of Conquest. This trinket is really good just because of the passive mana return it gives. You get it for 30 of the PvP tokens acquired from killing enemy players at the hellfire fortifications. The trinket is amazing for long fights and also if you are lacking a paladin keeping up blessing of wisdom on the boss. Also means you can focus on chugging dps potions instead of mana potions.
Good video. Hopefully badges are not in at the start. Srv Hunters gear differently than BM or MM looking forward to that video. Get all the Agi. Also hopefully they let us tame GTSG!!!

After wanting to play ret pally but quickly discovering how weird seal twisting is for a casual andy like me. My hunter seems like its going to get played mostly along with my mage. I'll save paladin for Wotlk. Hunter seems like it has a very straightforward path with gearing too.
Beast Lord set is even better then a T4 set because of its set bonuses (armor ignore). Even in SSC hunters were running in beast lords doing omega dmg with that gear :)))
I checked the Naxx gear in comparison but most Naxx gear is problematic since it is scaled for 1 agi = 2 ap. It rarely has any ap but AP is a way better stat in TBC for hunters compared to classic. But the difference is not that high for most items so you might get away with it playing full T3 in the first raids.
Most Naxx gear falls really close to 70 dungeon blue items. Although, all our agi mail gets it's stats reworked. I assume they did that so surv hunter isn't wearing all Naxx gear until T5.
@@Bigbobbedboi ranged weps seem to get a buff if you compare a classicdb to a tbcdb. If they correct slavemaker will be preraid bis. Unless the speed messes things up.
keep the naxx ring for surv for an easy option. keep the AQ40 rep ring if its exalted also for surv for an easy one if u already have it. keep badge of the swarmgaurd for both specs
When you hit 70 on Friday and get 2 pieces of Beast Lord during the weekend and on Monday afternoon you get invited to a pug Kara group and Thr SunFury Bow of the Phoenix drops and your the only hunter in the group! Hell yeah
Get mark of conquest + Dungeon set Conquer DPS While Mark of Conquest wont give you damage and etc The mana sustain in long fights is incredible, when I played on on pservers my DPS skyrocketed after I acquired mark of conquest
I completely understand taking Leatherworking if you're in a guild that will require the use of Drums in raids...even if the drums at first are not as good as they became (tbd if Bliz will have drums in their 2.4.3 state at launch). In this situation it's a no brainer and you can work toward your Primalstrike or Ebon Netherscale. But if drums aren't a guild requirement...is Leatherworking necessary at all for a Hunter? Not sure if I'm reading conflicting information or just too many assumptions...but the gist I've read is that Primalstrike/Ebon just gets replaced by Kara/Gruul (tier 4) gear because the LW crafted set bonuses aren't anything to write home about. If we can free up a profession slot that's a worthy note imo Edit: This is not a critique on your video, as you clearly state "if you want" when referencing the crafted LW items. I'm asking for opinions/advice.
Ugh comment accidentally deleted. Okay so hunters don't use any of the t4 armor set itself as its worse than beastlord. Now regarding off pieces in t4... you could use those instead of ebon absolutely. Problem is though those pieces are generally what every melee class and bears want too. So a lot of competition on items that aren't abundant drops to begin with. Its another reason ebon is so highly recommended. You'd be competing against hunters who didn't go ebon and against melee for those items. As most are leather pieces they all use.
loved the video i have always been a hunter in every xpac, tho havent played shadowlands. currently have 4 lvl 60 hunters in classic all with bwl xbow and full t2. 2 are even raiding naxx others were just prof alts. I'm planning on doing a few vids focused on survival.. One where I go over some numbers to see the effects of agi stacking since it's very different in tbc. The other I want to cover survs control in PvP..... but kinda want to wait for at least beta for that.
Wasn’t survival best later in the expansion? I remember playing beast mastery for a long time, then I logged in one day and survival was king and I remember being pissed I had to learn how to play all over again 😂

I'm not sure on my profs until they say how drums are gonna be nerfed. I'm actually now thinking I should do a deep dive into each spec... because MM is overlooked a lot, even by me sometimes. All 3 specs have their place in TBC and I really want to show that off.

Well, ebon beats felstalker in pretty much every way unless you're going surv, but it's bop so you have to be a LW. I think the real question here is if it's worth the investment. Felstalker takes 18 primal airs for the set and can be replaced pretty quickly. That badge by your name is lookin niceeeeeeee!
They're nerfing the hunter macro, so the shot speed thing is now only limited by how fast you can do that stuff manually. I expect we'll see a slower shooting meta for your average hunter than back in the day, while you'll see a faster meta for the try-hards...
Do you have a source for that? I can't find it. I think there's a good chance we'll see some changes though, that's why I've held off on doing my hunter deep dive and survival hunter video.

People have asked a lot, I wish I had put in a section comparing vanilla items to TBC. I did on my warrior one and further preraid bis ones I will. One thing to keep in mind, is all that classic hunter gear will have it's stats rebalanced because of the changes to agi.
You mean the Gladiator's crossbow or High Warlord/Grand Marshal crossbow? The HWL/GM one you could get it if you wanted it but... there's nothing particularly special about it and you're likely better off using that honor+marks for your epic nonset pieces.
The Gladiator one will cost arena points, not honor. It moved to honor during season 3 and then season 2 gear moved to honor in season 4. It was like catch up gear.
You could do that for sure. But.. you wont be able to do that for a while. In original tbc, arena didn't start until 30 days after launch. So 30 days + 3/4 weeks of arena points and you'd probably already have Sunfury by then. Maybe worth doing on an alt or a character that doesn't raid.
This is actually more complicated of a question than you would think. If you're Surv, you still want agi. For BM and even MM, all the old guides say still go with agi, but no reasoning for why. Crit to agility was rescaled, so now it's 40agi to 1 crit, but you would still expect ap to be more desirable now. They even say to skip the higher ap pvp gems. The old sims do reflect agi gems being better than ap, so maybe the sims weren't great, idk. With the info we have now, agi all around, but a small chance there were some sim errors and ap gems get a use.
Yooo that engi gun has a Meta Socket??? Damn aren't there %increase crit damage metas? Might be worth the expense, could be amazing if it lets you have 2x meta gems.
Unfortunately no. Metas are exclusive to helms. There's a big issue with TBC databases for some reason.. like none of them are complete and a lot of them have errors. I try to get archived tooltips when I can but there's very few. Yellow gem sockets showing up as meta sockets is only one of the problems they have :[

There is no pre-raid bis for Survival. You need to get at least 600 agility for it to be viable.

How about the pvp crossbow? You could start working on the marks when the pre patch is released. Its 84.4 speed or is the speed a problem?

What about gems ? Since 1 agi gives 1 AP, is it worth it to go for AP gems instead of agi gems ?
This is actually more complicated of a question than you would think. If you're Surv, you still want agi.
For BM and even MM, all the old guides say still go with agi, but no reasoning for why. Crit to agility was rescaled, so now it's 40agi to 1 crit, but you would still expect ap to be more desirable now. They even say to skip the higher ap pvp gems.
The old sims do reflect agi gems being better than ap, so maybe the sims weren't great, idk. With the info we have now, agi all around, but a small chance there were some sim errors and ap gems get a use.

Yooo that engi gun has a Meta Socket??? Damn aren't there %increase crit damage metas? Might be worth the expense, could be amazing if it lets you have 2x meta gems.
Unfortunately no. Metas are exclusive to helms.
There's a big issue with TBC databases for some reason.. like none of them are complete and a lot of them have errors. I try to get archived tooltips when I can but there's very few.
Yellow gem sockets showing up as meta sockets is only one of the problems they have :[
