    Just purchased the 28 -11. Thanks for the review. It made me a believer over the DeMarini

    Matt, any general thoughts on 2 piece vs 1 for youth players? I'm currently working with coach pitch ages 6-8 using USA bats.

    What’s better the connect or composite for this bat?

    That is a pretty good bat he's using there my son did well with it this past season in 12u. The ball missles off of it hotter than most if not all USA bats from what ive seen live in games its almost scary.

    My 9yo son is using the 29” drop 11. Seems to be an improvement from the Cat Connect in 28”. Doesn’t seem to ring his hands and he’s getting better hits.

      My son has used all the cat x bats / sluggers / icons and by far the icon usaaa is the best followed by the hypfire and usa icon

    Nice swing, you're great, I do watch as many vids as possible, but for his age, is he too worried about exit velo?

      Thanks! I think he’s just having fun and competing. As kids we used to try to hit the ball as hard as we could, we just had to guess how hard it was. Now kids can actually see how fast it’s going.

    How can you tell if they should be using a drop 8 versus the drop 11? My son is young but way bigger than most kids his age and strong. Makes picking drop weights a bit tricky. Appreciate any advice.

      Bat size charts are a good start. If he is strong a -10 is fine. My son started playing at 9 and used a 29 drop 10 for rec ball. He was a bigger kid. Even in travel ball we didn’t transition to a -8 until then we went to a -5 after a season.

      I use a little of the eye exam to see how they handle each bat. Also will look at how hard they hit the ball and how often they square it up. So far my son has had most success with -11 but we are in the process of seeing what he should use for next spring

      Matt, That is probably the best way to approach bat size/ weight. My son Rohan turned 14 a couple months ago is a 6" 1/2" 178 lbs and swings a very light 33" BBCOR (Voodoo One). He swings a 32" mid load really well too. But a 33" Mid load is a bit too much for now. Still follow you but haven't talked in a while. Rohan is doing well. @@AntonelliBaseball

      I think he’s ok with it. He used it in spring and summer and did pretty well

    Personally I usually use a drop five or eight but he probably hit
    Better than me

    • @AntonelliBaseball
      @AntonelliBaseball  6 місяців тому

      Yeah definitely depends on your age. He's been using a -10 for his age. Good luck!
