To me, The Old Hunters is still the "Gold Standard" for DLCs. 3 hours plus of intense gameplay with level design and bosses that rival those in the main game (Ludwig, Kos). They took everything that was awesome in the core game and amped it up! We can only hope Elden Ring gets the same treatment for its DLC.

I’ve completed BB on NG as far as defeating The One Reborn as all the advice was to complete the dlc before it gets tougher in NG +. I was getting pretty levelled up and started to think “hey, I’m getting alright at this” and now The Old Hunters is completely kicking my arse! You sir are a badass, hat’s off!

So the DLC gets tougher in NG +. Shame I didn't know that earlier😂 getting to first checkpoint took me 3 hours. I was like: OK, so I'm gonna start DLC after beating the base game. I didn't know that I can start it earlier. So basically now I don't have a choice but to beat DLC on harder level🤣
The Hunter Axe for me was my favourite weapon by far! It's so underrated, got my weapon fortification to +467. A lot of people ditch the weapon early on in the game but this was my buddy throughout the entire main campaign and dlc
@@yugiohdeck Kinda late reply but with 50 Strength and 50 Skill and a +10 Hunter Axe slotted with three 22.3% gems (drops from the Winter Lanterns in Fishing Hamlet, the best non-chalice gems you can get) your axe will have an attack rating of 663. The weapon's base AR at +10 is 196 meaning that its additional AR from your stats and gems comes out to be 467 (this is shown in the weapon screen as +467), which I'm assuming the original poster was referring to.

I’ve been playing this game again perfecting multiple characters. One of them is a sea captain build, and lemme tell ya, perfecting this character AND getting him to end his journey in the Fishing Hamlet feels so fitting.
@Joseph Waters Orphan is held by many as one of the best boss's in soulsborne and with good reason.. your under leveled, you should be higher than 89 for this boss! Read his moves Dodge well.
@Joseph Waters ok firstly soft cap isn't hard cap there is merit in leveling past soft caps, leveling also increases your overall damage reduction so you should just be increasing your levels any way. Secondly there really is no cheese this does a ton of damage strats for orphan however he is very readable it's just about having patience dodging well.. vet winnable.

I have currently killed the one reborn in the main game and i planed to complete the dlc before i progress into the nightmare mensis.. my intention was to complete the dlc and main game together on my first cycle and get all the old hunter weapons for ng+.. is that a good choice or do i complete the game until mergo's wet nurse before i start the dlc..

You start the DLC around level 60; I recommend you go into the DLC after you’ve beaten Micolash & before you fight Mergo’s Wet Nurse. I also recommend that you have at least 30 in Strength, Vitality, Endurance & Skill (depending on what build you’re going for).

base game literally kicks you out of your comfort zone. But once you master basics, the game becomes easier. But when you start DLC, you are once again brutally kicked out of your comfort zone and you need to adapt again to harder gameplay. But this whole idea of adapting, becoming stronger and defeating obstacles on your way literally strengthens your will which may be of use in real life. Games like Bloodborne or Nioh which I played before made my will and resolve stronger in real life. I became stubborn like hell and giving up is simply not my style anymore. I am like a badass "good hunter" :D:D

it takes like one hour for your brain to adapt to game mechanics. Trust me, previously I was like "I`ll never take on any soulslikes" guy and now I love these games. You can adjust your skills, your reflex and tactics to the game, believe me. It`s just a trait of brain to adapt to new situations. I am pretty sure everyone can play soulslikes, but many people simply fear to start as they are used to vanilla games that beat themselves on their own ;) if you want to play Bloodborne or any other title like this, just try it. You will love it. The satisfaction for beating them is worth the effort.
Joseph Waters i don’t think weapons get useless in bloodborne because you can keep upgrading it and i think there isn’t much difference between weapons damage
The reason i never change my weapon is because i base my whole gameplay style on the dodge then stab attack of the axe. I'm terrible at parrying with the gun so i need to dodge then attack quickly and the axe can do that
Yeha, i never used the gun at all. Firstly because i could never get the timing down to do counter hits and secondly because it makes everything more epic like you said
@SourceSpy91 Agreed! The Orphan of Kos and Ludwig are by far my favorite bosses from Bloodborne. Lady Maria was the coolest boss, but the easiest to fight IMO because you can easily parry her. Laurence was pretty easy and The Living Failures were just irritating to fight.
@A Rebel With A Cause I'm no expert at Bloodborne, but I've killed every hard boss by myself with only the Steak Driver. My build was mostly just high HP and Strength. In all honesty the Steak Driver could just be overpowered tho. Once I had Laurence crawling on the floor is was just too easy.

SourceSpy never levelled up in Bloodtinge, though. Nor did he level up in Arcane. In addition, he would've sucked at parrying with a gun. The Hunter's Axe is one of the better weapons due to high rally potentials. Granted, he had other weapon choices, but the Hunter's Axe is basically Ol' Reliable.
Ik I’m late on this one, but you access this part of the corridor after you bolt for the Lighthouse Hut in the Fishing Hamlet. From there, you enter the hut & pick up the Underground Cell Inner Chamber Key, which is what you need to unlock that door & kill Brador.
This games so bizarre sometimes, I'm lvl 110 now and I take so much damage in comparison to you in this video. Presumably, the enemies scare but this is off the charts! 35 Vitality, 20 Endurance - Don't really want to ramp that any higher so I can focus on Skill but still... Insane damage coming off the Living Failures right now!

Yeah, the Orphan was so heartpounding; all of the bosses in the DLC, as a matter of fact, were the definition of heartpounding madness.

The story progression was pretty linear before the DLC. Now, it's a case of what came first: the Amygdala or the Vacuum Spider?

I'm sure that's what i did, killed The One Reborn, then went into the dlc. It is harder then the main game so be prepared
I am really upset that they never made a proper CD realease for the DLC Music. It's only a handful of tracks... But it's the best music of the game.

SourceSpy never levelled up in Bloodtinge, though. Nor did he level up in Arcane. In addition, he would've sucked at parrying with a gun. The Hunter's Axe is one of the better weapons due to high rally potentials. Granted, he had other weapon choices, but the Hunter's Axe is basically Ol' Reliable.

Ik I’m late on this one, but you access this part of the corridor after you bolt for the Lighthouse Hut in the Fishing Hamlet. From there, you enter the hut & pick up the Underground Cell Inner Chamber Key, which is what you need to unlock that door & kill Brador.

This games so bizarre sometimes, I'm lvl 110 now and I take so much damage in comparison to you in this video. Presumably, the enemies scare but this is off the charts! 35 Vitality, 20 Endurance - Don't really want to ramp that any higher so I can focus on Skill but still... Insane damage coming off the Living Failures right now!
