    Thank you , I've wanted to know how to knit gloves for a long time and this tutorial is very easy to follow. I have made several gloves using this pattern and now find it helpful to leave the waste yarn in place until the work is finished, this gives me a line to measure the fingers from and also a lifeline in case I make a mistake.

    • @KnittingHouseSquare
      @KnittingHouseSquare  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Sure! I can think of two ways (1) You would want to start each finger exactly as written in the pattern and then after you have knit 1" (or any length you prefer) cast off all stitches or (2) to make the cast off tighter around your finger, knit each finger as written for .5", then switch to a few rounds of ribbing and then cast off
      Hope that helps!

    As a visual person, watching your demonstration has been so helpful. I put my Sidar knitting pattern down as could not understand it at the fingers section.
    I knitted the whole glove based on your instructions and your pattern is now in my head. I can now knit the other glove without looking anything up.
    I think it would be useful in your instruction sheet, if you could show how many starting stitches for a child, or mans hand, and how many stitches you would use for the thumb and fingers, we would be able to knit those too, based on the method you have given.
    Thank you so much and I have now subscribed to to your channel.

Then, when I cast on in between the fingers, I use the backward loop cast on because it is in the middle of a row. For the thumb I did not cast on any stitches, I just follow along the waste yarn and pick up the stitches. I hope that helps - let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi, i did 44 sts because I'm using a medium 4 yarn with 4.0mm needles. How would I need to divide up those stitches for the finger part of the pattern?? Do I still do the increase for 20 st and then continue on or is it going to be a whole different count because you casted 56sts?? @knittinghousesquare

    • @KnittingHouseSquare
      @KnittingHouseSquare  3 роки тому

      Hi! Great question - for a medium weight yarn I would do about 12- 14 stitches for the thumb instead of the 20 sts in this pattern. Then for worsted weight gloves I have found that I prefer it to have about the same number of stitches for each finger so I would split up the 44 stitches into:
      Index: 6(front) + 6(back) = 10 + 2(cast on) = 14
      Middle: 5(front) + 5(back) = 10 + 2(previous finger) + 2(cast on) = 14
      Ring: 5(front) + 5(back) = 10 + 2(previous finger) + 2(cast on) = 14
      Pinky: 6(front) + 6(back) = 10 + 2(previous finger) = 14
      I hope that helps!

      Hi! On the pattern page on my website it is the 'PDF Pattern' button - located just below the text on the left when you view it from a computer

    Thank you for the tutorial - what stitch count would you suggest for a small adult size?

    Is there a reason you knit one half at a time, as opposed to knitting all the way around until the first 2"? I stopped at each half and turned it for fear of messing something up, but I was sorely tempted to keep going, not seeing any obvious differences it would make.

    You never quite said how many to increase around the thumb, is it 6 times? How many stitches in total do you end up with after you increase?

    • @KnittingHouseSquare
      @KnittingHouseSquare  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! You want to continue the increase repeat rounds until you have a total of 20 stitches before the stitch marker

    Is it necessary to use needles with a long cord? The needles I have are on a 21 cord.

    • @KnittingHouseSquare
      @KnittingHouseSquare  4 роки тому

      A 21" cord would probably work! A longer cord makes magic loop a little easier, but the gloves are narrow enough that they are on the needles most of the time, and barely go onto the cord so you should be fine

      Yay - I hope you enjoy knitting them! I have a separate page for the 5-size newer version on my website: www.knittinghousesquare.com/hands/gloves-5sizes
      And here is direct link to the PDF on google drive: drive.google.com/file/d/1flF6-ylZzL83B8J4pSjJvrP0NfWgWTLg/view?usp=sharing

    Is the pattern the same as double knit or do I need a different size of knitting needles?

    • @KnittingHouseSquare
      @KnittingHouseSquare  3 роки тому

      Hi! For this pattern you need circular knitting needles to match the weight of yarn you are using. I teach using magic loop which uses circular knitting needles with a longer cord, but if you prefer to use double pointed needles you could definitely modify my instructions to do that! I hope that helps, let me know if you have any additional questions!
