Didn't know I could just angle it to make sure it was under the lobe, this just saved me a major headache in my head, thank you for this video Lol

Thank you for the video; it's been a big help in changing out the pump on my '89 7.3idi!

You made it look easy. I have fuel dripping down mine and it is running very rough when accelerating so it's either that pump gasket or the fuel line itself. Both are probably equally likely lol. Thanks for the video! Don't you just love "keep it clean" when you're surrounded by giant chunks of 35 year old grease gunk?

Thanks! Yes keeping it clean is very difficult with all the extra grime down there, I had air leaks, and a broken switcher valve in my fuel system thats why I was running off a can to make sure the engine was good.

Either go back to mechanical or an e fuel kit.

I have a 1990 7.3 idi and changed the same exact part. After I got done I started her up and had a run away engine. I shut her off by blocking the air intake. I don’t think the engine seized. I didn’t hear any horrible sounds. What do you think happened and do you think the engine is still ok?

Are you getting engine oil into your cylinders? I would say engine may have survived if you got on it quickly but I can only guess from here.

You can turn the engine over with a breaker bar, I usually like to unplug ip solonoid just for good measure

If you switch to an e pump you can delete the manual pump

@@Captain720 Do you know if the e pumps for the idi's are as picky as some other make/model diesels? I like the simplicity of mechanical pumps but blind failures scare me...
