    I can't get over how much nicer it relates to the natural landscape beyond now. Every change has really been for the better and it's coming along. I can't wait to see what spring surprises it has for you.

    Really opens the view up. Just shows what some thought out editing does for a garden. Great to see the genuine happiness of a gardener who is excited to get cracking, something we can all relate to, whatever size our garden. 👏

    As you say, removing a tree is a serious decision but it has brought in so much light. I'm glad you are going to lay the hedge. That will be so interesting to watch.

    Absolutely the right decision to part with the red cedar! Nice that you have lots of beautiful wood to remember it by.

    This is going to be one very exciting journey watching your garden develop, as you say it’s always sad to see a tree go but if it’s opened up that view then why not!

    Loving seeing the transformation of your garden Joe, after a complete renovation of mine starting 2 years ago nearly finished this year. Most importantly enjoy the journey 🙂

    Enjoying your updates Joe. Someyou just have to be a bit ruthless. Also, I love Iford manor, which is local to me. Looking forward to seeing that on GW.

    Its so exciting to see your new garden slowly waking up and seeing what you have. This time of year I love walking around each morning spotting the bulbs and trees slowly emerging from their winter sleep, although today in Canada were waking up to a few inches of snow. Thanks for sharing.

    Good to hear you’re keeping and laying the Blackthorn hedge Joe. Great for the brown hairstreak butterfly, as, I’m sure you know. Are they likely to visit your area? All the best.

    We had a large walnut tree cut, milled and crafted into a dining table and a coffee table. Cedar sounds perfect for an outdoor table or benches for the garden.

      I am betting there are a lot of spring bulbs up in your garden and that the land is changing day by day and I know there are more people besides just me that would like to see your gardens. Please!!!

    Loving your you tube channel, but you need to get your garden onto Gardener's World! This would add so much value to the programme. All that light you now have from removing that tree. Good decision.

    Looking forward to seeing some hedge laying Joe . Dorset or Devon style? I reckon that hawthorn needs coppicing

    • @JoesCountryGarden
      @JoesCountryGarden  8 місяців тому

      Err…not sure, think it’ll be Swifty hybrid of both! The hawthorns massive and ancient and I can see under it. If I coppice it it will branch out and block the view again, it’s also hiding a big pole! Thanks for watching…

    Hope you show us how you do the blackthorn hedge. I don’t think I understand what you mean by laying it over. Love watching this garden be restored. ❤️😊

      Just check out hedge laying. It’s a brilliant way to create a strong thick hedge.

    You can’t avoid removing shrubs and trees to improve a garden and people know you and your values well enough to know you will put more in than you remove making the sum total of the works better at the end.
