  • The tree surgeons have been really busy in the garden and now things are really opening up. As well as bringing new views into play, all this work has really changed the flow of the garden from the broken up areas and lines that ran from the house to the boundary to a more lateral flow that is in harmony with the hills of the landscape beyond. Apologies for the noise - not just the chipper and chainsaws, but also the wind. Job for the weekend: get a new and better microphone with windshield and don't lose them in the garden this time."

So much fun to watch the changes. It is sad when you have to let a tree go, but when it’s for the the best, it must give way.

You must be really excited, its changing so quickly, lovely to see it all opening up, quite brave to take out big trees but once its done, really does highlight the stunning views and the gorgeous established trees and shrubs. Thanks again Joe, really beautiful

Hi Joe, I am enjoying your videos. I move about every 5 years because of my work. I get a house that comes with my job. I always have to start by taking trees and shrubs out. So I do let it! Although the gardens I end up with are only small town garden. 😊

Joe, I'm absolutely loving this channel. I had a dream of having a garden of that size in Dorset. That didn't pan out but now I get to live vicariously via UA-cam! Love the mix of design thinking, how you decide which mature plants to keep or sacrifice and insights into the practical work. Keep it up!

Hate the ivy, but then its very aggressive here in Ontario. The stone walls however ❤. If you don't keep them a folly perhaps? Very much enjoying your work in progress.

Joe, it really is starting to take shape - really fascinating to watch. Can I ask how easy it is to plant land once you have ground out a stump? I am guessing that grinding down a couple of inches below the surface, then covering with some top soil, the remaining stump/roots will rot away in time?
