Absolutely fantastic discussion gents! Just love Zev’s passion, keep this music coming! What a tribute to these musicians and we get to enjoy it because of this most outstanding work!!
Gentlemen, I enjoyed the conversational style of the video! The chat with Zev was engaging and relatable rather than a run of the mill formal interview. Thanks and keep up the great content.
It sounds like the whole thing is mono to me. Makes sense as the later show was recorded for radio in 66, although it was broadcast on KING-FM in Seattle at the time. FM Stereo was first tested in 1961 and approved for use by the FCC two years later. No idea if KING broadcast in stereo, but I doubt it. Either way both disks on this great set sound like mono to me. - Chris
Tough one. When we split up the promos I picked the Sonny Rollins first, and would still say that would be my number one pick. After that I got the Shelly Manne, and the Cannonball in '69. I have enjoyed both of those a whole lot since I got them. I am planning to get several more and the top two picks of the rest of them would be the Art Tatum and Mal Waldron with Steve Lacy.
You guys are really killing it with all the great interviews and information! Great video!
Thanks for watching Dave! - Chris

Is the Shelly Manne mono, stereo, or a combo platter?

Zev - these releases are meticulously researched.
He even determined Monterey, CA was in the PNW.
Thanks for the high-level contribution to the conversation.
