Okay the part Morty loves to not mention is that literally only happened because he made Rick create something to try an drug a girl into loving him. Something he initially refused to do and only did it to get Morty to shut tf up. Rick is at fault for doing it but it's also on Morty for well making him do it.
Morty is also like 12 in that episode and it's one of the first things he does with Rick. Imagine if Rick just explained why a love potion is wrong in clear, simple terms. Not saying Morty shares no blame, but almost everything in that case is on Rick. It's like he didn't care enough to think things through, like that it was flu season or that haphazardly mixing DNA just wouldn't work

In no world is trying to actively drug someone comparable to 'getting the breaks changed' and when said drug inadvertently spreads bc of flu season comparable to 'being turned into a nuke against his knowlesge'. The initial problem that caused the apocalypse was Morty being fucked up. It spread causing the apocalypse because Rick can't bother thinking things through and only did this to make him shut up.

Rick shares blame by not caring enough to explain shit and handing him the drug but Morty is guilty of actively pressuring Rick to develop the drug and choosing to use it. Also him being 12 ain't an excuse, 12 year olds are more than capable of realizing "making my op genius grandpa make me a drug so I can brainwash someone against their will" is a mildly fucked up thing to do.
