Problem is that mannequin still has a very thick top of hair. You only thinned the bottom & some of the sides underneath the top. When people ask if this cut will work on fine or thin hair the majority of people mean a thinning or fine top of the head. This demonstration was done a very very thick top & id have a disaster on my hands if I tried this with thinning & fine hair on top
Exactly what I was thinking. My hair is way thinner and probably finer.
@@Dawn-sx1xcYES!!!! That's the issue I was wondering about.
And he didnt cut into the top or the middle at all. So all he did was give her bangs and a very light trim of her ends.
Thank you. I thought I was doing a whole different cut (which may still be the case, I wonder if Ive been doing a butterfly cut, but I followed the steps correctly. I might hpave done a bitterfly cut.) Mine keeps getting thinner as it grows and I go on to trim the layers like I did to begin with. My hair is fine, but it wasnt super thin until now that I've trimmed it the exact same way as I did to start with. My ends look like the model's now.
If you look at the model in the beginning, this cut is on no way the same.
He thinned it out more to accommodate for that
Exactly, we mean thin fine hair.
Ok but thin hair is half this, babe

I have fine curly hair and after looking at this tutorial I’ve definitely realized I don’t have enough hair for this hairstyle. The volume at the top of the head looks amazing but the longest layers look so thin !!! Thanks so much for recreating this style on fine hair so we can get a good idea
Yes, you can! My hair length skims my shoulders. I have thinning fine hair, top, back and sides.
My stylist watched his 3 and 6 minute Wolf cut videos and went to work.
I'd already had some light texturing and long layers. It works with a little tweaking after the method using 2 ponytails. Taking into account the prior cut that I had.
Wasn't as long or involved as this video version.
What also makes it look voluminous with movement, is if you have a nice color with highlights.
I've gotten quite a few compliments. Even my daughter said it's the best cut I ever had! I love it. It makes my pear shaped face, chipmunk cheeks and square jaw look thinner and more proportionate. Also makes my neck appear longer and slender!!
People who know me say it makes me look younger. You bet your bottom dollar, if it makes me look younger, it's making me feel younger too!!
I wish I knew about this years ago. Thank you, Paul!
Please do this again showing if you can have a wolf cut when thinning on scalp!!!!
I gotta thank you. Most hairstyles and haircuts don't fit thin straight hair, so your video is very appreciated 🙏
I have fine, thin hair. I was hoping to be able to do this cut on myself. After watching this video, I've decided, it's not gonna happen. I can't do the zig-zag part, by myself.
ua-cam.com/video/0wsVTKY5QQ8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AllThingsGrace This video does it differently with fine hair and it ends up looking really nice.
I'm really late but I have extremely thin and straight hair... I did get one and it was a very very good decision! I went to an extremely good Hair stylist tho (Assort Amsterdam) and it works very good. U need a good hair routine and strong thickening products but it works for me pretty well
This isn't a fair video. Thin virgin hair doesn't act like this at all. Because it's been processed multiple times it's giving the effect of being much denser and much more than it actually is. Thin hair doesn't hold style is the problem. Thin hair girls look unhealthy with wolf cuts. I had one for over a decade. It was my favorite hairstyle and I was crazy to think it looked good. If I would've dyed my hair, it absolutely would've held style enough to look good.
Good grief... like my entire head's worth of hair amounts to about the same as just the top section at 6:24, lol
Thank you so much for doing this.
My hair is thinner than that, & I've both cut & trimmed a wolf cut on my self about five times now, each slightly changing the sectioning & density. I learned a lot about doing this with little hair to start plus covid thinning, exactly where you started thinning the mannequin out.
What I'd love to see more of is how to then do touch up trims on this, on yourself. (for fine & thin hair, of course)
Appreciated so much! Your work is inspiring & the way you speak & your demeanor is easy to understand & relatable. Makes it simpler to grasp. Keep up the good work!
Reminds me of the haircut I used to wear in the 60's-70's.
Same! I had this haircut since the 70s 😁
I'm curious how this would look if instead of blowdried and styled, it was just air dried and left naturally wavy/curly. Because this looks fantastic, and I really want to try it out but I wear my hair naturally and I don't know if that would look as good
My hairstylist told me not to do a wolf cut for that exact reason. To be fair I have fine straight hair, so maybe it's different if your hair is wavy. But I prefer to air dry and never style my hair. A wolf cut looks like a wolf cut only when styled. Maybe try more of a shag haircut? That's what I had to do.
I don't blow dry and style, it should look good I had a shag cut never styled it and it looked good. I'm a wash dry and go girl lol
Also, because this head has been processed the hair acts totally different than virgin hair. My virgin hair doesn't hold shape like this no matter what shape it's cut in. I had this haircut for 10 years. Didn't look as good as I thought I did when I look at images. Lol :/
Love it ! So I totally tried this from your older video- wolf cut at home - turned out pretty ok ... I can live with it.... great video 😉
Ohmygawd!! I gave myself this cut with longer fringe today, using your technique and videos and I’ve never loved a haircut more!!
I’ve been cutting my own hair for a while now, and this gave me more confidence and satisfaction with the outcome than I’ve ever had before.
Thank you so much, Paul Watt!!
For context I have very thin and fine hair just past my shoulders~ and also six months of beauty school to work with.
And seriously, I don’t say this lightly because my thin hair is often a source of disappointment, but I’m obsessed with how this cut came out. I LOVE MY HAIR!!! Gah!!😍🥰🤩🥳😎
This man is a true artist and a kind person thanks for doing this vid
I am SO EXCITED for my sister-in-law to do this haircut on me for my birthday!
Thanks for showing how to do the layers; that was very informative to see the zigzag technique for that.
Us genuinely thin /fine haired girls already have naturally thin scraggy hair at it's longest. So why have a wolf cut , that is part of the style. A cub cut is probably a better option. Although not sure if i'd risk that ?
I'm just starting this video and I'm glad fine hair is being addressed, my hair looks a lot like the texture of the mannequin (but with some wave). I'm really glad you showed getting rid of some of the bulk first, because although each of my hairs is fine, I have a big bushy head of them!!
I'm curious, would it be safe to just thin out my hair by doing that technique? That's one thing I wanted to do for a long time. The rest of the cut is probably too complicated for me to do on my own.
Totally trying this on myself! Nice clear instruction - wish I could make my hair that colour as well, that's FIRE! ❤🔥🔥❤🔥
It really is an awesome colour!
The ends looked so bad, sorry to say. Just disappeared at the bottom. Very damaged looking.
I would say no. It just made my wavy fine hair curl up and look awful...But watching your video to learn.
It's all relative, obviously it can't be heavily layered, but to achieve a similar look and hold on to weight this is the way I found most successful
Looks lovely. Also loving the colour. Xx
NIIIIICE! IT'S 1:00AM HERE IN L.A. WAS ABOUT TO HIT THE BED WHEN U UPLOADED UR VID, I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE ,THANKS ,ANOTHER GOOD ONE VERY PRETTY CUT.👍✌💖
Thank you so much! Have a great sleep!!

How would a person with thin fine hair ask a hair stylist for a wolf cut but make it turn out good for that type of hair?
Why oh why do so many stylists try to cover our faces and most certainly the eyes…leaves us pushing our hair out of our eyes all day.
I literally CANNOT STAND having hair in my eyes at all, so when I see the stylists cutting the bangs like that…I feel for the mannequin. 😂
But seriously though, I just watched another wolf cut tutorial where the stylist made the bangs more blunt and just above the eyebrows, and I loved the look.
It turned out really good but can u try it on curly hair I have naturally curly hair and was thinking of doing it so it would be helpful to see if it suits on me
i know im late but incase you havent found the video, he cuts a wolfcut on curly hair here: ua-cam.com/video/ctiy2eMoY7I/v-deo.html
Aww man, such a cool cut. I'd trust you to do this on my fine, thin, curly hair. The hairdressers around where I live? Not so much, haha.
Maybe I'll just settle for the bangs.
Used to get my hair cut like this in the late 90s and early 2000s. But when I moved most stylist say oh you can’t have that it won’t work. I literally have pictures of myself with this cut. I am hoping the new stylist I am going to can accomplish what I want. I hate blunt hair but also the super super scraggly ends that end up super tangled after about 2 hours.
I have thinning wavy grey hair. Can i use the zig zag method mixed with your 3 point lob tutorial or do you suggest the spherical 3 ponytail tutorial for curly hair instead? I need width at my eyes because my forehead is narrower then the rest of my face.
Love this tutorial!
Aaaahhhh…Now I get how to find a guide 🙃🙌🏼
You must use maniqui that has a dark colour to see the mark where we must separate the hair. It can't see it in pink colour.
Can you make this same hair cut with the 3 ponytails now?? 😂😅
Never new you can have a haircut like this so it's good to no .Thankyou.
I just wish my hair was like a mannequin. My hair is kinda fine . But dense . So it’s too heavy for this cut . I think.my problem is that my layer’s always look shelf like . Or just … wrong . Did the zig zag sectioning help that ? And does it help my ears not show through? My hair could never fluff up so easy like the mannequin head . Wish you could cut mine . I’d trust you . That was creative. Thank you 😊 😊
this mannequin does not have thin hair at all on the top so this still isn’t a good representation tbh
This is not fine hair 😂
I have finer hair just like the hair in the video. I have a wolf cut but as it grows I lose the texture and it seems like I have to keep my hair at a shorter length (like up to where the mannequin head-neck stops). But i keep trying to keep the cut and it seems to get thinner and thinner. After I wash it, it takes a few days to give me the look I aim for. So it needs to be more dirty and then it looks great 👍. Do I need to find a product to get that same look all fhe time? And am I destroying the density by trimming the layers when.they begin to ger too long? It o ly feels really thin after I wash it, and its extremely thin, much more so than I want.
I feel a bit exposed for having made pu lic that I cut.my hair myself. Uaving grown up in the 1980's punk scene, I have only been to a salon once or twice and it didn't go well. I have rarely been unhappy with it when I've cut it. I'm not upset with it now. I just can't seem to get thetexture and weight I want in it until I go a few days without washing it. Then its great for a while (maybe a week, how embarrassing not washing it for over a week, but it needs that to give it the bulk)
After watching thus video I thinmk I did a butterfly cut, not a.wolf cut. I want to be able to grow it out but keep the style. It just seems to get thinner snd thinner.
Love it 🙏 this is want to know👍
How short can a wolf cut be?
How long does my fine wavy hair have to be to do the wolf cut?
I have a lot of hair, but it's very ''lightweight'' and voluminous because of that, even now that I have quite long hair. could I somehow manage wolfcut?
legend
The manequin doesn't really have thin fine hair
Absolutely brilliant 🐒🐒🐒🐒🐒🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
This is fine hair not THIN hair.
More of a coyote cut, imo.
❤👍👍👍👍
this hair isnt that fine or thin though...
Completely took away from the DIY nature of the wolf-cut trend… not to mention the only visible layers on this particular version is between the accentuated fringe and the rest of the more “feathered” (not wolfy) layers of the entire cut. Sorry, but I fear you missed the point here.
Wolf cuts aren't DIY, plus my point is proven, fine hair has to be more subtle, due to the hair type
Needs a bit more off the bottom. It looks like it's been fried with bleach!
