  • There are so many lies we tell ourselves as military significant others and today I want to put a stop to believing those lies and speak truth over our lives. I haven't addressed all, but these are a few to start with! I hope they help you break some of your own lies you tell yourself.

    I just found tour channel a few days ago and I’m so thankful!! 😊 I think God knew I needed to listen to your videos from a Christian perspective. It’s very encouraging to know other SO felt the same way as I do now. I was in The Navy but never in these shoes I’m in now. This is a lot and I want to make this relationship as heathy, successful, and follow God will. 😊 thanks!!

    Girl you spoke to my soul today! I'm so thankful God put this video in my life today! I was trying to talk to a friend about almost everything you just talked about and felt so discouraged because its hard for most people to understand. It was like a breath of fresh air watching this and hearing your words, firstly to not feel and alone and second to get some MILSO "its okay to feel this way" support means so much. Thank you for sharing and giving me a better outlook, sending you lots of blessings!

    It marks a week tomorrow since my boyfriend shipped out for boot camp in the Navy branch. It has been tough, but thank you for the constant reassurance that your content provides. 💙 everyday I get more excited for the day I get to ship out to go see him graduate boot camp. Prayers are essential to me now, to help reassure myself that he’s safe & doing well. Thank you Brit, your channel has really helped a lot! Please don’t stop with your content!

    We have an adorable pup and we've made friends with our neighbors because of our dogs !! Love this advice ! I'm a new military wife and I try to make it fun. When my husband is out for training or deployment. I cook recipes my husband won't eat, crafts, new hobbies, read more, workout, learn how to play an instrument, etc ...

    My husband and I just moved to our first duty station here in Cali and we’ve only been here a week but I’ve been a little nervous to put my self completely out there and making friends because I’m only 19 so I feel like a lot of Other spouses are older than me and don’t wanna be friends with someone so young. Your videos always help me so much, knowing that god has a purpose for me here at this base gives me hope that I won’t be friendless the whole time I’m here😂❤️

    Thanks for the video! I definitely agree that finding friends has a lot to do with yourself and how proactive you are at doing it. Although, sometimes it is hard to find a community if you are in a small town that doesn't have much going on. I had to deal with that in my last location. I didn't know where to look to find people so I ended up pretty lonely the entire time I was there. I ended up thinking that I would never make friends in this type of lifestyle. But now that I'm in a larger city, I've found friends so quickly. I now realize that finding friends in the military lifestyle is not impossible, it just may take more work depending on where you are. Now, if I end up in a smaller town again, I know that I can meet people, I'll just have to put in more effort than normal because you're right, if there are people around there's no reason why I can't.

    I love this video! I agree with all the things you said. I feel you with the “there is no community for me” tho... I have found a total of 2 friends and it’s soooo hard to find friends. I know there is so many people at this base but I am such a picky person. I tell myself that people don’t want to be my friend so therefore I don’t even try to be their friend. Ugh it’s so frustrating. Tucson is sooo boring it seems like no one wants to talk here!!!

    This is the most relatable thing ever. All I do is worry. I'm such a preplanner in everything I do. And the military makes it impossible so instead of just have a Plan A and Plan B, I wind up having a Plan A and it just keep going until Plan ZZZ. I'm also so guilty of never telling my SO about my feelings. I'll never tell her when I'm stressed out about money or life, I hate admitting to her how much I miss her because I feel like it makes her sad. I don't think she's even seen me cry in almost 2 months when I last visited her (I'm a big cry baby, btw)... but all in all, these are all so so sooo accurate

    The point "have fun when your significant other is on deployment" remind me of a big problem I faced in my last relationship: It's not only important to do it for yourself, to see that your life counts and your world doesn't stop existing when he or she is not there. But the other point is that you could put so much pressure on him or her, when you only concentrate on the fact that they are not with you, because when they're gone it hurt you so much and you're freaking out, because you're not able to do your stuff right and when they return instead of enjoying that they are back you only blame them for being away for too long as if they wouldn't care about you enough and besides worrying about the next time they leave you create problems which actually aren't there. My ex-boyfriend treated me this way and pushed my out of his life

    What do you think of the crazy cheating stories out there? Many people say that it happens so much in the military that it's sad. Were you worried even a little before marrying?

    • @Vdrenvln3
      @Vdrenvln3 6 років тому +10

      This is a good video idea! (Make a video Brit!)
      From my own personal experience, I’ve witnessed wives (marine corps) cheating on their husbands while they’re away because they would meet single or even married marines on base and would actually bring them into their own homes. But I’ve also seen the other way around too; where the wife is at home waiting for the husband to come back from training. When in reality, he’s hanging out with other girls while they’re training. As sad as it sounds, it’s completely real. People just get emotionally disconnected as time goes and they try to fill this void by making poor decisions. Or they get married too fast and haven’t had the time to build a solid relationship. A reason why the divorce rate is so high. It breaks my heart to see it happen so much.

    • @AndreaPerez-ci2et
      @AndreaPerez-ci2et 6 років тому +2

      When my husband and I had just started dating he would tell me so many cheating stories till this day he still does. It worried me to think he would do something because I thought well if married people do it no problem especially while deployed he wouldn't have an issue to do so, but I slowly tried to stop thinking that because he is a good man and I trust him.

    I whole heartedly believe in the lonely lie. When I first got to Virginia I spent a lot of days sitting at home feeling like I was never going to make any relationships but it’s because I was sitting at home 😂
    It’s funny how the brain works lol. Duh it was my fault!

    One question I do have, is, once you become a military spouse do you still need someone to "escort you" when on base like if you live on base. Cause when I went to visit my boyfriend not to long ago I was told he wasn't supposed to leave me alone but he left me alone in his room and I got hungry so I got McDonald's and later found out I need to be escorted. So is that still in effect once you get married or can you go run errands and stuff your self?

    • @BritCon2

      Once you get married you get your own military ID which allows you to go on and off base!

    Hey Brit! Weird question, do submarines submerge from missions at any specific time of day? Have you noticed that when Con returns from deployments that it is always around a certain time of day? Or will they come back even late at night? Is it completely random? Any one else who has any idea please respond as well!

    • @BritCon2

      It is always completely random! If they feel as if the word has gotten out about when they come home they will change the date for their protection.

    My husband is deploying next month. I don't know how we're going to make it through this. He had been telling me he was applying for EFMP orders (I'm in chemotherapy, extremely sick) and kept reassuring me he wasn't deploying. He lied, for a month. I have no support system here, no one because I'm sick and work from home. Right now I'm in the middle of a panic attack so I hope I'm making any sense. How do we get through this? Do you have any advice for me? It does not help he says "I could get killed".. tells me he won't talk to me a lot. I'm sick, I'm absolutely panicking and I'm a devastated, shattered and crushed mess. I want this to work but how? I'm also scared to be 100% isolated here. 😩
