The reason why you trade now is so you can win. Next year Wemby will be in his 3rd year with a whole offseason with Fox. As a Spurs front office worker why would you not want to see that immediately
Because what’s the rush? Adding fox doesn’t make you this title contender, it probably doesn’t even get you out of the play in. And then you have to pay him which speeds up the timeline. A guy like castle would likely have to be in the deal. Castle is a guy showing star potential, and is much more linked to Wemby both age wise and contractually with their rookie deals. On top of that you’d have to give up valuable draft capital, which severely hurts roster building in the apron era. I won’t be upset if the make the deal, but it’ll sacrifice their already thin depth and we all know they’ll still be like 3 moves away from even being a top 4 seed. So what’s the rush? If he wants San Antonio, wait until he’s a free agent.
@ Wemby will clearly be the best player in the league if not already. Adding the quickest PG in the league, an amazing shot creator, and an all NBA guard would definitely help them to a top 3 seed. A year is a long time and why waste any time with Wemby and Fox’s prime if you can secure that amazing guard play immediately. Castle at 20 years old is more than 3 years away from making a playoff changing impact to the team. Give a freakish athlete in Wemby a freakish athlete like Fox and you have every single NBA fan tuning into your games.
Personally I think the only 3 teams that make sense are the Warriors, Wolves and Spurs. You can make an argument for the Heat because they have this Butler situation and they could essentially trade Butler and maybe a couple picks to the Kings for Fox and Monk. Also they’ve all played together in college so they could have their own version of what the Knicks got. However I think the Heat want to keep developing Herro on the ball as a point guard (also Herro and Fox could play together in a backcourt) I think the best option for all parties is Fox to the Warriors, he already has a relationship with Curry outside the court and he wouldn’t have to adjust to moving too far away from Sac, and the Warriors in the recent history have been a winning team. They could offer Kuminga (and potentially Podz too as he’s taken a massive step back) which would be enticing for the Kings and now they could choose on which direction to go as on top of having Sabonis and Derozan they would also have young assets like Murray, Kuminga and Podz. The Kings fans may not be too happy about him moving to Golden State but we’ve just recently seen Bridges go from the Nets to the Knicks, if the price is right the front office will do it. The Spurs is obviously the name thrown out there the most but I think it doesn’t make sense for them to trade for Fox right now as they could get him in free agency and a better star may be available for trade in just a few both. For the Wolves the would have to trade Randle for Fox which would free up minutes for Reid and they also go small at times with Fox Ant NAW Mcdaniels and Reid with Dillingham and Divincenzo off the bench (when he returns from injury). Obviously the Wolves would need to attach some picks but this would keep the Kings competitive even though a front court of Derozan Randle and Sabonis would not have much shooting and what would that mean for Murray? A lot to think about for the Kings, but if the Warriors are interested I think they would come with the best offer so they should pull the trigger, see where the season takes them and maybe try trade Derozan and Sabonis in the offseason too to go on a full rebuild. Currently there are too many good teams in the west and tanking there is kinda easier (look at the Jazz bottom of the conference with players like Clarkson, Sexton, Lauri and Collins who have no business being in a rebuilding team). So essentially the Kings could tank for 2 years, get a couple high draft picks while developing Kuminga, Podz and Murray, and their situation may look better than it is right now. Also in a couple years teams like the Lakers, Suns, Warriors and Clippers will fall off, and potentially the Mavericks too if they can’t find someone to replace Kyrie. So by then if the Kings rebuild correctly they should be able to be around the top of the conference with the Jazz, OKC, Rockets, Spurs (and potentially the Pels and Griezzlies depending on what Zion and Ja do)
Cause the rockets are already a terrible shooting team. It would cost young assets/ picks beyond those two players and they’d be locking themselves into a core with 3 of their main players being shitty shooters
Agreed. They already lack depth and are no where near contention, so what’s the upside of trading for a max contract just to become a play in team? Especially if you have to give up castle in the deal. Multiple firsts and a dude who might be a future all star just to get a bit better and change your team’s dynamic.
as a kings fan i have no idea why we’d trade fox and still try to compete, if you’re gonna trade him just get as many picks+ young talent as possible and fully reset i dont love trading one of the best players in franchise history to try and make a play in spot
@@mrincredibleisthagoatno he would fit in so perfectly. He’s a 25ppg 2-way guard known for closing games. You’re adding that to a team who loves to play defense, and their only weakness is scoring and closing out games (as they have no true closer). You could get this deal done easily. Jalen Greens contract, Reed Shepherd and Can Whitmores potential, and they have more than enough first round picks. He’s a better scorer and defender than jalen green, and the other two guys don’t even play. I was one to say “don’t make any moves” about the rockets, but this deal makes too much sense.
Pretty fair???? Bruh two vet role players, a rookie who can’t crack their rotation, and a single pick for the kings franchise star???? As yourself this: why would the kings be happy with this return? THE WOULDNT.

@Sahhhad Haliburton at this point is what he is. He’s a very good starting point guard with a good shot and is an elite distributor. His play has been very shaky lately and to say the Kings lost the trade would be dishonest.
@@Sahhhady’all were the 3 seed tho lol. The duo of fox and sabonis is better for winning than fox and Haliburton, I understand the trade. Any combination of those 3 players isn’t enough to win in this league.
@5:20 because we have no idea what could happen in a year and a half. The Carmelo situation was dumb. They couldve waited. The Spurs wanna compete NOW!!! So get him now before he gets hurt or something
You my friend, know ball. As a kings fan, you nailed it on just about everything. In addition, have better info than many reporters in our area. Speaking for myself, Fox's production has been lacking since our playoff series in 2023 and since Monk has slotted into the starting 5, we've lacked defense besides Keegan Murray. In my eyes, Fox leaving gives opportunity for Monk to run the show and Keon an opportunity to slot into the starting SG to provide much needed defense. With Fox likely not making all NBA and having a lot of ties to Texas, it seems like this move is inevitable. Honestly don't blame him after being around our dysfunctional franchise as long as he has. I'm hoping we can bring in Castle and some picks to keep us competitive for the foreseeable future. However, losing Fox begs the question if players like Monk, Demar, and Sabonis want to jump ship as well. Will be interesting to see how the dust settles between now and the deadline.
Rockets make sense to me. they’re really good, but they also have a couple obvious weak links imo (vanvleet and brooks overpaid), and arguably too many young prospects. Plus lots of draft capital.
I can’t grasp the hopium that believing he hasn’t requested a trade 😂 I haven’t requested a trade but I’ve made it known my preferred destinations!! Give me a break.
I can’t tell if it’s the kings being nice to him and letting his exit sound mutual, or if they’re just a smart organization who realizes their best move now is to blow it up and cash in on their assets. Because it makes sense to blow it up. We all know a fox and sabonis duo has the ceiling of winning 1 playoff round at most. So trading them both before they lose value would mean you’d have a haul for the future.
Wemby is him *right now* it would not be a mistake for the Spurs to build around him at a faster pace than expected he's better than anyone thought he'd be, Fox would be perfect and it'd be cinema to watch.
You can’t compare anyone to lebrons control of an organization. If Fox intends to leave after his contract is up, the the kings are going to trade him whether he likes it or not.
Lowkey we are kinda doomed with trade value bc of Fox’s indications seem to be San Antonio no matter what after his contract is up. Love Fox for what he’s brought to the Kings but man it’s a shot in the foot for our future if there’s any
As a Kings fan, I’d say most levelheaded kings fans feel similarly. We don’t want to see De’Aaron go, obviously. There’s frustration towards the Front Office for letting it get to this point by not improving the team beyond the Demar Derozan trade. With that being said, if he doesn’t want to be in Sac then trade him and move on.
That was Windhorst with the claim that stars were starting to look to come to SA. In hindsight i think most of us thought in the short term CP3 was the big payoff from that statement but now who knows?
To me it's not all about De'Aarron wanting to play with Wemby. He also grew up in Texas and probably wants to go closer to home. And realistically, SA is one of the few teams lacking a true starting PG on a team with solid talent.
I don’t see any team making a move for Fox, unless the spurs are willing to trade for him to make a playoff run this season. There isn’t a better potential landing spot for him so I don’t really see him changing his view on where he wants to play and signing an extension.
Normal Kings fan here, we love Fox and understand why he would request a trade. The GM has drafted multiple PGs to back io fox instead if getting the necessary wing defense that we need to compete along with firing his favorite head coach with no warning after years and years of dave joeger luke walton and other HCs and losing seasons. The GM needs to be held accountable in my opinion and i think other fans ive talked to agree with that
If he doesn’t get traded and plays out the full year with the Kings watch out for the Nuggets in the summer. Jamal Murray would be officially be available in a trade. I would be surprised if the Nugs don’t reach out.
reminds me of when donovan mitchell wanted to get traded to the knicks or heat and got traded to the cavs and signed an extension there the year or 2nd year after
What's crazy is I was thinking the sameting about the heat. Pat Riley is none for making that big of a move. Maybe not 7 teams but I see a 4 team trade.
Its called Money Kenny. Fox can make more if he signs with the team he currently plays for. Players also always say they want to play for team X then get traded to another team and they resign with that team. See PG when he was traded to the Thunder. When he stated he wanted to play for the Lakers. Or Spida to the Cavs. When he said he wanted to go to the Knicks. Or even the several players that the Heat wanted and never got. Outside of the rare accurance like Kawhi on the Raptors. When players get traded they usually resign with that team. Why because of money and those teams are also usually good. This is the norm, not players leaving in FA just to go to another team....
Trade idea for minnesota to get fox Timberwolves - Fox Kings - Randle Heat - Middleton Bucks - Lavine Suns - Butler Bulls - Beal obv not a perfect trade with salaries and picks but in terms of the big names being swapped this makes sense for the fox to minny situation. other than randle to the kings, who would probably get routed to a team like the nets or raptors for smaller contracts and role players. def not happening anyway but fun to think about
If the Spurs are De'Aron Fox's preferred destination I'm curious as to what the Spurs will have to give up both players and picks-wise if they want him.

I personally think Fox wants to go to the Spurs because of the cap space they have. Spurs will most likely pay Fox A LOT of money £££. Yes Wemby is a HUGE factor but that paired with the £££ they can offer him compared to other teams just makes it seem like a no brainer

@@NickSmolichfox isn't eligible for a supermax unless he gets an all nba selection
@ he’s done it because
Because what’s the rush?
Rich Paul told him San Antonio
Personally I think the only 3 teams that make sense are the Warriors, Wolves and Spurs. You can make an argument for the Heat because they have this Butler situation and they could essentially trade Butler and maybe a couple picks to the Kings for Fox and Monk. Also they’ve all played together in college so they could have their own version of what the Knicks got. However I think the Heat want to keep developing Herro on the ball as a point guard (also Herro and Fox could play together in a backcourt)
I think the best option for all parties is Fox to the Warriors, he already has a relationship with Curry outside the court and he wouldn’t have to adjust to moving too far away from Sac, and the Warriors in the recent history have been a winning team.
So by then if the Kings rebuild correctly they should be able to be around the top of the conference with the Jazz, OKC, Rockets, Spurs (and potentially the Pels and Griezzlies depending on what Zion and Ja do)
How does VanVleet and Adams for Fox “not make sense” for the Rockets?? 💀
Cause the rockets are already a terrible shooting team. It would cost young assets/ picks beyond those two players and they’d be locking themselves into a core with 3 of their main players being shitty shooters
If Fox is getting traded to Miami, GM Kenny needs to be hired ASAP
Waiting for free agent fox fits spurs timeline much better, than trading now and not getting more pieces in the draft for the big team.
Agreed. They already lack depth and are no where near contention, so what’s the upside of trading for a max contract just to become a play in team?
Especially if you have to give up castle in the deal. Multiple firsts and a dude who might be a future all star just to get a bit better and change your team’s dynamic.
As a Fox fan, I'm feeling conflicted.
Same man, I'll always root for him but man I wanted him to retire a King.
As a Fox fan, I'm rooting for his next team. THE KINGS ARE POVERTY.
He deserves better than the Kings face it
He got his coach fired. Now demanding a trade. What a scumbag
@@mrincredibleisthagoat I'll always root for him no matter where he is, but I never would've thought this might happen.
as a kings fan i have no idea why we’d trade fox and still try to compete, if you’re gonna trade him just get as many picks+ young talent as possible and fully reset i dont love trading one of the best players in franchise history to try and make a play in spot
Fox on the rockets or spurs would be nice
He would ruin the rockets
Jimmy Butler should take notes from Fox on how to properly set up your exit from an organization.
Windy knew
Fox for VanVleet, Shepard, Brooks, and a pick or two. That’s just a blueprint but lowk that’s pretty fair
Pretty fair???? Bruh two vet role players, a rookie who can’t crack their rotation, and a single pick for the kings franchise star????
As yourself this: why would the kings be happy with this return? THE WOULDNT.
I knew after we traded Hali that this team was gonna trade Fox sooner later. I'm tried of my team doing this
Didn’t the trade Hali because they got a better offer than Fox? Still think the Kings should’ve kept Hali but
@TheJalinmyles the team owner was fixated on making the play-in that we mortgaged our future. It's happening again
@@Sahhhad ehh id say Haliburton would've been worse, he's very much a guy who is only as good as the guys around him. He's not really a guy who can create his shot when things aren't going well, when the team plays bad he plays just as bad most of the time
@Sahhhad Haliburton at this point is what he is.
This is treasure, appreciate for adding tons of entertainment!
Tbh as an okc fan gimme fox for draft picks, topic and dieng
@5:20 because we have no idea what could happen in a year and a half. The Carmelo situation was dumb. They couldve waited. The Spurs wanna compete NOW!!! So get him now before he gets hurt or something
Why do the spurs wanna compete now when their core is so young and the west is so stacked
Ima neeeed the rockets video kb
Been waiting for this
Come to Chicago my boy
Put him with spurs let the magic begin
Rockets make sense to me. they’re really good, but they also have a couple obvious weak links imo (vanvleet and brooks overpaid), and arguably too many young prospects. Plus lots of draft capital.
I can’t grasp the hopium that believing he hasn’t requested a trade 😂
I haven’t requested a trade but I’ve made it known my preferred destinations!!
He (and his wife) coming home #GoSpursGo
this situation breaks my heart but I understand Fox's frustration
Kenny, " this trade deadline ain't it"
The nba " hold my beer"
LeBron had been on multiple teams but he never got traded because he knows it will ruin his next team's assets (chance for upgrade)
Lebron was traded to the heat in a sign and trade
In hindsight i think most of us thought in the short term CP3 was the big payoff from that statement but now who knows?
i want De'Aaron fox on the wolves!! (get rid of randle)
haven't heard "what's the word y'all" in a minute :(
To me it's not all about De'Aarron wanting to play with Wemby. He also grew up in Texas and probably wants to go closer to home. And realistically, SA is one of the few teams lacking a true starting PG on a team with solid talent.
Spurs could do something special since wembys on his rookie contract which lets the roster building be incredibly flexible
I don’t see any team making a move for Fox, unless the spurs are willing to trade for him to make a playoff run this season. There isn’t a better potential landing spot for him so I don’t really see him changing his view on where he wants to play and signing an extension.
Me and my friend were literally talking about what would happen if fox went to the spurs
the melo point a good point but melo wasnt being traded to be victors co star he was being traded to be the victor of his team
Man we spurs dont want fox. Castle 20 yrs. Old. Waaaaay more up side no
Why should spurs trade now? Because in 2 years Fox will be 29 lol.
The GM needs to be held accountable in my opinion and i think other fans ive talked to agree with that
MY KING😭😭
At this point what’s stopping me as a kings fan for setting Golden 1 Center on fire
If you are the spurs you don’t take that chance in free agency when he’s available now, any other team could swoop him up and max him out
If he doesn’t get traded and plays out the full year with the Kings watch out for the Nuggets in the summer. Jamal Murray would be officially be available in a trade. I would be surprised if the Nugs don’t reach out.
Kenny I need that hat where you get it
I misheard the very beginning of the video and I thought he meant Kevin got traded this season I was bout to flip my shit 😂😂
Whoever leaked he wanted to go to spurs did the kings dirty
Kentrell Beecham
reminds me of when donovan mitchell wanted to get traded to the knicks or heat and got traded to the cavs and signed an extension there the year or 2nd year after
Difference is Mitchell’s camp never actually said that, it was just a media narrative. In this case it’s rich paul pushing for it
rockets video??????
Trying to get to San Antonio is genius by Fox, decent team and he gets to keep more of his money as there is no state tax in TX.
What's crazy is I was thinking the sameting about the heat. Pat Riley is none for making that big of a move. Maybe not 7 teams but I see a 4 team trade.
At this point the nba just needs to move this team to Seattle and give them a reset as the SuperSonics
That would be a cool what-if on Carmelo. What if he stayed in Denver and left for NY in free agency
I think the Kings org realized Fox was the reason Mike Brown got fired and now they're trying to recover from their mistake
The kings org fired Mike Brown, how tf wouldn’t they have known that? And they’ve been so much better since that move lmao it might not be a mistake.
As a kings fan im tired of this stupid ass front office and ownership fucking up everything every year
RIP Jalen Johnson get well soon🙏
What?
Trade idea for minnesota to get fox
Timberwolves - Fox
Kings - Randle
Heat - Middleton
Bucks - Lavine
Suns - Butler
Bulls - Beal
obv not a perfect trade with salaries and picks but in terms of the big names being swapped this makes sense for the fox to minny situation. other than randle to the kings, who would probably get routed to a team like the nets or raptors for smaller contracts and role players. def not happening anyway but fun to think about
If the Spurs are De'Aron Fox's preferred destination I'm curious as to what the Spurs will have to give up both players and picks-wise if they want him.
0:41 shams chawarma
Honestly I would love to see him on the rockets not sure why they’d do it but I’d love to see it
KennyForReal the only one I’m listening to about this because he never hated on the Kings. The rest of the NBA community was talking Blow it 🆙 when we went on a huge losing streak and been Silent since bouncing back. NOW this is happening, yall got your wish. I hope you cowards happy.
Don’t see the twolves getting Fox but omg if they did I would be hyped
He’d be better suited as a 2nd or 3rd best option on a really good team. He’s not a #1 guy. He’d be even more successful in the east.
I personally think Fox wants to go to the Spurs because of the cap space they have. Spurs will most likely pay Fox A LOT of money £££. Yes Wemby is a HUGE factor but that paired with the £££ they can offer him compared to other teams just makes it seem like a no brainer
Any team can max him once he’s traded
The Magic should try to trade for him, I think it'll be a good fit with Paolo and the rest of the magic squad.
Good thinking Kenny 🦊 in Orlando would be so sick and we would get back great players and picks
Who would not want to be out after them getting an old debo
Jimmy, terry, jamie and first round pick from miami for fox 🙏🏽
Pelicans also could be an interesting spot
the best scenario if Fox got traded to Spurs, Spurs need to get rid either Sochan or Vassel since Kings wont take Keldon + picks
Lakers should create a package with Dalton Knhect for for Fox 👀
Kenny i think youre right, this is just sad all round. Looking at kings fans responses says it all
