And beautiful background vocals by Richard Page from Mr Mister..one of my favourites of Anne's. Grew up watching this very awards ceremony over and over..those were the days!
It's confusing with modern singers especially the women, it's almost as if to be famous you have to show more cleavage, and hardly have 'any' clothes on!
One of the best female voices ever and i agree that it's one of the best songs of the late 80's which is in my opinion the best decade in music of all time.

An early David Foster (over) production made great by one of the best voices of our time. Award shows often encouraged lip-synched performances back then to save time and other resources. This song was a new and risky direction for her. It paid off at the time (it was a respectable hit,) but it wasn't until her early 90s albums "You Will" and "Yes I Do" that her pop/country following returned to her enmass. Foster always pushes his artists out of their comfort zones with his vocal arrangments. This is evident if you listen to Mariah Carey's "Without You" and Celine Dion's "All By Myself." In this song, the stretch for Anne comes at the end of the bridge ("...you're the one thing...") and then toward the end of the song when it modulates to an uncomfortably higher key for Anne. I had the privilege of seeing her in concert in 1988. She handled the song very well vocally, but of course music-wise the production value was much different than heard on the record. Because of the tune's range, I'm sure it became increasingly difficult to perform live as the years went by and her voice became a little more limited, a natural occurrence as a vocalist ages. One of the more interesting fun facts is the album title on which the song appeared. The album is titled "Something To Talk About." Murray recorded it several years prior to Bonnie Raitt, but the record company advised that the song's theme might not sit well with most in her fan base. They kept the album title just the same, to perhaps spark interest. With the exception of one or two, most of the songs on the album contained synthesizers, a few suggestive lyrics here and there and strayed far from her usual sound. So I'd say they were smart in keeping the title. -For listeners who have not yet heard it, I would very strongly recommend her album simply titled "Anne," which was recorded ten years later in 1996. It features a duet with Aaron Neville as well as a song penned by fellow Canadian Bryan Adams (who also sings backup on the recording.)
J'avais 18 ans lorsque j'ai acheté mon premier disque d'Anne »Murray, j'ai maintenant 68 ans et toujours heureuse de l'écouter. Je suis de Québec, Canada.
That's the one thing about Anne's voice-its so unique and one of a kind- she could sing the telephone book- she has never sang a bad song on her whole career-her voice is so refreshing and soulfully comforting. Thank you Ann for just being you!!
Aloha Anne Murray and K L Holt !!! Thank you for posting "Now And Forever (You & Me)" Enjoyed your singing so much !!!!! A grateful fan, Robert S. J. Hu August 16, 2020.
I love this album. I have the 8-track called something to talk about and used to have the cd something to talk about. The cd had very low volume so gave it away. I kept the 8-track because it had lot more volume.
I saw Ann Murray in concert at the Irvine Ampher Theater. with my Aunt. Great concert. I arrived in California 2 hours before the concert. Was tired but it was worth it!!!!
The very first song I heard from her was " You needed me" and I was hooked ever since I discovered " Could I have this dance" Still wasnt disappointed The 80's came Still pleased. At some point she decided to go on tour.Unbeknownst to me it was her retirement/ fairwell concert. She played at UPAC in Kingston NEWYORK I AM STILL KICKING MYSELF IN THE ASS FOR MISSING THAT ONE PLEASE MISS MURRAY. COME OUT OF RETIREMENT FOR A LIMITED ENGAGEMENT?
Love Anne and she is so great live, don't know why they didn't let her sing. (Funny they have one male "backup singer" even though there are obviously female ones in the mix too!)
She named this album "Something To Talk About" because her record label at the time didn't think she should record the song. So much for music exec's. 5 years later Bonnie Raitt got it and it became a huge hit.
I never understood why this was considered country. It was #1 on the country charts. But didn’t get airplay on pop stations. On the other hand, songs like “Snowbird”, “Love Song”, “Danny’s Song”, and “You Needed Me” all were pop sensations. And none of them were as “pop” as this song. I love this song though.
C'est vrai je n'ai pas grand chose ajouter , mais juste un tout petit commentaire . Si au Canada il fait très froid je constate que les salles sont bien chaudes, et pourtant je n'était pas de dans pour le savoir .. Mes amis de Facebook
She never looked better in her life!!! To me, the highlight of her career!!! ....and of course it was NOT a life performance...most were not in those days...dah !
The most beautiful song, she ever made!! Ive always loved it ❤

We believed in decency back then, life wasn’t easy, but it had an integrity in it. Look at what we have now… someone invent a time machine!
It's confusing with modern singers especially the women, it's almost as if to be famous you have to show more cleavage, and hardly have 'any' clothes on!
Mejor explicado imposible.
