the problem here is that gearbox has CEOs that want money and don't care about quality. the dev team was making great content, as is evident from the new stages being amazing. then they got a super short deadline and had to rush terrible items out the door. reminder that the have to not only come up with the stats and effects of an item, but also need to make a model, textures, lore and translate it all in like 10 languages. there was basically no time left for playtesting.

I love Earendel's Space Exploration mod, but the space scaffolding (which has made it into this official expansion as the main spaceship material) is flat out ugly. It's even worse in video because the compression turns all of the noise into a flat gray blob. His buildings are definitely cool though.

theres like a 99.99% chance something like that will be an option at launch. Just not something they have added to the beta client. And even if it isn't an option for some unknown reason, someone will mod it in within 24 hours
I think an interesting colab idea for you and dosh could be: Start on 2 opposite sides (can be something like left and right). Figure out who can make what by some system. Examples include things that take iron, thinks that make copper, etc. Build all types of one thing on one side, or trupens side, and build all the other half of stuff on the opposite side and send them back to eachother. Since you wouldn't have to worry about half of the game essentially, it would lead to probably mass scale / really efficient builds.
The more I hear the heavy dislike of Gleba, the more I'm looking forward to it. It sounds like a challenging experience. What you touched on briefly, which I found disappointing myself, is that there is no "reward" to going to Gleba first. I really wish, seeing that it is the most uh, inhospitable planet let's say, that the tech reward would make up for it. I.e. you can go print resources on vulcanus, or print high tech on on fulgora, both very good upsides, but there should be a third path, where you can go suffer on Gleba but then get X unlock that makes up for it. Make it worth to want to go there FIRST. I hope the devs find a reason to send the player to gleba first. One thing I could imagine is some bionic improvements, something something alien plants and tissue, make muscles go stronger and engineer run faster or reach longer or carry more stuff (i.e. QOL upgrade mod, with Gleba tech). That would be a good incentive for example. I dunno, something to make it worth it to go there first. Please Trupen, make it happen.
I don’t know if maybe this will be a thing, but I keep saying that like how volcano planet gives you foundry’s for basically resources and some advanced crafting, fulgora the gives better circuit crafting and some natural advanced resources but rare, then Gleba needs to do something similar in the best thing would be having a new building for oil refinement and other chemical processes, basically a advanced lab that also does refining and has natural productivity in it like the others.
Biological upgrades (inventory size, intelligence for faster research, etc.) are likely. The expansion seems to take a lot from Earendel's Space Exploration mod, and the biological path largely revolves around that. It is the worst tech tree in the mod too.
Gleba sounds sick, it's exactly how I like to play my worlds. Very little resources, really spread out, but quite rich so they last a while. I get to build big train lines to go set up mining outposts.

So, when Trupen posted that he used a bug to beat the game super fast, the screenshot of the victory screen was in space. Now, he revealed that the "bug" was the hammer ship design. In another video (I cant remember if it was triggles' or Xterm's) they mention that Koverex said that beating the game is too easy in its current form and "it doesnt take long enough." So then, my theory is that you win the dlc by flying a spaceship and survivng for a certain length of time in space, much like the standard ending for Space Ex. This could also mean that the new infinte science could work like the last science in space ex as well.
What if instead of factorio it was freaktorio and instead of building factories you would release the starving group of people locked in your basement. Pretty pls?
I think the biggest thing that in part can elevate space age not only to "factorio quality" as mentioned (rather than mod quality), but even beyond that. Is the fact the dev team has access to doing things beyond what normal modding could achieve, since they're more able to modify core systems/mechanics/etc if it's needed to truly execute an idea. I am all here for it... a month feels like five years now, why can't October be here sooner already?

I understand why people might not like the concept of quality in factorio, but in reality factories genuinely make different level of quality items just as a matter of fact. Factories do not product the exact same quality of item no matter what, it just isnt possible at modern technological levels, and modern factories have to use quality assurance to check products before they are rolled out to customers.

I think the biggest thing that in part can elevate space age not only to "factorio quality" as mentioned (rather than mod quality), but even beyond that. Is the fact the dev team has access to doing things beyond what normal modding could achieve, since they're more able to modify core systems/mechanics/etc if it's needed to truly execute an idea.
I am all here for it... a month feels like five years now, why can't October be here sooner already?
Even Space Exploration had problems making bio research fun or useful. I can see why Gleba is probably not great
I wasn't even playing factorio while watching this but every time I heard the destroyed ping in the background, I'd have a small jolt to check whats destroyed.

I understand why people might not like the concept of quality in factorio, but in reality factories genuinely make different level of quality items just as a matter of fact. Factories do not product the exact same quality of item no matter what, it just isnt possible at modern technological levels, and modern factories have to use quality assurance to check products before they are rolled out to customers.
A lot of it is simply presentation. With the colored circles and mundane names it just looks like RPG loot levels
@@ResandOuies Ya I agree that I think people have a lot of preconceptions about tiered item systems in games that they are mentally applying to space age before they even use it, obviously I don't know if it will make the game more or less fun, but it sounds like you can kindof just ignore the system if you dont like it lol
@@ResandOuies People have been saying this tired line for a year now. It's really annoying. You have to literally ignore the whole of factorio's mechanics (like, the whole game) to think it has any similarity to RPGs. Who cares what it looks like or what the names are.
