Monochrome literally means one color. Those pants and top, and even the buttons, are such a great match. It’s a sewing stash miracle! Sorry for my multiple comments...
Yes, please! A trouser fitting video! I love your Lander pants, and think they fit beautifully. If you ask my opinion don’t take them in. You could lengthen them slightly, but, as we both have short(er) legs and a long torso, it may make us visually shorter. Love your top. The top half looks stunning. I agree with you taking in a bit of the bottom half. If you want to. Monochrome in my dictionary is one colour. Any colour.
Yes to the trouser fitting video! I’ve been sewing for over 50 years, but there is always more to learn, particularly with pants, and you’ve done SUCH a great job!
Thank you for your honesty when sharing your makes. It helps to know the steps that were a bit tricky and caused a bit of a headache, as well as the bits that went smoothly. I love that you strive for a good fit in all your makes - at the end of the day isn’t that one of the primary reasons so many of us sew our own garments? Your Lander Pants are fabulous - it’s great that you followed your own intuition to fit them in the end. It was definitely worth it.
Great makes Lizzie, that blue looks great on you. It is really nice to hear a maker confident enough and taking the time to get fits right. Most of the time you here sewists talk about the things that aren't quite right (me included) but can't be bothered to do anything about it. Well seeing you in your finished garments just goes to show that it may take longer but the end results look much more professional. It's one of the best reasons to sew your own clothes anyway, so that everything is tailored to fit our individual shapes. Keep it up, even if it's driving you potty!!! 😆👋👋👋
Thanks for sharing your lovely makes! You have become such a skilled seamstress! I have followed you for a long time and I admire your determination to get a good fit and to learn new skills, well done!
Coat: Wait till winter and you’re wearing dresses and sweaters to see if coat is too big. Trousers: love the fit. Don’t worry about it being too big, weight gain and age is common solution. They rock! Love your Nicco top! Great color selection with all your makes!
In Greek, "monos" means "one" and "khroma" means color. So you are perfectly right : "monochrome" means "in one coulour". Black and white is definitively not monochromatic.
Great makes Lizzy, they all look fabulous on you. Trouser fitting video would be wonderful. Monochrome is black and white or varying tones of only one colour… take care xx
I made a curved waistband for the Lander pants. They fit so much nicer than the rectangle / straight pattern piece. I also und that the buttons have to be sewn closer to the opening to have the fly sit nicely. I love the denim blue outfit; the colour is so lovely.
Your fitting videos are some of the best I've seen, so please keep making them! Watching your sewing journey has been so amazing (I'm am early subscriber). I hope you wear your coat with pride and joy. It looks fab on you! The pants look practically perfect! I look up to you for taking your time on fitting. I really struggle with that, partly because it's hard for me to grasp the toile process. I enjoy hearing what you want to do differently or better on your garments, and as you explain why, I can see what you're taking about and why. Before that though, everything looks so perfect! I think the same way about wanting my me made clothes to fit as custom as possible. You are right, monochromatic is for one color, any color. You are incredibly beautiful, and I love seeing you in that blue, as well as the purples, navy, and various shades of green. Your rib knit top looks so professional, as does everything else you made! Those bishop sleeves are gorgeous. I love your channel and all your sewing projects! 🥰
Hi - how lovely to see you…what fabulous makes, too! I know how much you love to wear navy (and you look great in it!) but, honestly, you look amazing in that beautiful blue. 🤩 I’d love it if you could do a pants fitting video - my fit issues couldn’t be more different from yours but I still find it interesting to see how the different issues are tackled and I think your presentation style is so considered and calm that you would explain everything really well. And well done on finishing the coat - you’re right: no one would notice about the narrow placket! 😉 Thanks for a great video. 💜
What lovely makes. I think the colours you chose suit you so well and everything fits wonderfwell! I would definitely appreciate a fitting video for sure.
Great video. The lander pants were my very first go at making pants. I think I made like 6 (8?) muslins and still couldn’t get it right. So what I ended up doing was taking a pair of J Crew shorts that fit me perfectly and measuring literally every single inch of them in every possible place and then transposing those changes to the pattern. That worked. Going forward, I think what I may do is find another pair of perfectly fitting pants and sacrifice them by taking them apart and using them as my pattern. In fact, I know for sure I will do that with jeans no matter how expensive they are. I figure I can make a hundred pairs going forward and the cost of the jeans I am sacrificing will still be less than the cost of a fitting class, and way more accurate, Anyway, that is what I came up with. My lander pants do fit great so I finally cracked the code. To your point of taking them all part to take them in.. wow. After having made many pairs now, I can say that is a big job. Anyway, your pants look great. Congrats.
You inspired me to by the Hannah dress and top :) I just loved that on you Lizzie and I'm looking forward to your video working this pattern to get such a great fit. You're inspiring me with your fit journey :) As you say, you can get a little perfectionistic (not just you but anyone) but once you've accomplished a great fit on one garment it's hard to settle for less! I've been working on my fit as well - you might enjoy Alexander Morgan's fit class. She has some brilliant videos on youtube as well. I did download and print off Closet Core patterns pant fitting guide and it is really good. Karina or Pins and Needles (youtube) has a whole pant fitting series on her channel that I've also found really helpful.
Yes please would really appreciate a trouser fitting video. I have made trousers but always go for casual styles with elastic in the waistband. Would really like to know how to fit this style of trousers. Love all your makes and that blue colour is so ideal for you! Many Thanks for putting this together and taking the time to share your sewing experiences.
Thanks for the pants fitting link!! I am actually making Closet Core pants and I need to adjust the fit. I thought I already had all of the tips they provide. This is awesome!!
Beautiful makes! Well done. I would love to see your trouser fitting process. I’m so intimidated to start my first pair of trousers. I’ve got the Anne Allen Persephone pattern all printed out and I don’t even know where to start. Eek!
Thank you for taking the time to share your makes with us. Well done on the coat; it takes fortitude to finish an old WIP. Coats and trousers terrify me lol
All of your makes are so beautiful. I love the coat but also wondered about the lack of a collar. I also wear turtleneck tops in the winter, I just don't like wearing scarves. The coat is very elegant looking. I would love to see a makes video for the Lander Pants. They look great on you.
I love your outfits. That top really brings out the blue in your eyes. I’d love to see what you’ve done to fit your wrap top. I’m about to make a wrap dress for my daughter and I’d be interested to see what you did. As for the Chloe Coat, I bought the pattern in the latest sale as I wanted to have the old design and I’d love to make it next year. The problem is that I’m allergic to wool (but ok with merino wool) so I need to think about what fabric to use
Perfect is overrated, finished is better. Everything you made was executed well and looked good on you. Only thing was the pants may need to be lengthen. Otherwise, you beat yourself up about minor stuff. If you make it again then you can tweak it. Take care and keep sewing!
Oh noooo I don’t mean to horrify anyone!! I didn’t worry much about fitting when I first started sewing and I purposefully chose things to sew that would be easier to fit, like jersey garments and looser fitting garments in drapey fabrics. Things like gathered skirts are easy to fit as you only need to worry about getting the waistband right. Please don’t let me put you off!! Now that I’m becoming more experienced I’m really enjoying learning about fit. Yes I’m making a swimsuit soon and it will be my third one. I’ll be sure to share it on UA-cam and Instagram once it’s finished 😊

monochromatic definition-containing or using only one color. I love your monochromatic outfit make. Always makes us look taller and thinner.

As always everything is beautiful

Great outfits! Yes please make a trouser fitting vlog! ❤️
Absolutely yes for the trousers fitting video! Love that trousers, fits perfectly on you, and the color is stunning. All your makes are beautiful! 😍
Lovely makes Lizzie. You put so much care and love into each item 💖
Yes please to trouser fitting. Great makes
I would love a trouser fitting video. I find pants to be very difficult to fit.
Coat: Wait till winter and you’re wearing dresses and sweaters to see if coat is too big.
Trousers: love the fit. Don’t worry about it being too big, weight gain and age is common solution. They rock!

You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy making your trousers 😊
Would love you to make a fitting video - it would be really helpful!
Lovely! I wanna see the fitting of the trouser, a video would be great!!
Great makes. I'd love a trouser-fitting video.
Just discovered your chanel. Great makes! Thanks for sharing and I'd really love a pants fitting tutorial
What you describe about trouser fit changes are why I generally prefer Burda for trousers. Their crotch curve is excellent.
Coat looks amazing
I personally would alter the trousers they are a really good fit! Lovely makes and you look really good in blue.
Beautiful makes! Well done. I would love to see your trouser fitting process. I’m so intimidated to start my first pair of trousers. I’ve got the Anne Allen Persephone pattern all printed out and I don’t even know where to start. Eek!

Yess as please make a video on fitting the trousers
Well done on finishing your coat Lizzie; it looks lovely
Fab, the blue is gorgeous on you. Monochrome can be correctly used either way meaning black and white or all one colour.
Thank you! And good to know about monochrome 👍🏻
Use the buckram waistband facing it comes in various widths and the waist will never stretch out
Lovely vlog, as usual, Lizzie! xx
Any fitting video would be very helpful, Lizzie! 👍

I have reduced a few me-made items by washing and putting in the dryer... I have to do this to RTW jeans all the time.
Congratulations on finishing the coat! I bet it felt great to get out of your ufo pile
Thank you and yes it absolutely did!!
Would love to see that fitting video!
Our rules have been getting really tight. Canada west coast

Those pants are fabulous and fit beautifully. IYes please, do a fitting video.
Very nice!
pants fitting yes please!!!!
What length did you make the lander pants in? Is it the ankle or boot length?
Perfect is overrated, finished is better. Everything you made was executed well and looked good on you. Only thing was the pants may need to be lengthen. Otherwise, you beat yourself up about minor stuff. If you make it again then you can tweak it. Take care and keep sewing!
😀
Your fitting issues horrify this new sewer! And you’re going to sew a swimsuit?
