  • As a first-year example of Martin's 14-fret D-28, this guitar carries its own historic importance, which was enhanced considerably when Norman Blake acquired it. Blake played this guitar extensively and it's pictured on the cover of Old and New, Blake and Rice (1), and Sleepy Eyed Joe.

One of the best. Tony told me after his old D-28, that Norman's and Eric Thompson's early 1940's D-28 was his other 2 favorite guitars. Tony really wanted to buy this guitar but it didn't work out for it to be.

My dad was born in 1934 and he has weathered many great and terrible storms in his life. Like this guitar he shows the stress and wear from the years, but also like this guitar there is such beauty that comes from the instrument which God has brought him to be.
