I have a 22 F450, and agree about the gear ratio. Towing my 15k 5th wheel it is great but driving across I-80 in the west with long stretches of 80 mph speed limits it would be nice to have 3.73 gears driving empty. It would be also be an improvement if the truck would use 2nd gear for starting off while in regular drive mode, and if tow/haul is selected then first gear is used.
I love my 4:30s doing hotshot, I don't speed and 70mph at 2k rpm is fine on 36k gvwc. Going uphill loaded is great too, it doesn't down shift as much. I feel like the transmission is under less stress. Ps engine break is pathetic. Thinking on buying a ram 5500 just for the engine break
I drive 2023 Ram 3500 Limited DRW for the engine break and it was quieter.. But now F450 is also quiet. . Downside on Ram is that it is 6 speed.. So, mpg empty is around 16 mpg
The 430s with 19.5 tires is a few decimals points away from 4.10 in f350. With 17 wheels. I have 2015 F350 max tow with wide front end and 17 inch wheels with 430 gears. It is great at getting 42k loads of round bales moving and hauling hay on sandy paastures with thay load. Better than F450 2019 with taller tires.
We are not in a war zone.. We don't need to back up any faster than 2-3 mph. 80 mph 2200 rpm is great.. For Ram 3500, 80 mph may be tad higher with only 6 speed transmission. Ram has better interior.
If you install 245/70 r/19.5 on the truck your new ratio will be 4.16 and that will save you fuel with 265/70r/19.5 your new ratio will be 4.02 the 245 would be best in my opinion? You'll just have to wear out the tires and then its up to you?
Nobody goes to spend 100,000 to buy in Ford F450 thinking this is gonna be fast
Imagine getting a speeding ticket for going in reverse.

430 is a low ratio. I'd put a taller tire / rim on it. Say 37,s. But it would help

Strobes are cool!

IT PERFORMS DANG GOOD, I HAD THEM ,AND I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAS THE 450 HAULING LONG DISTANCE WITH HAULING CALVES

The truck was made for hauling, not speed. Duh...
