Today I'll walk you through all the steps of installing a SIG Romeo X RDS onto a SIG P320 M-18 pistol. Some disassembly required but you can handle it!
You’re very welcome! Make sure you use only a 3/32” Allen wrench to get the screws out of the cover plate. When I took mine off the first time they were extremely tight. I tried using a metric Allen wrench and it wasn’t fitting right and I almost stripped out the screw heads. If you use an exact size you’ll be good.
The narrator did not mention the extractor that fell out until the reassembly was taking place. Also, no mention of using locktight on the screws. The narration was clear and crisp. The video work was great.
I didn’t mention it because it wasn’t relevant until the reassembly. I didn’t mention using any Loktite because it wasn’t specified in the instructions for installing the sight and it’s not necessary. Being a countersunk screw there is enough friction to keep the screw tight. I’ve got a few hundred rounds through the pistol now and nothings cone loose on me. Thank you for the compliment!
So far I am very happy with it! I am in the military and we switched to the M-18 from the M-9 (I have an M-9 too). I feel like the handling and grip and natural pointing characteristics are great with this M-18.
Unfortunately I don't! I specifically bought this Sig Romeo X sight for my M-18 because I knew it would be compatible. I'm a life-long iron sight shooter so this is my first RDS.
Very informative. I’m looking at the M18 but I don’t like the stock grip. Do you know of any aftermarket grip modules that fit the M18 Ca compliant. Thank you
Thank you! Check out Wilson Combat, they make aftermarket frames that a lot of people say are better than the stock Sig one: wilsoncombat.com/grip-module-wcp320-carry.html
@@SoCalPlaneSpotter thank you for getting back to me and with the information. Much appreciated however, I’ve looked into the WC grips and from what I’ve seen they don’t quite fit the M18 Ca trigger system. They had to Dremel to make space for the back of the MCU to fit. Thanks for sharing really enjoying the channel.
Honestly I haven’t done a ton of research into it because I am quite happy with the stock SIG frame on my pistol right now. I wonder if it’s the CA-added magazine disconnect that’s causing the issues? I am planning to delete mine soon. Maybe another video?
The WC module does fit, just need to remove the mag disconnect which is very simple, just one screw needs to be removed. Just did mine today. Follow sig guy for detail instructions
I’ve only got about 100 rounds through the pistol so it’s hard to say. That and I am not the worlds best pistol shooter so it’s hard to say if the POI shifting is due to the sight moving or my horrible trigger pulls. 😂 that being said the sight fights snugly on the frame, like it was made to fit there. I don’t think it’s going to move.
Optic cutout on sig slides have a slight dovetail to help with centering but I suggest pushing the optic forward towards the ejection port prior to tightening the mounting screws due to inertia force from the slide reciprocating.
I don’t want to give you bad information so I’ll let someone else answer. I don’t honestly know. This Romeo X is my first ever pistol mounted RDS so it’s all I know.
Hey brother kind of new here! I installed a flat trigger on my P320 M17. It has a delay on the pull for some reason. Do you know what is causing this issue? The original curved trigger works fine.
Unfortunately I haven’t changed out the trigger and I am not a gunsmith so I don’t want to mislead you, but it sounds like there is excessive play between the trigger and sear.
Does seem silly that they went with two different patterns for the same pistol. I think the two-screw setup is superior. I haven't heard anyone at work saying that they have experienced issues with the rear sight flying off, but I don't think we're putting hundreds of rounds through these things often.
Hey, so I just put an M18 on layaway at my local range. I’ve read that the military is having problems with the rear sight flying off on recoil, any truth to this? But I guess the military version only has one screw holding in the rear sight.
I am in a military service that uses iron sighted M-18s and I have not heard anyone tell me there has been an issue with the rear sight coming off. As you can see from my video, there are two screws holding the rear sight on this model and they have blue Loktite on them and I don’t foresee them going anywhere. All the same if you put this RDS on the pistol you’ll get the rear sight integrally added that way.
Double check before you buy, but I can't see why this would not fit. The M-18 and M-17, aside from the barrel and slide length, should be identical on the back end of the pistol.
From someone who is in the military. One military personnel in general dont take care of shit. Rather beat it up and let the next person deal with it. Secondly its absolutely possible manufacturers cut corners trying to fill such large order and in timely manner. Just a number of factors not aggressed in scenario
What he said! 3/32” Allen for the screws on the pistol. The screws that hold the sight onto the slide are included with the Romeo X in the box. One is for adjusting and zeroing and the other is for the two screws that hold it on.
Sig insists on making every model a little bit different than the other. My xcarry and full size x series have a rear sight dovetail and two screws removed from the top. I am a professional mechanical engineer.....these things enrage and baffle me so much as they think they are protecting their market share....when in reality they make me shy away from their idiotic ideas.
@@SoCalPlaneSpotter so here is a question. If you wanted to use a Romeo 1 pro red dot how would you be able to have a backup rear iron sight?....see what I mean?
With this pistol and sight combo it is impossible to leave the rear sight on. The screws that hold them to the slide don’t go through the Romeo X, it covers them over. Check the video to see what I mean. The Romeo X has iron sights integrated into it.
Thanks. Next stop the mag trigger lockout video 😂. 😎✌🏻

Thanks man! I think my next video will be comparing the M-18 to the M-9 as I own both and have carried both in the military now.
nice video.,,, 👌
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Shouldn't we put some locktite on The screws? Also, shouldn't we use proper torque pounds/inches when mounting an optic?
Go ahead! I'm sure it won't hurt. I used my calibrated elbow and no Loktite and the sight is staying on just fine. Do your thing.
Do happen to know what kinda of plate I would need for my M18 to fit a RMR type sight on it?

This is the Pro version.

Certainly can’t hurt. I did have some forward and down pressure when tightening due to the loaded chamber indicator.
I was having issues but tried this with forward pressure and blue loctight. Seems to have worked.
Did this video help you or was it something else?

How come your red dot didn’t have rear fiber optics ?
I guess because the model I got didn’t come with them. 🤷🏻♂️
