Portugal Requirements to Rent:
Portugal requires a "fiador" or "guarantor" to rent a home, if you don't know anyone you can use a bank as your fiador for a fee through a service that’s called "Garantia Bancária" (Bank guarantee).
-Offer to pay a couple of months in advance instead of using Fiador.
-It is a legal requirement for all property that is being commercially advertised for sale or to rent to have an Energy Performance certificate rating: The ‘Sistema de Certificação Energética dos Edifícios or SCE is valid for 10 years and measures the energy efficiency of a property on a scale of A+ (top rating) to G (lowest rating).
-You should ensure that the property has been granted a rental license by the local council (alojamento local). This is the landlord's responsibility in order to pay proper taxes.
-You need to sign a rent contract (must be written on both English and Portuguese)
-It’s standard for landlords to ask for the equivalent of two months’ rent as a security deposit before you move in.

Thanks for watching! 😊 We have taken the doggies to cafes, restaurants and parks. We also have a few enclosed dog parks near us with agility equipment that are great. We feel Lisbon is pet friendly and most places that have outdoor seating allow dogs. Also, we've taken them on the ferry but not on the metro or trains yet. We have seen other dogs on both though. Che is 9 years old and just can't walk as long as he used to so we don't usually take them out for the day, only to places near us. They stay home snoozing when we go out sightseeing or downtown.

Excellent content as usual. Inflation in the U.S. is running very high. How is it in Portugal?
Thanks! Inflation is on the rise in Portugal though not as crazy as the States. It was at 2.8% in 2021and has been well below 2% for years here.

thank you César! we have a lot of fun making the videos. I used a DJI Osmo action cam, my pixel 5 phone is also useful for many shots and the drone is a DJI Spark.

yes! you can travel and getting easier to do so as covid restrictions are slowly being lifted

I take that you were able to use temporary accommodations to get your D7. Could you have done the same at the SEF ?
yes. The temporary accomodation we used was good for the SEF appointments also
