Another great job, Andy. I'm glad you added a new edit of James Street exibited at TINGS - that layout is truly astonishing. I saw it in person and I couldn't (and still can't) wrap my head around the complexity and detail .The fact that you found that it takes three hours to erect and two to tear down for each show is quite amazing. That's what makes your channel compelling, you take the time to research and communicate the details. We can all watch layouts with trains running with no context, it soon gets very boring.
A couple of things jumped out at me on this video - "Melton Mowbray" @ 23:17 - that cattle market is a lesson in patience and determination! All the trackside and scenery on that layout is great, but the market is really a great piece of modelling.
Also "Scarlington" @25:06 shows a very nice pastiche of Admiralty Arch and Nelson's Column seen from Northumberland Avenue in London. Maybe there are other arches and columns, but that view looked very familiar and I enjoyed it. I often stay in a hotel just off the square and it rang a bell. If that was the modeller's intention, great job!
Keep up the great work, Andy, and congratulations on your 1000 subs landmark.
It's great to be inspired during lockdown, as long as you can source the stuff you need!

Hi Steve, hope you are all keeping well in LA. Thanks for your comments always appreciated. I have to agree with you about James Street it is truly a masterpiece of the model railway art. Eighteen years of work and they are still adding to it. I haven't spotted the pastiche items you mention on Scarlington I need to go back and have another look. I've met the crew with that layout a couple of times now - what a great bunch of lads. All really keen modellers.
I'm coming to the end of my model railway source material only a few weeks left but I have more interesting video's to come which will give you a different perspective on the hobby. Let's hope they will be as popular as the 'inspiration' series has been.
      Stay safe.

Very interesting videos. Thanks for all your hard work to bring inspiration to us ex-modellers rattling around under the lockdown :)

My pleasure! You don't have to be an ex-modeller during lockdown. Why not dust off your old tools and maybe you still have some stock. Become a modeller again during lockdown and have some fun. Stay safe. Andrew

Congrats on cracking the thousand. Thoroughly deserved. With the level of quality on your videos with very clear narration I'm sure it will be onward and upward from here. Thanks and keep up the great work. ( Is that your live steamer behind you, it's a beauty? )

Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to the show season staring up again. That is my 5" gauge live steam loco you can see in the background. The club I'm a member of have a 2.5 Km ground level track which is 5" and 71/4" gauge as well as one of the best model railway clubrooms in Scotland. When I've finished my 'inspiration' series I'll publish a few video's of our larger scale model railway. It's impressive. Stay safe. Andrew

My only problem with N scale is I can't find the locomotives I want at this scale (I don't have a layout yet) but I don't see many manufacturers producing N sacle Canadian Steam so If I did a layout I would have to go HO i think for this reason totally

Hi, Good luck with your search for Canadian N scale steam. It's not an area I'm familiar with.

Are you sure Lammernuir was n-gauge? It looked rather large for N.

Hi Dominic, Thanks for your comment. I can defiantly confirm that the layout is N Scale. If you don't believe me here is a link to the Greenock Model Railway Club website that confirms the scale of the model www.greenockmrc.co.uk/layouts.html

@@andygebbie I guess it just makes the point, that n-gauge has really come of age.
I have been armchair model-railroading for the last 20 years, and I am going to start my Lindsay model railroad soon. 1870-80 in Lindsay, Ontario. 4 railroads met in this (now) small town, and as many as 400 trains per day passed through the station(s), carrying timber. farm produce, passengers, mining extracts etc. My biggest challenge is shortage of locos and rolling stock in the period, but it's fine to have a dozen 4-4-0 with cosmetic changes.

Hi Dominic, I wish you well with your Lindsay project. I sounds like quite a challenge. Regarding N Scale my analytics show it is the most popular of scales particularly in North America. I get more views for N gauge layouts than any other. Andrew
