Model Railroad Switching and Operation Session!

- Today we are not doing a tutorial. Today I am running a short ops session on my model railroad. Model Railroad switching and operations is one of the most fun things that you can do with model trains. They bring a model railroad alive and make it more than a loop of track on a board.

“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.
Don’t fret because of evildoers;
don’t envy the wicked.”

That definitely was a mighty rough looking op session
Great op session.
RIP Boxcar x Tree
Very Cool Jimmy, always enjoy your switching videos, if you need them trees trimmed back from the tracks I'm your man, all you pay for is getting me there and back, the rest is free 😆 Thanks,
Nice ops session, Jimmy! It was fun. ...Roy
Awesome...love watching switching ops....
fun times. we build it so we can run it. nice operating session
Great looking layout.
Looks like fun thanks for sharing
This was awesome! I really hope to model a local short line one day so this was very informative and fun to watch!
Hey Jimmy you can even run a Maintenance of Way train too.
Good show Jimmy 👍
Nice video. Perhaps next time you could briefly show the track plan so we can understand the movements better. Thanks for sharing.
Hmmm.. who woulda thunk an arborist would be needed on a model railroad ;)
Cool Switch Op!! What have You been feeding to those trees?
Great video! Which editing software do you use?
Great video. Which editing software do you use?
HO too finicky and small for me. Hate how they derail or jump the track so often. Everything has to be PERFECT. can't even understand N scale lol great video though!!
Hi I'm really new to model railroading but I love it just starting I'm wondering how do you couple and uncouple the cars the way that you're doing I would really like to know how that is done thank you
I actually do that through the magic of video editing, but typically I use a bamboo skewer to uncouple them. I just push it in between the couplers and it will uncouple them.
Is it dc or dcc also awsome layout
Jimmy glad to see some trains running,Plus enjoy the bloopers. It just goes to show,it is not easy making the videos.Stay safe everyone, wear your mask, and lets hope for Peace in the world. BLM.🚂🌍✌
Hey Jimmy! Looks like it's time for the RR maintenance crew to trim a few limbs back. Really cool ops session. Do you come up with everything in your head on the fly as to what your dropping off and picking up or are you using a car card/waybill system? Also let me know if your going to make some of those tanks in HO. I could use those for my engine facilities for diesel refueling. Thanks! - Jason
Hey! I am currently taking some time off with my family, but I have the 3D Model for the HO Scale Tanks designed!
@@DIYDigitalRailroad awesome! Enjoy time with the family and let me know when you get it uploaded to your Etsy store and I will try to get two if space permits. No rush! Thanks Jimmy! - Jason
Jimmy, I purchased some of your buildings. They are great. Do I need to use primer on them before I paint? I have never had 3D printed buildings before and one seemed a little sticky (tacky) but I wasn’t sure what to do. Didn’t know where to write so I just added my comment here. I enjoyed the switching operations.
Hey Frank! Thank you for your purchase. I actually pre prime the buildings. So if they were stored in the heat. They may have gotten a bit tacky.
What's up. I love your model railroad videos. These are all ho scale stuff you got, right? Do you come up with these operations?
This is actually N Scale! Yes I design the operations.
Curious if you have some automatic uncoupling system or you just editing out when you manually uncouple?
just useful editing, you can see the trees get bumped between edits (and a car derail).
tree- hit. 1:23
