Your WiFi network is a LAN (Local Area Network). All Wyze Cam devices work if you are on the same WiFi network with your phone whether or not your router is connected, Your internet connection is a WAN (Wide Area Network). If you and your phone are at the store and your LAN loses internet connectivity you cannot access your cameras till you are close enough to reconnect to your LAN. If your internet goes out the camera will still record constantly to the capacity of the SD card you installed, then begin overwriting oldest footage first. Called FIFO or First In/First Out. What it won’t do is record 15 second motion detection clips to the Cloud since the Cloud is only accessible via internet. Hope this helps.
Thank you. You just saved me ten minutes and 33 seconds for most answers I was looking for. Still curious why there is no mention of offline recording motion clips onto the micro SD. Is the motion sensor activity only processed in the phone app? Is there any other brand that records motion clips on the camera just like simple trail/nature cams?
*My old camera started flippin out so i bought a **Newest.Technology** one. Was really excited about the talking feature but my friends said “we can hear your voice through the front door.”10/10*
Thanks for testing and taking one for the team "UA-camrs" 👊 My Dad is in an Senior Citizen Building, and he is claiming they are coming into his home when he isn't their. He has no wifi, but if I can at least get these cams to work and then go over his house later and review events when he left his house, I can either prove him wrong or prove him right. He does have memory loss issues, so it's likely no one is going into his home, but we must still investigate as a good family should. We all know elderly people are abused and taken advantage of, and most people will put it as complaints from a whining older person and because of that reason is why so many staff members get away with abuse and taking advantage of the Elderly. I don't want to guess it's not happening, I want know know for sure if it's is or if it's not. These Wyze Cams will be of great help. I have a few extra Wyze Cams around as I switched to Eufy 2k Pan and Tilt Cams so I can forward them to my Dad's place for wellness check recordings. Thanks alot 👊
Can anyone tell me if there is a camera that will work just off of your phone? At my work I need to constantly monitor an area 25ft away that isn't visible from my location. Is there a camera that will operate without wifi and play on your phone. I can run power to the camera if needed but the only internet will come from my phone. Hopefully I explained that clearly. Thanks
I have found if the app is open and camera is on the same WiFi network. I can still get video. What I did was put mine on battery back up for router and cameras. I have found notifications don’t work for me when internet is disconnected but cameras still work.
I did the same thing with my solar battery bank (20,000mah) on my wyze v3 cam. Easily ran for 1 day. Could have went longer easily. Thought I was the only one that did stuff like this lol.
All my security cams along with my separate modem and router are on power UPS backups which gives my cams/mod/router over 12hrs of power backup and all my cams do the same thing when it comes to live view Thur local WiFi if internet goes down and still record locally to micro sd cards which can be view locally or later when internet comes back online..
I was surprised when I traveled a couple thousand miles from my cameras at home to find that they worked great, so I could keep an eye on things even so far away. I put all my cameras in a group so I view them all at the same time on one screen.
A lot of comments here, but nothing clear Can I put the camera somewhere without internet and record on SD? And when I need to see, just take the SD out and check the recordings on my laptop? Or doesn't work without internet?
With my set-up, as long as your WiFi is on, you could do that, or watch just thru the Wifi even without Internet. It all depends on how your Wifi/modem is set up.
Ok so I got an update for the question I asked...I got the answer my self :)) I bought the camera and I can tell you that she is recording if you put a card inside.. that's it, you don't need wi-fi...you can go take out the card and look at the footage when you want.
How does one setup Cam V3 if one does not have internet but has a router (box is power on, "Internet may not be available" shown on Android cellphone/tablet (WiFi is set to ON)? A complete step by step would be wonderful. Again, have a latest Verizon router with network and password (label on on router)
I'm pretty sure you need internet to set them up. After they are set up, probably not, depending on your router. My system was set-up with internet on. If you don't have internet, you'll need to at least borrow some kind of mobile hot spot to get everything set up.
@@TheFloridaprepper You are correct. I returned them all back because they were useless. No internet nor cellphone services in my areas, which I liked. Just have real weapons around.
My guess is the internet is off, but there is a separate router giving you wifi. Wyze cameras and phone are both connected to the wifi. But there is no internet so the the other app can't communicate.
Not sure I am clear on exactly what you did. Did you disconnect the router from the modem, and leave the router powered up? If you don't have internet access, how can you see the live feed???
The Comcast Gateway I use has both the Modem and Router in the same device. I disconnected the internet cable, but the router is still on and still transmits Wifi. The cameras and phone app still operate from the Wifi. Things like smart bulbs, smart outlets, and motion sensors don't work and seem to require an internet connection. Obviously you can't access cloud storage either, but microSDcards installed on the cameras are accessible. May not work the same on different set-ups.
@@TheFloridaprepper Thanks for your response. I am using a camera with an SD card in my hangar, but without internet connectivity, or a router. I am having an issue with it just taking movement pics. But I have an old router I could also set up so I will try that too... thanks again...

The cameras will record on the microSD card. But without WIFI, you would have to physically take the card out and look at it on a computer. You need WIFI, but not internet to view the cameras and card on a mobile device like a smartphone.
