    *Great product. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I have never used a baitcaster before and did a lot of research before buying this one. I bought it with the Torrent casting rod as well and it works very nice.*

    Well, I really appreciate is that you didn’t use 100 pound test to do this demo like everybody else does and makes it look so easy. It is much harder to tie this knot, which I tie very often with 15 pound braid and 8 pound fluorocarbon.

    Very detailed. Great explanation. The mistake I was making. That last pass thru of the tag end at the loop. I was not going between the braid and the floro. Thank you Hunter. You've helped this old coach into the 21st century. Caught my first 12" bass on a yellow crank at 10yrs old. That was 1958. Been catching them since. Thanks again.

    Super nice video! Alberto knot and improved Albright are the same knot. I’ve used that connection to catch Tuna over 100lbs. It will definitely stand up to bass fishing. I’ve been using the Improved Albright for over 20 yrs.

    Interesting variation on the crazy Alberto--I like it. Going through that last small hole before going through the main loop at the very end basically adds a one turn clinch/cinch at the end of crazy Alberto to double lock it with the square knot/finger trap knot at the very end

      @@russdennis7026 then if u still don't want to use the fg use a double grinner, twice thru the loop of mono/flouro then ten turns and make another loop and make ten turns within that 2nd loop. Pull to tension and slide up then tease back to fully tighten. This is the knot i used when i first started using braided hooklinks for carp fishing and came a cropper a cpl times, it never slipped after that.

    I have to disagree, I never had a wind knot until I used braid. Nylon Mono is more susceptible to stored energy with line twist because of its elastic nature, which can cause a tangle. What do you think? Nice looking channel and videos though.

  • @TheGrkBoy

    I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

    I love double uni knot and it works for me the best at this time, because in front of this knot goes "braid part" and its smaller, so its more "friendly" to guides.. At Alberto (Albright) knot in front goes FC "lefts" and it really feels when it comes through the guides in my opinion. And I have to mention that all knots must be tie again every time You fish..

    When your putting braid on your reel do you put some monofilament on the spool first and then braid or do you tie braid straight on the spool?because heard that you shouldn't because the braid will dig in to the spool.

    • @HunterShryockFishing
      @HunterShryockFishing  8 років тому

      I've done it both ways but I prefer to use a little bit of mono first to cover the the slick surface of the spool. This way your braid wont slip on the actual spool.

    How does this knot compare to the FG knot? I fish in Salt water is it still effective?

    • @adrianwalker9416
      @adrianwalker9416 5 років тому

      Mark in my opinion both knots are good. Like hunter said, if you're not using micro guides on your fishing pole/rod, this knot will be fine. The FG can be tricky to tie but once perfected it is a much better knot for casting. Salt or fresh water won't effect the knots in the short term, but like most things salt water will slowly deteriorate your knots so I change them out every 3rd or 4th trip if your leader length lasts that long. Good luck, tight lines.

      No problem with failure when tied correctly- if I'm practicing I'll run out of retying my fluro to the bait before I have to retie a new leader on. Gone days with it where I dont retie it and boat flip many fish on it.

    • @HunterShryockFishing
      @HunterShryockFishing  8 років тому +2

      Absolutely! Try to keep the diameter of the two lines about the same size (this helps the knot be tied correctly). So using 30lbs braid w/ 15lbs fluro or 40-50lbs braid w/ 20lbs fluro (just examples- find what works best with the lines you use). Hope this helps!

    What pound braid do you throw Texas rigs with?

    • @HunterShryockFishing
      @HunterShryockFishing  8 років тому

      The size of the braid is dependent on the size Flurocarbon I want to use. So if I'm using 20lbs Flurocarbon, Ill use 40lbs Spiderwire Stealth braid. If Im using 15lbs Flurocarbon, I'll go down to 30lbs Spiderwire Stealth SMOOTH braid. Matching the diameters of the line to be somewhat the same size ensures a strong knot.

    This knot doubles the fg, it increases the thickness and thu cut part of the fc leader is looking forward, it will cause loosing speed during shot when the CAK is running through the rings of rod. FG Knot is much better tha this knot, it is not doubling the FC leader and there is no knot on the FC leader.
