Maryland's Mind Eraser was a friend of mine's first roller coaster ever when he was 19 years old. He had never gotten to go to any theme parks earlier in his life as he grew up in rural Pakistan, but he absolutely adored the heck outta that thing. It was worth my neck pain for the joy on his face
@@pcfllms it depends on the body type see I have a wide back so like my head just get pushed really hard against the headrest and I don’t get pingponged
I'm not even a rollercoaster rider, but I like watching coaster videos because I find the engineering and ride experience design interesting. Your account is so excellent because even when you give a poor review to a coaster, you're usually able to include some positive edge to it. It's because of that, I think this video is well-earned! Since you're so generous in your reviews, I know your "worst of" can be trusted because you don't just look for things to complain about. Heck, even in this video you gave two of the rides somewhat the benefit of the doubt!
I can never ride a roller coaster 🎢 again because I had brain 🧠 surgery for my movement disorder I have only rode one adult roller coaster it was Timber Wolf in Kansas City Missouri at world’s of fun
Im autistic and theme park attractions are my special interest, and you are my one stop shop for information !! i love how thoroughly you look into each ride and how you add little anecdotes or fun facts along with them ! thank you :D
You didn’t even mention how god awful mind eraser at darien lake LOOKS, they sandblasted it like five years ago and then never repainted it so there’s just big gray patches, it looks like the coaster is rotting
Haahahahaha! Rad comment, I love how hardcore fan coaster lovers can be! And it’s so funny to see a bunch of fans agree which ones suck the most, classic!
It’s really sad, because Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain was one of my favorite coaster of all time. Riding in the back with the original trains was honestly not rough and one of most thrilling experiences, especially on the final trip up the vertical spike upon returning to the station. One of the best coaster experiences of my life but sadly agree and understand what that coaster became with the new premier trains as I was able to ride both iterations. I couldn’t believe how horrible it was. Sad to see my beloved turn into such a problem coaster. RIP the good times
@@jrlaps521 I thought I remembered that Aftershock had the original trains still! It does still have a lot of down time though ): It’s usually closed or having temporary maintenance issues everytime I go.
I only rode it once at Magic Mountain, don't remember too much about it except that first drop since me and my ex were sitting in the back. What I do remember a lot better is why I rode it that day. It was the only time I had ever visited Magic Mountain while that coaster was there where it was actually running. It was a constant joke every other time I'd been there that it was basically just a glorified decoration since hardly anyone I knew had actually been able to ride it.
I'm gonna be honest, while your usual positive and complimentary commentary on rides is very pleasant to listen to, it *is* nice every now and then to hear you GO OFF on an absolutely terrible ride. Way less scripted sounding, much more relatable. Great video! (Also, never knew you were a CT resident. Hope to catch you at Lake Compounce sometime :])
I rode Condor in Walibi Holland in 2019 and it had the original restraints and it was so bad that I almost blacked out and got a concussion due to the extreme headbanging.
“rocks in a blender, during an earthquake” had me dying💀. i’ve been watching your channel for years! i love how knowledgable you are & how much i’ve learned. each video is always entertaining. thank you!
Flashback at Magic Mountain is by far the worst rollercoaster ever. We used to say that they named it flashback because you get flashbacks as if your life is ending while on it. Guaranteed to give you a concussion, whiplash, and end your day. Because of this rollercoaster I avoid any and all over the shoulder restraints. I have PTSD because of it. It's the stuff of nightmares.
Is it the same design as the mind eraser at Elitch Gardens in Denver? If so, totally get it. Surprisingly, the wooden coaster at that park is really smooth!
My local amusement park is Six Flags America and when I rode Mind Eraser, I was just like, “Nope. Never again.” My heart honestly filled with joy when I saw it being the worst in your worst coaster list. I hated Mind Eraser in Six Flags America and honestly, I’d love to see it be gone. I hated it. I also hated Ragin Cajun but that’s probably gone now.
Oh goodness, i was at Hershey on the 30th last month, and wildcat was closing on the 31st. I decided to take one last ride even though I've never had a good ride on it. The rest of my day was destroyed by nausea and i never got the chance to ride the new candymonium, as well as some other staples at the park. I at least got front row wing on sky rush earlier
I am with you. I rode it with my niece and nephews on our family trip in July as they grew up with it and wanted to ride it before it closed. Plus the height requirements were low enough that they could all ride. My 14 year old son and I both agree once was enough. I have back issues to begin with and this made it so bad I had trouble waking after the ride. And my son ended up with a horrible headache. The things we do for family.
The Wildcat was fun at first, but the track just got to rough honestly. I’m originally from the Hershey area, and have taken my son two times…but Knoebels is better at keeping their wooden coasters more enjoyable.
Luckily Wildcat is almost certainly getting RMC'd. And thank god for that is all I can say. Hershey's my home park, and I have some good memories with Wildcat, but yeah, the years weren't kind on it.
@@TheVerruckMan Well I have some good news. According to Wikipedia, “Following the announcement, the park teased a possible future for the ride on social media, asking the question, ‘Any suggestions on what we could do with 3,100 feet of wooden track?’ Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) replied on Twitter stating, ‘We have a few ideas...’, leading to speculation that the retired ride would be rebuilt by RMC as other rides have been in the past” :D
As a Canadian I can absolutely agree about the Minebuster. However, it was also the funniest part, I remember many a rides where myself and my friends just laughed the entire ride and how horrible the cars were shaking hahaha
The worst coaster I’ve ridden is time warp at Canada’s wonderland. But it’s worth mentioning that my entire bottom 3 are coasters that I knew would be bad going in. The worst coaster that I didn’t expect to be bad was Firebird at Six Flags America. That thing was horrid. I would throw a party if it closed. Edit: It’s an honor to have won your contest!
@@triplej755 It's very tempting to make a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" reference... BUT I'm going to spare everyone... and see myself to the door... ;o)
In Canada, we often call it "the great Canadian ball buster" although that's less UA-cam friendly...lol. Glad to know you took a spin at our amusement park!
As someone that has Carowinds as my home park Vortex is one of the few coasters I downright refuse to ride. I always hear nothing but horrible things about that torture machine. That's one of the few coaster credits I have no desire to obtain at Carowinds. I seriously hope they tear that down and replace it with something better like a dive coaster.
That ride wasn’t too bad, the worse part was probably standing on the break run in the hot sun for like 5 minutes, Carolina concussion (cyclone) was way worse
As a New Jersey resident, my home park is Six Flags Great Adventure and I'm glad that you gave the Great American Scream Machine the burial it deserves. I understand that it helped revitalize the park, but it was painful the whole way through, especially for a taller rider like myself where those hard orange restraints felt like knives digging into my shoulders. Superman Ultimate Flight is a much better ride experience, as was just about every other coaster in the park with the exception of Skull Mountain.
The very first adult roller coaster I ever rode was Flashback at Six Flags in Magic Mountain. That basically ruined our day. I didn't feel how rough it was, but my Dad is a member of ACE and we had to go back to the hotel that day because his neck was sore. My Dad has rode some insane stuff. He's bungee jumped. He's done hang gliding. Flashback was the only thrill ride that ever made him say "that was a horrible mistake."
Bandit in Movie Park Germany. Stay the hell away from it, it was one of the rides I had during my day there and I got a pretty bad migraine and sore muscles from just one ride. The other half of the day I spent lying in bed the hotel room with a heavy dose of paracetamol to try and get rid of the headache.
The worst rollercoaster I’ve been on was Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. It was a wooden racing rollercoaster that had a lion side and a tiger side battling each other. It was extremely rough, headache inducing and spine jerking. I could only ride 1 side per visit. They have since demolished it and replaced it with Iron Gwazi, a hybrid wooden/metal roller coaster.
I actually LOVED Dejavu at magic mountain. I’m extremely sick and tired of “boomerang” coasters being literally everywhere, honestly it’s probably my least favorite coaster type ever, but the inverted aspect really breathed life into it, I thought. I loved how the two towers were vertical, instead of just inclined, and the sensation of basically diving straight down at the ground off the first tower before pulling up and shooting through the station. I don’t recall my rides of dejavu being uncomfortable either.
If you want to experience the Giant Inverted Boomerang again, you can try Aftershock at Silverwood (Athol, Idaho). It's the Deja Vu that used to be at Six Flags Great America, it still has the old trains, and the park seems to take decent care of it.
@@MarsJenkar yeah it does, Silverwood is really good at taking care of rides. I mean the roughest one is timber terror but i think aftershock doesn’t get much love and is overhated. The other rides are great tho overall. I’ve got a story here haha, it was may of 2006 and I was only 5. my dad and my uncle went on panic plunge and screamed to the top and when it dropped they had a very loud scream. My dad goes over to my mom and says “did you hear me?” And the lady next to him goes “the whole park heard you” and to this day it’s still one of his Favorite rides.
@@tjharper7413 I hate panic plunge! They do take good care of their rides and have very few incidents, most common being the train getting stuck on one of the towers of Aftershock. Timber Terror is worth it for Scarywood, otherwise it’s pretty rough. Tremors is super loud and more annoying than I remember, I wonder if it’s due to the new parts of track.
Marylander here! 👋 Mind eraser came to mind instantly when I read the video title. 😂 HOWEVER, let me tell you about the now defunct The Cyclone in Williams Grove, -PA.. because it’s been like 17 years and I still have whiplash! 🤣
I laughed and clapped when CW's Spinebuster and SFA's Mind Eraser came up. They hurt! Mind Eraser looked like it was self destructing with the chunks of seat foam missing and weathered paint the only time I rode it. Didn't look much different 2 years ago when waiting in line to get a covid vaccine in the parking lot's mass vax site. CW's Flight Deck is amazing by comparison -- huge difference. SFA's Roar, Hersheypark's Wildcat (hoping for the RMC treatment!), and Kings Dominion's Intimidator 305 are also coasters I find painful and avoid.
funnily enough, I rode SFA’s Roar and King’s Dominion’s Intimidator 305 and they were decent. On the other hand, I haven’t rode HP’s Wildcat’s Revenge yet. (mainly due to the line)
@@anaknifamtayo8517 Roar and i305 are headache machines for me. They're not worth the ride. The new Wildcat's Revenge is absolutely an upgrade over the old Wildcat. There's a good reason why it has a long line -- it's great!
As someone who has Carowinds as their home park, Vortex is literally hell. It’s free leg pain. It looks cool, sure. Maybe because I love red, but I didn’t ask for Leg Torture
Great American Scream Machine was definitely rough, just like all old Arrow loopers. However, it was a walk in the park compared to Viper, the old Togo coaster at the same park. Viper was so rough that it left you feeling like a professional boxer had beaten you up. The car would shake non-stop during the entire ride and those shoulder restraints were the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced.
The Grizzly is fantastic! It’s my favorite woody for sure. That’s not roughness, that’s how it feels to be shaken and mauled by a 600 lb. bear! And that final tunnel at the end echoes with an incredible roar! The Grizzly is KD’s best kept secret!
Bro, taco bell discontinuing the cool ranch taco shells was terrible. They got rid of the shredded chicken too and I no longer had a reason to go there. Mean streak is the only coaster that ever gave me severe pain.
Unpopular opinion I rode Minebuster back in July and I loved how bumpy it was, it added character to the ride for me but that final jolt I did not expect lol. I do agree that some steel track could give the ol man some justice and improve the ride.
There is a kind of roughness that does add to the character, I call it a "Playful rough", however for Minebuster, it's past that point and is just flat out painful rough
Yeah I rode it last week too, and I always get so nervous but after I’m done I just wanna go on it again! I love Wilde beast too because it’s also bumpy!
I thought Great American Scream Machine was a great ride. I know it was a rough ride and all but I miss it very much. It was my first Arrow looper, and basically my first coaster with inversions in general. I rode it on my 12th birthday in 2010, and I didn’t think the ride was all that rough. I found it pretty extreme, but I loved it and hoped to get another ride on it the next year, but sadly it closed down weeks after. I actually cried after hearing about Great American Scream Machine being demolished, and I hoped that whatever would replace it would be something truly groundbreaking, but sadly all we got was a relocated B&M Stand-Up, and back then, I thought it was a decent replacement, but nowadays feel as though it’s an absolute dishonor to the Arrow looper that many people such as myself truly miss. If only Six Flags invested in getting a Wing Coaster as GASM’s replacement instead. I don’t hate Green Lantern or anything, but I kinda feel like that ride would’ve benefited at another park, and maybe converted into a Floorless. I do hope Great Adventure does get a B&M Wing coaster one day, and maybe a Dive machine too. As for the Arrow Mega-loopers, let’s hope that the two named Viper stick around for a bit longer.
Lol thank you I'm sick of all these crybabies bitching about how it was "soOOoOo unbearable". I'm the same age and i first rode it in 2006 when i was 8 and loved it. Aside from nitro it was my favorite in the park and i was devastated when they took it down. I'm hoping to be able to get to Magic Mountain to ride Viper before thats also gone just so i can sorta relive the experience haha.
About Sea Serpent, I rode it last year and found that it was fantastic! It was the first time I have ever voluntarily re-ridden a vekoma boomerang. I think it’s the best boomerang out there (better than jolly rancher remix and the one at Carowinds imo). I found it to be smooth, comfortable, and well-maintained. Definitely worth trying again sometime if you get a chance!
Green Lantern: First Flight is my least favorite coaster of all time. Nothing but crotch pain and neck snapping throughout the ride. My whole body ached after that ride. However, I totally agree with you about Wildcat, such a terrible attraction with its new track and trains. Worst woodie for me as well.
Grand National at Blackpool pleasure Beach is the ROUGHEST Ride I've EVER been on. I know that its over 80 years old, but you feel like your in a washing machine whilst getting violently flung into a river!
The old Vekoma Boomerangs always get a hard press! I went on the last remaining one in the UK two weeks ago, and yes, a bit rough with some terrifying knocks and bangs, but if you remember to hold your head still, you should escape with less than a headache.
My home park is Knotts Berry Farm. They took out an Arrow Corkscrew (I think the first one ever built) and replaced it with a Vekoma Boomerang, and... it was an improvement.
Lake Compounce has a Boomerang that I think is not bad. (It has a reputation for being one of the least painful ones out there, but it's the only one I've ridden. I admit I skipped it on my most recent visit, so my experience is from a while ago.)
I've ridden aftershock at silverwood. It's the exact same model as goliath except with the original trains. That coaster IS AWESOME. Now I don't know if the different cars really make it that much worse, but aftershock was very smooth and one of the best coasters I have ever been on. Even after traveling to cedar point, aftershock is top 3 EASILY.
I've never rode anything on this list but I do have some not-so-fond memories of my childhood experiences on roller coasters. We were living in Beijing at the time and we would go to this park consisted of 100% Chinese roller coasters/flat rides, and I even got the "honor" to ride Jiuhua Rides' first roller coaster. It consisted of one lift hill followed by one helix (forceless and too fast) and the brakes felt like the train was being slammed so hard into a metal bar that something bent. There was also a motorbike coaster (similar to Vekoma's, also made by Jiuhua) that I rode. Well my mom said that getting an X-ray was unnecessary, but my ribs didn't feel right for the rest of the day.
Worse one I’ve ever ridden was Mean Streak, Cedar Point. There was something fundamentally flawed with all those Dinn coasters. They never rode right and would slam you back and forth a good six inches and at full speed it was like getting shaken like a rat. The ride had its own dedicated carpentry department and they had to repair the structure every day and replaced the entire track every year.
I’m very glad I’m pretty much immune to roughness. I remember recently riding Giant Dipper at Belmont and I thought it was a fun and vintage ride, Then I go online and see that other enthusiasts complain about it being boring and awfully rough. Sometimes it’s just fun to form your own opinion on a ride then basing it off of others.
Agh I'm glad you mentioned Soarin' Eagle. The one at CW just felt extremely unsafe to me lol I'm a very small person, so I constantly felt like I was going to fall out. I've never felt genuinely unsafe on a rollercoaster until then
The worst coaster I've ever ridden was mean streak, I rode this coaster back in 2016 when I was 10 years old, the restraints gave me a headache as I was really short at the time and I was not at all sad when it was removed. Maybe if I was a little taller it would've been a better ride but then again I think my dad said he disliked it too. I know I used to hate Corkscrew (also at Cedar Point) for the same reason, nowadays I no longer think Corkscrew is a bad ride as it's only really a bad ride if you're short.
Mean Streak is the only coaster to give me back pains and I was still a teen then. Last time I was at Cedar Point it wasn’t called Mean Streak anymore, so I hope they’ve fixed some of its problems
@@chipmunkwarcry It's been replaced with a hybrid coaster called Steel Vengeance which is now my favorite ride at the park, if you ever stop by Cedar Point I highly recommend checking it out as it's so much better now.
@@lordmarquaad9221 That’s so good to here. I saw it was different last time, but I was still not willing to risk it at the time. I’ll be sure to check it out next time I’m there. Thanks!
Extremely unpopular opinion: The worst roller coaster I ever rode was Kings Dominion's Racer 75. I rode one side in 2013 and I still can't believe a coaster can run that rough. It was constant jackhammering, so much that the only real 'airtime' I got was being bounced up and down really hard. Going into the turnaround the train shook so violently that I was convinced my internal organs were ruptured. I got off the ride with a pounding headache, back ache, stomach ache, nausea, dizzyness, and extreme dehydration for some reason. I was then so sick that every slight movement on any ride triggered pain for the rest of the day. No other coaster has made me feel this awful (even Mind Eraser, that was a similar sensation but not as bad). A few years later, I braved the Racer again. It was significantly less rough, but was forceless as crap and had no airtime whatsoever. I better stop trying with this ride.
Goliath at Six Flags New England actually was the first roller coaster I ever rode, and scarily enough, the same day I went, a cable snapped on it. Thunderbolt was better though it's got its rough rumbles and bumps. I do want to go to Lake Compounce (Connecticut resident here too) but I'll avoid Wildcat, sad to hear what happened to it.
Honorable mentions: Viper at Six Flags, Magic Mountain, Viper at Six Flags, Magic Mountain, Viper at Six Flags, Magic Mountain, Viper at Six Flags, Magic Mountain, and, Viper at Six Flags, Magic Mountain.
It's weird, my dad says his favorite ride at Darien Lake is the Mind Eraser, and I definitely enjoyed riding it a couple weeks ago, but it absolutely needs new restraints and a retrack would be nice too
For the UK, colossus at Thorpe Park was the worse. It was rough when it was first built and now its older its even rougher than it was. The worse part though is the over the shoulder restraints and the last 5 in line twists. They have 4 in a row which means you constantly bang into the restraints, it's like a torture device! Which is ironic seeing as the Saw ride is next door!!
As someone from England, I feel honoured with how smooth our coasters are, especially our woodies. I only recently learnt this on my trip to Florida…. When I went to fun spot, I was excited for mine blower, hybrid with fun looking layout? Yes please. But then I rode it. Now, I heard it was a *bit* rattling, but NOTHING could prepare me for what happened, nearly a minute of pure agony through my entire body, with little stops due to the airtime rising me out of the seat, I came off of that ride with a pounding headache that put me out of commission for the rest of the day, several hours of pain and rest back at the villa, I have now vowed to NEVER ride that thing again
Vortex takes forever to load. The loading time is longer than the ride itself so at the end of the ride you stop right outside the station in the blazing sun for upwards of 10 minutes
Morey’s Piers really is doing a good job at improving their rides. In recent years, they’ve retracked and added new trains to all three of their big coasters
Can confirm, vortex was the ol’ game of “try to position my body to receive the least damage”. My girlfriend, who declined to ride Fury because it looked too scary, said she enjoyed vortex. So there’s that.
I've not been to nearly as many parks as you guys, but Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg was horrible. I rode it several times over the years, and felt like I had legit whiplash after riding it. Once, my then girlfriend got sick from it, and refused to ride any more that day; also another person was was throwing up after riding it with us.
Summer of 2023-WildCat is getting renovations a Lake Compounce. Edit: I find it funny that lake compounce has on of the best wooden coasters and on of the worst wooden coasters at the same time 😂
I actually rode Mind Eraser before It turned into Riddler's Revenge at Six Flags New England (My Hometown), and it wasn't that bad, I have ridden Riddler's Revenge, and it was as good as Mind Eraser. BTW, Love your videos, Keep it up
I used to ride it as Mind Eraser multiple times on the same day when I was a kid and didn’t know any better, lol. I was just excited about the short line and thought riding defensively was just something you had to do on really intense rides. Silly me!
By far the worst coaster for me was one at Carowinds (I forget the name, it was almost 10 years ago) where they laid you down on your back (or stomach, i forget). I very rarely feel sick or dizzy after a ride, but oh my god did I feel absolutely terrible after that. I also don't often close mt eyes for a ride but the only way i could handle that ride was to close my eyes because the jerks and turns combined with laying on your back was the worst experience on a ride for me
Having taken my cousins on the aptly called "smash me timbers" ride. They were SO scared to ride anything else after that, because they were afraid that if a tiny coaster could be that rough then the bigger things must be horrific. Almost put them off coasters entirely! That thing is truly an embarrassment.
Lake Compounce was my childhood theme park too. I moved to Florida six years ago, so I haven't been there since before Phobia was built so I never rode that. Wildcat was my first ever roller coaster so it's definitely one I look fondly back on. Having said that though, I definitely noticed it got rougher as I got older and sad to hear it's even worse now. I see Mind Eraser on here a few times. The one in New England wasn't good either. lol.
Worst one I’ve ridden is for sure blue streak (Cedar point). I remembered loving it, but then when I rode it again like a year ago it was just so much rougher than I had remembered it being. Never again.
That list is pretty accurate. I must say that Goliath at SFNE was quite an enjoyable experience for the first few years in my opinion, as the old trains were being used. Then, the park changed those for the newer trains as seen in your video and it was, as you suggested, insanely rough.
My most hated is Predator at Darien Lake, I got off my first ride a couple weeks ago and was like "and you're telling me this is AFTER getting new track???"
My dad rode on Vortex and I've seen him do all sorts of things. The fact he came off of vortex both nauseous and had a headache really spoke volumes to me as he's only gets sick on rides like the spinning cups at Disney. 🤣 I never been more concerned for a ride before that
Vortex sucks and it gave me the most god awful headache, but I swear to GOD Hurler is so much worse. I was limping when I got off it, the whole ride was so painful and unenjoyable. I should've listened to my friend's warning to not ride it💀
OMG THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING VORTEX! One of the absolute WORST coasters I've ever been on in my life and I'm annoyed that Carowinds hasn't gotten rid of it yet. And the comment about replacing it with a bathroom is hilarious because it's already next to a bathroom and that would STILL be a better use of the space.
Great Escape is my home park and as bad as Steamin Demon is, unless it’s getting replaced with something else, please don’t take it away. It’s all we have for inversions! (besides an equally bad boomerang) lol
11:58 Ah yes, 2005, the year when Lemon Demon's popular song "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" was released. Kinda a good year but also a bad year, looking at you, Six Flags AstroWorld and Six Flags New Orleans.
My worst is undoubtably Green Lantern @ Magic Mountain (just hated it from start to finish), but I think both Great American Scream Machine @ Six Flags Over Georgia and the Grand National @ Blackpool Pleasure Beach are up there for their sheer roughness. To be fair though, I've been in locations with a Zamperla Volare and just refused to put myself through it, so fair play to anybody that has :D
Somehow I don't even need to ride these coasters to understand how rough they must have been. Your descriptions alone were vivid enough to deter me from these coasters forever haha.
Ah yes, the scream machine. As a native Jersey resident, I had a soft spot for it. Who could forget that smell of gasoline as you went up the lift? But yes it did rough you up.
You NAILED the coffin with the commentary on Goliath! I completely agree, the first drop was actually fun, but after you fly past the station, you basically get beaten up
By far the worst experience I had was on the old Mean Streak wooden coaster at Cedar Point. The ride was so rough I actually thought I was going to die. When it ended I wanted to file assault and battery charges against the park.
Full on agree with SFAm Mind Eraser being a top pick. Sad it's now my home park. I still go back and forth if Mind Eraser or Roar is worse because Roar definitely caused me more injury, but Mind Eraser is particularly bad for an extremely bad/common model. What really sticks out to me is the oddly tall shoulder padding they put on the restraints for this SLC. I haven't seen those on any other SLC's or any other ride with over the shoulder restraints. It feels like its genuinely designed to ensure headbanging for all guests. I usually get my shoulders crushed due to my excessive height and can avoid the headbanging, but this is an exception and I get all the pain a roller coaster can dish out.
One of my worst ridden coasters was Tornado (now Gotham), it is probably worser than any of the coasters on the list 😂. You know you are in for some extraordinary headbanging when this is manufactured by Pinfari. There is no good things about this coaster other than how massive it looked for a travelling coaster.
Ah yes, the old "Bone Crusher" itself! Says a lot about it when the only known POV of it with the corkscrew outright caused the camera to violently glitch for several seconds.
The Mind Eraser at Darien Lake gave me the worst headache I have had from a roller coaster. It reminded me of the concussion I got once from a car accident. Not to mention the neck pain. The wood coaster there is uncomfortable too. This was the first year we didn’t get season passes due to the overall upkeep of the park and because last year more than half of the rides and more than half of the water park wasn’t open. They took down the ferris wheel too.
I just went to Canada's Wonderland a couple weeks ago! Tbh I really liked the Minebuster. It was Wilde Beast that I found to be unbearably painful! BTW Happy to see you made it to Darien Lake. That was my homepark so I grew up with the classic headbanging of the mind eraser. Lol
Absolute worst was Goliath at SFNE. To ride and to operate. But ironically some of my other friends who worked at the park with me said it was their favorite coaster. Dunno why
Mind Eraser has given me the most brutal rides of any coaster I’ve been on. Pain for weeks when I was younger. I rode it recently though on a cold day and it was the best SLC ride I’ve ever had. If it’s running slow and you sit towards the front it’s actually okay. You’re not missing much never riding it again though.
Thank you for reviewing Canadas wonderland. It’s my home park, and I never see it on popular UA-cam channels for roller coasters. And I do agree, flight deck isn’t as bad as it’s reputation makes it to be. I actually enjoyed flight deck, though I did come off with a mild headache.
Flight Deck was my first SLC and because I didn't know how rough these coasters were at the time, I stupidly wore my glasses on that ride...I'm lucky that they either didn't break or fall off my face completely. That being said, the ride was pretty fun and I did like the overall layout of the ride, but ya, the headbanging was pretty brutal.
The Great American Scream Machine was quite good during its first few years, but it definitely got rougher over time, and by the time they removed it, I wasn’t sorry to see it leave the park.
Darien Lake is my home park, and I've only went once a few years back. I used to live in NJ, and I will still do a 5 and a half hour drive from 4:30 am to Great Aventure rather than the hour to Darien. And I specifically remember looking at Mind Eraser and refusing to ride it, thinking how terrible it looked. And this was during a time when I would ride anything, but hadn't ridden on a coaster for maybe 8 years so I should have been pumped for everything. Glad I skipped it, because I've learned the hard way that recently in my older age I am WAY more susceptible to motion sickness than I was back in the day of non stop coaster riding.
I actually have been on Minebuster three times and the first time I believe I had a decent ride, the second time I had a good ride and the third time I had a bad ride so it is a very inconsistent coaster but if you are lucky enough to get a good ride on it like I did it is actually a pretty good wooden coaster
I rode Aftershock, the giant inverted boomerang coaster at Idaho's Silverwood Theme Park and enjoyed it. Wonder if you would like it better than Goliath
I rode aftershock too as my first coaster and I really enjoyed it alot it was so smooth and I didn't get any headbanging, but I did get a massive headache after, probably bc I was crying so much from enjoying it and just the g forces lol

You didn’t even mention how god awful mind eraser at darien lake LOOKS, they sandblasted it like five years ago and then never repainted it so there’s just big gray patches, it looks like the coaster is rotting
And they welded the two trains together to create one long train

I liked that ride when it opened at MM. I never had a bad ride on it.
It’s too bad it’s clone at Silverwood with the original trains means you have to go all the way to Silverwood in the middle of nowhere Idaho
I’ve ridden it a few times at Silverwood, it’s one of my favorite coasters 🫶🏻

I rode Condor in Walibi Holland in 2019 and it had the original restraints and it was so bad that I almost blacked out and got a concussion due to the extreme headbanging.
“rocks in a blender, during an earthquake” had me dying💀.
i’ve been watching your channel for years! i love how knowledgable you are & how much i’ve learned. each video is always entertaining. thank you!
That description reminded me of Wildcat at Lake Compounce. I'd call it Earthquake the coaster. 😅
And would literally get back in line for it. 😁
I’ll say, Mind Eraser truly erases your mind with all that headbanging. Could give any average theme park guest a total memory wipe
Is it the same design as the mind eraser at Elitch Gardens in Denver? If so, totally get it. Surprisingly, the wooden coaster at that park is really smooth!
The headbanging is too much for a metal head
The name itself already suggested the overall experience XD
My local amusement park is Six Flags America and when I rode Mind Eraser, I was just like, “Nope. Never again.”
My heart honestly filled with joy when I saw it being the worst in your worst coaster list.
Call me crazy, but I always loved that coaster.
I actually like minebuster
I guess you love uncomfortable things people that like mine buster probably love the feeling of the uncomfortable experience lol

Its not a bad roller coaster, it's a pretty intense layout...The only issue with it is that it's a standing coaster.
Love your profile pic!
@@francescov.3610 I have to agree, I rode it for the first time last week and was surprised that I kinda enjoyed it!
Me too and p.s carowinds for life
That ride wasn’t too bad, the worse part was probably standing on the break run in the hot sun for like 5 minutes, Carolina concussion (cyclone) was way worse
I remember that.
Vortex is by far the worst I have ever been on. I felt every bump on the tender area between my legs
you should come to Blackpool pleasure beach if you like rough rides carpetbagger 🤣🤣🤣
You just don’t know how to ride it 😂 iv rode it since 1992, when the Klingons were riding it. 😆 if you know you know.
I guess B&M have a few duds.
When I seen vortex gone I felt so happy for the uncomfortable seats to be gone but the ride was pretty fun aside from the crotch destroyer
Don't you dare bismerch Vortex. Did you even ride any standups?
The new train is what screwed up Goliath(SFNE)
@@dragonmyr lol thanks for the recommendation
As someone who has Carowinds as their home park, Vortex is literally hell. It’s free leg pain. It looks cool, sure. Maybe because I love red, but I didn’t ask for Leg Torture
Great American Scream Machine was definitely rough, just like all old Arrow loopers. However, it was a walk in the park compared to Viper, the old Togo coaster at the same park. Viper was so rough that it left you feeling like a professional boxer had beaten you up. The car would shake non-stop during the entire ride and those shoulder restraints were the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced.
Always good seeing a fellow Connecticut resident creating good quality content; continue the good work man :)
Unpopular doesnt mean one of a kind-me

Its funny how every SLC called mind eraser has horrible headbanging (especially the one at Elitch gardens)
It was one of my top five coasters. The back seat through the corkscrew was the best.
The mind eraser at darien lake is getting new trains and a "smoother ride" for the 2025 season. Lets hope its finally good...
Same here.....excellent ride now
Boomerang’s in general get too much hate, they are stupid forceful
Yikes getting really bad handbanging on vortex AND dodging puke, sounds like a ride from hell.
Worse than Batman clones.
The problem with those Dinn coasters is because the guy was hungry while he was building the coaster, because he never ate his DINNer.
Yeah, I'm one of those people, too. I've ridden Viper at SFMM and no complaints 🤷♂️
Agh I'm glad you mentioned Soarin' Eagle. The one at CW just felt extremely unsafe to me lol
I'm a very small person, so I constantly felt like I was going to fall out.

It's weird, my dad says his favorite ride at Darien Lake is the Mind Eraser, and I definitely enjoyed riding it a couple weeks ago, but it absolutely needs new restraints and a retrack would be nice too
These kind of videos are always good because we love dog piling on bad stuff and rightfully deserve so
For the UK, colossus at Thorpe Park was the worse.
I dunno have you ridden Grand National at Blackpool Pleasure Beach recently? That ride is rough as hell now it needs a serious makeover.
@@Komicklepto that will never get a makeover as its so old.
Same with the Big Dipper I bruised my knee on that ride
Vortex takes forever to load. The loading time is longer than the ride itself so at the end of the ride you stop right outside the station in the blazing sun for upwards of 10 minutes
it's still better than hurler😂
Morey’s Piers really is doing a good job at improving their rides. In recent years, they’ve retracked and added new trains to all three of their big coasters
If you’re about 6’3” or taller, riding the Great White is one of the most painful ride experiences. There is very limited leg room.
@@Montanamacthankfully I’m short at 4 “11” and so far I’ve had a blast on Great White
Can confirm, vortex was the ol’ game of “try to position my body to receive the least damage”. My girlfriend, who declined to ride Fury because it looked too scary, said she enjoyed vortex. So there’s that.
You know it’s a great day when Theme Park Crazy uploads
it can't get worse than Blue Tornado at Gardaland though, serious torture to my ears.
BTW, Love your videos, Keep it up
It was great when it first opened. Of course that was 25 years ago.
I also don't often close mt eyes for a ride but the only way i could handle that ride was to close my eyes because the jerks and turns combined with laying on your back was the worst experience on a ride for me
Nighthawk
Nighthawk is like rolling down a hill in a trashcan.
Having taken my cousins on the aptly called "smash me timbers" ride. They were SO scared to ride anything else after that, because they were afraid that if a tiny coaster could be that rough then the bigger things must be horrific. Almost put them off coasters entirely! That thing is truly an embarrassment.
Oof
Maybe next time take them on Hydrus at the same park
Got over my fear of vertical loops that way
Over the summer I went to Carowinds. It was a pretty fun ride, but I do agree with you. I’m only 10 and it was really hard on my head.
We get it.
@@elevatoralarmcoasterandarc1214 ?? Ok? I was just sharing my experience.
That list is pretty accurate. I must say that Goliath at SFNE was quite an enjoyable experience for the first few years in my opinion, as the old trains were being used. Then, the park changed those for the newer trains as seen in your video and it was, as you suggested, insanely rough.
I remember riding it when it was Deja Vu at SFMM and it was my favorite ride. The intensity was unmatched but it did break every hour unfortunately.
I should've listened to my friend's warning to not ride it💀
That tracks for hurler I hate wooden coasters because of hurler
If only the Mind Eraser lived up to its name so we could all forget the experience of riding it.
But if you forgot how bad it was, wouldn’t you be more willing to re-ride it? 😛
Lol
Maybe the best thing to do is what Morey's Piers did with Fly the Great Nor'Easter with new trains and all new track. Or maybe scrap it altogether.
Vortex got some opps
My least favorite coaster is steamin' demon, it runs BRUTAL and should just be scrapped
Great Escape is my home park and as bad as Steamin Demon is, unless it’s getting replaced with something else, please don’t take it away. It’s all we have for inversions! (besides an equally bad boomerang) lol
@@lichenlad2887 I know! I feel so bad for Great escape, I believe it's kind of forgotten in the six flags chain. The park deserves SO much better!!
As a Marylander and visits to six flags America more than i can count mind eraser is usually closed every time i go
Great video! My worst coaster is Tornado at M&D's ... SO ROUGH it's surprising you don't see the track misaligned, also the shaping is weird
M&D's?
@@coastaku1954 the park's name is M&D's iirc
@@svis6888 But where though?

Somehow I don't even need to ride these coasters to understand how rough they must have been. Your descriptions alone were vivid enough to deter me from these coasters forever haha.
Same. 😂
Ah yes, the scream machine. As a native Jersey resident, I had a soft spot for it. Who could forget that smell of gasoline as you went up the lift? But yes it did rough you up.
Oh yes plus hearing the chain lift going up as you pulled into the parking lot. Def miss that sound.
El Toro is pretty rough at times but still a best but GASM got tossed to the dust…
@@alexv3375 exactly haha. I am just glad that i rode it after the corkscrew was removed. I cannot imagine how bad this thing was with the corkscrew.🤕🤕
Have you rode thunder hawk it feels like they gave it a full retrack it is glossy smooth and the transitions are perfect
I actually got a ride on Deja Vu back in September 2010, 1 year before it's relocation. So I got to experience it while it was still good.
Fun fact: I was the friend who came up with the “Spinebuster” line :P
But yeah that one was pretty rough and shaky
I just went to Canada's Wonderland a couple weeks ago! Tbh I really liked the Minebuster. It was Wilde Beast that I found to be unbearably painful!
BTW Happy to see you made it to Darien Lake. That was my homepark so I grew up with the classic headbanging of the mind eraser. Lol
Absolute worst was Goliath at SFNE. To ride and to operate. But ironically some of my other friends who worked at the park with me said it was their favorite coaster. Dunno why
It was smooth, intense and very fun when it was in CA. SFMM should’ve kept it.
I went on the #10 one in a park called “Veiner-Prader” in Austria. It was not bad, but scared me because of the park it was in.
Good move. Save your stomach and back for an extra go on Superman!
It breaks my heart, Deja Vu was a fantastic ride and they just destroyed it...
SFMM should’ve kept it. Would still be smoother in 2022 than B&M Scream!
growing up with sea serpent as one of the only roller coasters you know of makes every other roller coaster after that smooth and amazing
I actually have been on Minebuster three times and the first time I believe I had a decent ride, the second time I had a good ride and the third time I had a bad ride so it is a very inconsistent coaster but if you are lucky enough to get a good ride on it like I did it is actually a pretty good wooden coaster
It's now more than 40 years old. I'm sure it's been upgraded a few times, but it's probably time for a complete refurbishment.
@@watson956 yeah an rmc remake wouldn’t hurt😂 but I’d rather them remake Wilde beast because it hurts more in my opinion
Vortex, Hurler and Carolina Cyclone are 3 coasters that need to be replaced or updated.
Absolutely
I rode Aftershock, the giant inverted boomerang coaster at Idaho's Silverwood Theme Park and enjoyed it. Wonder if you would like it better than Goliath
I rode aftershock too as my first coaster and I really enjoyed it alot it was so smooth and I didn't get any headbanging, but I did get a massive headache after, probably bc I was crying so much from enjoying it and just the g forces lol
Aftershock is fun as hell!! I always enjoy riding that one.. and their two wood coasters
Aftershock is one of the best coasters I have ever been on. it's wild that goliath is on this list.
I love Canada’s Wonderland but the Mighty Canadian Minebuster is the most painful ride I’ve ever been on
