For those who haven’t played risk of rain 2 you’d have to unlock the character he played and most of the items he used before you can actually get the Diablo strike
Remember this though: Without pain, and without madness, you’ll never gain anything, now get fucking ready dumbass, and waste about 30-100 hours in a span of 1 week But in seriousness, have a fun time playing it, suggestion, if you want a late game character, play either engineer, the mech or well… captain
Funnily enough, I got the achievement on my first captain run, because I found it hilarious you could kill bosses with the drop pods, so I figured I'd do it with all of them
On command I used a about 2-4 stacks of shaped glass and at least 10 AP rounds with an ocular HUD with enough gestures of the drowned to have full crit (obv you need to get the newt altar often to consistently get gestures) Highly recommend getting a single gas can on captain, since its godsend for crowd control on him with wisps. Using HUD saves you having to waste 10 common items on crit when it could be used for energy drinks and AP rounds instead, and you don't need shaped glass until you get to the moon grab as many shaped glass from the pods and if you built movement speed and feathers and quails right you can just stay in the air nearly forever and mow mithrix down every phase in less than 10 seconds so you can skip that stupid phase 2 mithrix attack. When he's weakened, he uses your shaped glass (meaning he also takes the 1/2 hp penalty making it easier to kill him) and if you hide at the right angle behind the ramp he cant hit you and you can still hit him. Also dio's best friend is a good legendary item since if you screw up/ run out of beacons you can just die then revive with full beacons back and try again. tldr: use shaped glass and AP rounds with 100% crit ocular HUD with ~8 gestures of drowned to make mithrix fight quicker, dios for if you screw up, then you can whittle him down like normal in phase 3.
3:48 this is completely wrong, as long as you're looting efficiently to get every chest your items and levels will outscale the monsters regardless of what difficulty you're playing on (this does not mean go slow, you should be spending 5-9 minutes (depends on size of stage) fully looting a stage for the best results)
Fun Fact: Getting hit by your own diablo strike can have it’s uses. If you go to the base of the tree on the moon and let it hit you, the knock back can send you all the way to the top. Skipping the stage and letting you have another item rather than a vase or chrysalis
My favourite Strat is just getting a bunch of movement speed and wax quail to bounce myself off the ship bubble. You then get shot into the sky and can get onto the arena with a few additional hops
Alternatively, you can just stack a whole bunch of shaped glass, time that final stage just right, and take him out in one hit! Get enough teddy bears and attack speed to boost your projectile-killer drone and you'll be fiiiiiiiine!
Great guide, but four things to mention are one, do not worry about time. If you are picking up items, especially if you are playing command where you have pretty much a guarantee to get a god build every time, your power will scale much faster than the difficulty does. Two, captain's beacon procs brilliant behemoth and the explosion from it can kill mythrix. If this happens you will not get the achievement. Some reds you can pick up instead are laser scope (essentially free +50% damage if you have 100 percent crit), headstompers (broken damage, best utilized with movement items that make trimping easy and a stun beacon equipped as your other beacon), interstellar desk plant (monster tooth on crack, insane healing even with one stack), symbiotic scorpion (better shattering justice), rejuv rack (in combination with corpsebloom gives you 8x healing due to weird item interaction), soulbound catalyst (extra mobility if you have your eccentric vase equipped), and dio's best friend (nice to have in case after all of this you somehow mess up) Third, titanic knurl is a shit item and a complete nothing burger. Since shatterspleen and both perforators (the superior boss items) ruins the build, some other boss items you could get instead are little disciple, which deals damage while sprinting and scales with movement speed. Extremely powerful, just be careful about using it during the last stage of the mythrix fight (although it should not be a problem if you are standing almost stationary on top of the pillars). And if you want healing, both genesis loop and mired urn wipe the floor with titanic knurl in terms of healing, again just be careful with these during the mythrix fight and Fourth, remember to pick up oddly-shaped opals for one-shot protection (tougher times is great too, especially if you get safer spaces, but otherwise prioritize opals and repulsion armor plates) Sorry for the long read, windette if for some reason you are reading this your guide was great and don't take this as criticism, it is just extra information that may help someone, whether these be things you overlooked or if your information was correct at the time but is now out of date. To everyone else, good luck with your achievement.
Artifact of glass, as many glass shards as you can buy, some crowbars and ampr, vase for tele cheese after stage 5, and wait till final boss phase to use beacons. Plus if you have no beacons and die then revived by a DIO, you get ur beacons back.
I am gonna be honest here, I did this achievement by accident. When I found out that beacons do dmg, I just thought "lets kill mithrix with the beacon" and just like that I had unlocked something which I had no idea even existed, XD
This guide is incredible, but the time advice (unless you're solely referring to this achievement and not the whole game) is not as helpful is you are skilled enough, know the map layouts, or have any movement. For example, for characters like captain, who can get items quickly, or commando and engineer, who can use items the most effectively, then you can fully loot the stage and outscale the game with your items.
I personally nearly fully loot stages with all characters, including on Monsoon runs, and I'm not skilled at all (and can still beat Mythrix if I build myself right) so idk XD
Meanwhile you can disregard the entire time per stage factor by using artifact of sacrifice. Since enemies spawn endlessly until the teleport is finished, there will also be no cap on how many items you'll get. I find it weird to just use arti of command for the Diablo unlock, like in the videi. Why not go all out on artifacts? I threw in sacrifice, swarms and kin. I almost screwed myself when I killed the first Mithrix, but got it on the second Mithrix from the arti of swarm. Same story for Bandit special alt. It's not that hard when it only takes patience, since chip damage is still better than using glass and missing your chance because you killed Mithrix in one shot.
@@baumpaladin issue with Sacrifice (as of SotV) is that you don't get any corrupted items with sacrifice. When I unlocked Diablo I had swarms and command
@@cassou124 what's the problem with that though? People didn't have void items prior to SotV, and still aren't necessary in any way or form after the DLC for the unlocks. They are just an additional way to play the game, and being honest, none of these items make for an crazy build outside of blastshower + safer spaces or void bands. The void items are cool new content, but I still prefer sacrifice over it. Well actually, I 100% the game by now, got all the old achievements before the DLC. So I just enjoy ROR2 with QoL mods now, like void items with sacrifice.
tbh best way to get people to not spend hours on a stage, and the way i mainly play as well, is with sacrifice too. no need to scavenge chests, item rng is fine. if you get that red, clover is now useful as well. ez wins
Alternate strategy: 1. make sure you have artifacts of chaos and swarms on 2. Do whatever you want prior to mythrix 3. Grab Popcorn 4. Mythrix more than likely is at low enough HP that you can slap him with your supply drops (it doesn't matter which) and is probably standing still so have fun
legit did this as an afterthought when I fought Mythrix on monsoon. I was getting him low in the last phase and I thought "oh yeah there's an achievement by killing him with a supply beacon" so i hit him with it... that was it, he died. Easiest achievement of my life
I'm fairly new to the game. Only have 50 hours so far and played for 2 weeks-ish. I was just casually playing on Monsoon and saw the challenge. I was like "oh cool, I'll try to do that!" And I did it did on my first try with my buddy Andrew. Made me feel real good. Even better now knowing that people struggle with it. I'm part of the 3% to have the achievement, and makes me proud
For new players that come across the video later: as said in other comments, the 5 minute rule is a erroneous thing a portion of the community believed a while ago, it was mostly geared toward new players who got distracted and just ran around doing nothing. In reality so long as you are consantly aquiring new items and getting stronger as the time ticks by then the amount of time you spend per stage doesn't matter. Just be productive, always look for things to buy, always check 3d printers for good items by pinging them, always recycle the items that are either bad or not synergistic with your build, etc. Do that and you'll do fine.
Quick tip: being revived by a Dio will actually refill your beacons meaning if you SOMEHOW manage to miss BOTH beacons, you can die on purpose to get another chance.
I did this first try my first run after the ability released, except I stood on a ramp when I fought stage 4 Mithrix instead of hiding on top of a pillar and dealing with the "stiff neck" problem this game likes to throw your way when dealing with ground based enemies.
Welp, that's a load of misinformation. Thank's for making noobs somehow even worse at the game than they were. ITEMS are far more important than time, especially when you can choose any of them that you want, and it's not even a close comparison.
3:41 Do NOT attempt to speedrun through the game, it’s a bad idea because the difficulty will scale faster than your items (15% increase each stage), but if you spend your time you can gain strength faster than the monsters See Disputed Origin’s video’s strategy section for a more in-depth explanation ua-cam.com/video/aJWfwbG93Z8/v-deo.html
Mithrix took all my repulsion armor plates and became invincible. I couldn't run very well from getting chronobaubled, his ukulele zapped me when he attacked my healing drones, and his defensive microbots shot down my attempts to strike him with orbital probes. Also, for some reason, his health kept increasing. He was over 26,000 before I decided to Leroy Jenkins
I didn't realize people struggled on this so much. I got it my first run and I definitely had a bunch of dot. I knew it was lucky, but I didn't realize how lucky I guess haha
3:59 this is actually false advice, the logic here is if you full clear a stage, you get stronger faster than the enemies do, and also going to the next stage bumps up the difficulty a good chunk, sure, getting every item will still cause this just the same, youll be far stronger than rushing the teleporter. course you should still go as fast as you can, but full loot > time. (this is advice i learned from people with 1000s of hours in the game)
@@liquidnitrogen1770 unknown origin i belive, just look through his videos its in there (or was it race…?) edit: its race “the 20 minute rule” i believe
Not only is it not important, it is a complete detriment to your game. I have beaten eclipse 8 on almost every character, and when I was starting my eclipse 8 climb, I was struggling a lot in later stages, and I ended up ditching the Strat, and it became so much easier, anyone who says 5 minutes a stage is better than full looting is a clown, unless they recommend it just for people who just started the game
this is the first video of yours I watched and damn, kinda hot, but also I appreciate the entertaining tutorial. I might watch more, since I kept seeing your videos pop up in my recommendeds.
@@jackmalcolm Then I'll amend my statement to "You talk a lot of shit for someone who just bought the five minute rule right away because Woolie said it once"
If it helps anyone then the coward’s way out of the 2nd phase goes like this: switch between the three pillars and the small one next to it (you should have enough feathers to do this safely) as you pass by each one you can damage him a little and you should be able to put damage his healing.
This… was not as hard as I was told by everyone… Like all you really need to get is Opal, Attack speed, and Crit/Watch. You can also get like 3-4 backup mags if you have a chronic fear of left clicking lightly instead of holding. This is so you can chip him down to 200-290 hp. Congrats, you have an achievement that is somehow less gratuitous then Merc’s perfect Prismatic Trial. Edit: also imagine using command and not just taking what you get B)
I legit got it on my second try, only because on my first I accidentally perfectly timed my orbital strikes to kill Mithrix right at that small lapse of invisibility at the beginning of his 4th phase
Time is NOT more important than items and it’s thr common misconception about risk of rain. The enemies scale with what stage you are on more than the time it takes per stage, and the more items you get, the faster you stay ahead of the curve. With scrappers and printers it’s more beneficial to get the majority of items
I'm late, but honestly, for survivability i'd recommend first getting a Wax Quail as your first "jump" green, the inertia you get from it saves me on so many runs
In order to cap crit you only need one of each green as they both give 5%. It’s probably just a small oversight on your part, but seeing as both the visuals and your script implies you need 3 greens I thought I’d mention it.
The only thing I would add is that you can get some shaped glass on the right side below the mythrix fight using the lunar pods with artifact of command. I think I got 3 of these and was able to one shot his final faze with the beacons.
I think the hardest part about this one for me was by the time I got to Mythrix i was on autopilot and wasn't thinking about dropping the thing on him lmao
I'd argue that the 5-6 minute marker is more specifically geared towards normal monsoon *maybe* for drizzle and rainstorm, it's much closer to 8-9, and for monsoon with command, it's absolutely at least 7 the reason you shouldn't pick a stage dry is because sometimes items aren't very useful, but when you can pick your items, this isn't an issue (unless you somehow click on an item that you didn't want).
As an achievement hunter, I'd love to see more of this type of video for other trophies that are categorised as "impossible" when in reality, they're just tedious.

Now i need to try this@@Darkwolf69420
Alternatively, you can just stack a whole bunch of shaped glass, time that final stage just right, and take him out in one hit! Get enough teddy bears and attack speed to boost your projectile-killer drone and you'll be fiiiiiiiine!
You can’t insult me, you’re playing on rainstorm
0:02 Dear god.. you have friends?
That's crazy
Great guide, but four things to mention are one, do not worry about time. If you are picking up items, especially if you are playing command where you have pretty much a guarantee to get a god build every time, your power will scale much faster than the difficulty does.
Two, captain's beacon procs brilliant behemoth and the explosion from it can kill mythrix. If this happens you will not get the achievement. Some reds you can pick up instead are laser scope (essentially free +50% damage if you have 100 percent crit), headstompers (broken damage, best utilized with movement items that make trimping easy and a stun beacon equipped as your other beacon), interstellar desk plant (monster tooth on crack, insane healing even with one stack), symbiotic scorpion (better shattering justice), rejuv rack (in combination with corpsebloom gives you 8x healing due to weird item interaction), soulbound catalyst (extra mobility if you have your eccentric vase equipped), and dio's best friend (nice to have in case after all of this you somehow mess up)
Third, titanic knurl is a shit item and a complete nothing burger. And if you want healing, both genesis loop and mired urn wipe the floor with titanic knurl in terms of healing, again just be careful with these during the mythrix fight and
Fourth, remember to pick up oddly-shaped opals for one-shot protection (tougher times is great too, especially if you get safer spaces, but otherwise prioritize opals and repulsion armor plates)
Sorry for the long read, windette if for some reason you are reading this your guide was great and don't take this as criticism, it is just extra information that may help someone, whether these be things you overlooked or if your information was correct at the time but is now out of date. To everyone else, good luck with your achievement.
Items > time
Always
Artifact of glass, as many glass shards as you can buy, some crowbars and ampr, vase for tele cheese after stage 5, and wait till final boss phase to use beacons. Plus if you have no beacons and die then revived by a DIO, you get ur beacons back.
This is the most aggressive Risk of Rain 2 guide I’ve ever watched and I’m loving it
I am gonna be honest here, I did this achievement by accident. When I found out that beacons do dmg, I just thought "lets kill mithrix with the beacon" and just like that I had unlocked something which I had no idea even existed, XD
5mins per stage nuh uh
"time is far more important than items"
so that was a fucking lie
@@baumpaladin i just find not having void items sadge, they're funky
Came back to this two years later and yes it still works my smooth brain took longer but it works 100%
tbh best way to get people to not spend hours on a stage, and the way i mainly play as well, is with sacrifice too. no need to scavenge chests, item rng is fine. if you get that red, clover is now useful as well.
ez wins
clover has no effect on item drops, also it's always been incredibly useful
Mercenary: Etherial need I say more
i just stacked crowbars and bought lots of shaped glass in the final stage, so when he absorbs your items you one shot him with your beacon
bro said the L in guillotine and called us stupid in the same breath
I was trying to do this one, and I had too much crit that I straight up murdered him with orbital strikes at almost half health. i was no too happy
How can you have too much crit? You can only have 100%
You know crit does nothing after 100% even if you have something that reduces luck, 100% is still 100%. And that's only double damage
Alternate strategy:
1. make sure you have artifacts of chaos and swarms on
2. Do whatever you want prior to mythrix
3. Grab Popcorn
4. Mythrix more than likely is at low enough HP that you can slap him with your supply drops (it doesn't matter which) and is probably standing still so have fun
I actually did this achievement on accident and was laughing so hard through the entire thing
this both helped me with the acheivo, and taught me about my new favorite reason to do command runs! (guaranteed crit plus shatterspleen = yum)
hardest achievement? fight me windette
legit did this as an afterthought when I fought Mythrix on monsoon. I was getting him low in the last phase and I thought "oh yeah there's an achievement by killing him with a supply beacon" so i hit him with it... that was it, he died. Easiest achievement of my life
the video is about risk of rain but i feel like im watching hollow knight idiots guide all over again
I followed you guide while using Diablo strike, great guide.
That moment when you completed this achievement by accident on first ever captain run
EVERY GAME THAT I HAVE PLAYED
WINDETTE HAS A VIDEO ON IT
AND WHEN I BUY MORE
I DISCOVER MORE WINDETTE VIDEOS
the cycle never ends.
What i did was just do a lot of shattered glass. Mithrix loses health with more glass if you have enough you can one shot him
"Some armor piercing rounds"
Me with 84 armor piercing rounds: "Wait.....SOME!?"
I refuse to accept that 78 crowbars can not be good no matter how hard you try convince me it’s a “waste of white items” I want my 5,850% damage.
With insults its getting easier to understood them normal explains
Welp, that's a load of misinformation. Thank's for making noobs somehow even worse at the game than they were. ITEMS are far more important than time, especially when you can choose any of them that you want, and it's not even a close comparison.
I literally got this achievement on my first cap playthrough without command.
3:41 Do NOT attempt to speedrun through the game, it’s a bad idea because the difficulty will scale faster than your items (15% increase each stage), but if you spend your time you can gain strength faster than the monsters
See Disputed Origin’s video’s strategy section for a more in-depth explanation ua-cam.com/video/aJWfwbG93Z8/v-deo.html
I figured out why his health kept increasing. He took my infusions and 4 titanic knurls.
I just stacked crowbar and 1 tapped him at the end.
I didn't realize people struggled on this so much. I got it my first run and I definitely had a bunch of dot. I knew it was lucky, but I didn't realize how lucky I guess haha
Oh my god, the fact that he is insulting me while playing so fucking poorly makes me irrationally mad. like dude its not even monsoon.
i love his remarkable phrase "here is where things get interesting"
been hearin it for a year now
3:59 this is actually false advice, the logic here is if you full clear a stage, you get stronger faster than the enemies do, and also going to the next stage bumps up the difficulty a good chunk, sure, getting every item will still cause this just the same, youll be far stronger than rushing the teleporter. course you should still go as fast as you can, but full loot > time. (this is advice i learned from people with 1000s of hours in the game)
From dio ye?
Just link the video here

The 5 min rule really isn’t that important
On easy mode
Not only is it not important, it is a complete detriment to your game. I have beaten eclipse 8 on almost every character, and when I was starting my eclipse 8 climb, I was struggling a lot in later stages, and I ended up ditching the Strat, and it became so much easier, anyone who says 5 minutes a stage is better than full looting is a clown, unless they recommend it just for people who just started the game
this is the first video of yours I watched and damn, kinda hot, but also I appreciate the entertaining tutorial. I might watch more, since I kept seeing your videos pop up in my recommendeds.
I've never even heard of this game before, but I'll gladly let Windette insult me. 😌🙏
love listening to this video and getting 3 reds in one area 💀 (from 1 normal chest a large one and a shrine)
You talk a lot of shit for someone who still believes in the five minute rule because Woolie said it once
That 5-6 minutes per stage isn’t far off what the general community thought when this was uploaded.
@@jackmalcolm Then I'll amend my statement to
"You talk a lot of shit for someone who just bought the five minute rule right away because Woolie said it once"
If it helps anyone then the coward’s way out of the 2nd phase goes like this: switch between the three pillars and the small one next to it (you should have enough feathers to do this safely) as you pass by each one you can damage him a little and you should be able to put damage his healing.
Didn’t you already upload this a while back
ya, details in the description ^ ^
yeah hmmmm
I litterally just watched the old one yesterday, I thought something was weird when I remembered a "new video" posted 45 mins ago
- A guy sits there explaining something in the most rude way possible

LUL
Not sure why this got recommended 3 years later but goddamn this was hilarious. Bravo.
Edit: also imagine using command and not just taking what you get B)
i love the way this is done i feel like i'm being lectured by a drill sergeant
69th like!
I legit got it on my second try, only because on my first I accidentally perfectly timed my orbital strikes to kill Mithrix right at that small lapse of invisibility at the beginning of his 4th phase
Sees video in recommendations: so it begins
This is an awesome video, I was able to finish this challenge first try thanks to you!
This works, first try! Thank you!
Also you were completely right about making a tank / survivability build.
He callin' us dumbasses when he says "gill 'o tines" and not "guillotines"
"Recently I decided to start playing risk of r-"
The worst best mistake a human can make
10/10 insults, its very cathartic both for the insulter and the insultee.
2 years later we know that the 5 min rule is complete bullshit
2:06 low speed, this can be improved, speed is war
Time is NOT more important than items and it’s thr common misconception about risk of rain. The enemies scale with what stage you are on more than the time it takes per stage, and the more items you get, the faster you stay ahead of the curve. With scrappers and printers it’s more beneficial to get the majority of items
I'm late, but honestly, for survivability i'd recommend first getting a Wax Quail as your first "jump" green, the inertia you get from it saves me on so many runs
it is very viable to spend extra time on stages to get every item
In order to cap crit you only need one of each green as they both give 5%. It’s probably just a small oversight on your part, but seeing as both the visuals and your script implies you need 3 greens I thought I’d mention it.
there's never enough crit healing nor attack speed
@@Kasumi_Tashi That is true, but that's not what my comment is about lol
The only thing I would add is that you can get some shaped glass on the right side below the mythrix fight using the lunar pods with artifact of command. I think I got 3 of these and was able to one shot his final faze with the beacons.
I didn't know people were annoyed by this achievement, only took me a couple tries.
it only took me one try but that doesn't stop me from saying it's a badly designed achievement
I think the hardest part about this one for me was by the time I got to Mythrix i was on autopilot and wasn't thinking about dropping the thing on him lmao
You only need one predatory and scythe and 9 goggles to hit 100 crit
I'd argue that the 5-6 minute marker is more specifically geared towards normal monsoon *maybe*
for drizzle and rainstorm, it's much closer to 8-9, and for monsoon with command, it's absolutely at least 7
the reason you shouldn't pick a stage dry is because sometimes items aren't very useful, but when you can pick your items, this isn't an issue (unless you somehow click on an item that you didn't want).
I’d argue that with scrappers and printers being a thing you should absolutely pick almost every item. 1 item per min
First time I got to mithrix with captain I first tried this I didn’t realise it was such a struggle
