i was a bodyman 45 years. lots of stuff on there pieces of quarters with tail light pockets front end, rearend, bunches of stuff hood springs, hinges. don`t give it away. haha. stay with it. i love the channel and what your doing.

Eastwood has a spray on chrome paint that trim like that you could fill the pits with bonds then use the spray on chrome and it would look like new

Hey Don , It's Greg again . I was looking around on youtube and found a youtube video Paul Nichols posted Dec 7 2015 . His Nomad shows up a few times in it . The filming took place at K D Dragways . Had not seen that one yet ... sure is a big rise at the far end of the track . I can just imagine how fast a kid could go on a bicycle from the high end of the track back towards the starting line if no racing was happening . Flashback of when our 25 year old was in his pedal car and I had a rope on it . When racing was done we would pre stage , stage , and then I'd pull him down the track part way . Didn't get a time slip for those partial passes .
Hey Greg! Yeah man I know Paul Nichols he doesn't live to far away from me! His nomad was found in a field and he rebuilt it! He drove the car from Columbus Ohio to Oklahoma for drag week. He raced it all week amd slept in the back of the car then drove it back to Columbus! Im sure your kid had some fun getting pulled down the racetrack, heck id enjoy that! Have a good one Buddy 👍

Thanks Buddy! That car was way to ruff to build. The entire roof skin just rusted completely off it! I think that car had been setting since the early 60s. I have alot of other project's that take up my time. That one was to far gone! Have a good one✌️

I started with 2 head of cattle, now I’m in my 80s and I have 800 Holsteins lots of work yes but satisfaction is a wonderful thing ,also money made
Ur car is Lots of work definitely but also definitely worth saving ….it’s a good project for somebody like ur self who is not scared of work ,it will get done with many hours put in it is worth saving

Cracked Nomad side glass is better than no glass at keeping the weather out. Throw the sedans front clip and lift gate on the 1st Nomad and you have a working silhouette. Draw and quarter the corpse of the 2nd Nomad and stash it away somewhere safe till the saveable one is done

I’ve always wanted a 55 Nomad but hard to find where I live , and don’t have the funds to buy and restore one . Don’t give up on it . It will be well worth it in the end ….even if you make it a rat rod …

OMG DON? I'm completely saturated in a lake of tears my friend, I've never seen any nomad that bad, it's like someone completely saturated the poor thing in saltwater! Boy that will be a hell challenge. Parts car totally agree.Man good luck, they'll need it.🙄

I tell you what there have been so many cars Don has sold over the years that had those cool factory little trinkets as he says that are just what you really wanna see when you buy a clasic car. He searches hi and low for perfect doors or stuff like that ground strap. If you bought a car that Don was putting together and he decided to sell boy the attention to detail is second to none. No corners cut. Way to save what you can Bro!! It's sad to see them that bad but save what you can as always

Wow! Lots of parts tho. Wonder if it got sunk in the ocean or something? My dad did that with some friends back in the 50’s in Daytona Florida on spring break. Can’t remember the car, but the car was never the same and rusted completely away in the next few years…
Hey Lance! Im not sure if it was ever in a lake! The spot it was setting at for the last 50 years was under a tree on the left side. I don't think it ever got and sun to help dry it out! Catch you next time 👍
My dads story was something like this; his brother and other college friends were heading toward Daytona Beach in about 1953 or 54. Dad was still in high school. He snuck out of the house with his roller skate case full of his clothes and etc. They took the friends car which was a nice car. On the way, they set the car on fire as they were throwing fire crackers out the window on a bridge trying to scare some fishermen… a firecracker bounced back into the car and under the seat and it caught fire. They put out the fire and continued. When they got to Daytona Beach, at the time, people drove up and down the beach. So they did the same thing. But got stuck in the sand and the tide came in and swamped the car. They eventually got it out and drove back to Michigan. Didn’t wash the car, didn’t do a thing with it but drive it home. Very quickly the car started rusting and was a horrible rust bucket probably a year or so after. But anyway, dads now passed away but I always got a kick out of that story. Teenage boys and cars… I can totally see a similar story in the Nomads life but I guess we will never know… thanks for the interesting videos!

That one has what looks to be lot's of good glass in it and there looks to be some good trim too so you got something there. Them nomads are rare so any parts that you can get and save is going to be worth it. The glass is Nomad only so it's a sore in my opinion.

1955. I see lotta glass windows. Los and lots trim. The Speedo and steering wheel. The dash looks in good shape. More important is the shape of the panels. The chassis is an excellent template.

Save everything you can. Is there any section of chassis that can be saved? Maybe to repair the other chassis. Or is that one too far gone also ?

I've come across a few cars that have been submerged in water for years, and this one definitely has been at some point. It didnt rust that way from weather. Someone dumped that in a lake perhaps stolen, probably when it was fairly new. Sad as hell.

Don, you were so right that this one is worse than "the other one". But I typically would doubt anyone will be able to save "the other one" until I saw what Dan's doing to his. He basically had a good roof & one door. He'll certainly be able to use some of your trim pieces, and maybe some glass. The border opens up on April 1rst (April Fools Day 🙃) so he could make a trip down when the weather improves to one of those Border Mailbox places to save on freight...

I have brought some beauties home myself but you take the trophy for that one. I can see the trail of debris flying off of it going down the road. But you know there are still a pile of good mouldings and glass for parts. You just don't ever throw that stuff away.
