    That really was a genius idea to record the match yourself to prevent copyright issues. Other than that, I can’t believe this kid has trained less than a year. That just shows you what great mentorship and consistency can do!

      I think he's been training for about two years? Regardless; very, very impressive! But can we be surprised? He trains with Jones, Ryan and Rod on a daily basis. Again a very impressive win!

      J rod has been training for 2 years, it was his brother Nicky, the one narrating, that won trials after one year of training.

      I swore I heard Craig Jones say post trials interview that he had only been training for 8 months. Maybe he meant training with them, and then with another academy before. Two years tho, that’s amazing. I’ve trained longer than him and I’m not that good, not even close.

Hope you guys can get a good setup and commentary like Andrew Wiltse has been doing on his channel (much improv d as well). Either way really like seeing you guys succeed and the technique is 🔥🔥🔥. ❤️❤️ The channel!

    J-rod had fought 60 seconds in one match.
    It is what is is but we need that back.

      Winning a tournament comes down to the overall performance across all of your matches, getting the submission quickly in early matches can save resources for battles later down the road. Speaking from my experience, the breaks between matches in this ADCC trial were massive and I had well over an hour in between every match on day one to recover.

    • @psytron939
      @psytron939 Рік тому

      Yep some people just get tougher matches or they cant get that sub early. It is what it is. Brackets are mostly random. At the end of the day, only in a sub only match you could tell who the better grappler is really.

      @@chokeeartist I never said Danaher made it up, I was just meaning that the original Japanese judo terms are known to be part of Danaher's terminology, which he has recently popularised in the BJJ scene since he gained a majoe following in the past 10 years.
      I was pointing out that it was interesting to see Nicky still use those terms instead of reverting to more basic and universal terms like "triangle" despite no longer training under Danaher.
      Maybe Nicky agrees with this terminology more, or maybe his habits are just hard to break after being with Danaher for so long.
