Nancy is the sister playing the guitar. She plays so good and was an inspiration to many young female guitar players in the 70's & 80's, me being one of them. I was and still am a huge Heart fanatic. Magic Man is another really good song to check out.

Ann's voice was and is GOLDEN. Powerful, smooth, clear...perfection. Nancy was a powerhouse musician in her own right. What a duo. Thank for the reaction BP!
Dog and Butterfly kills me. Though I know the song is not about a dog and a butterfly, I had a white female basset hound that loved everything and everybody. Sweetest dog I probably have ever had and always happy. She would follow butterflies and wag her tail. She passed on about a year ago and it broke me for several months. Now when ever I hear that song I tear up. I have never had that happen before and I have had many dogs and cats in my day. This one just etched herself in my heart deeper then the others.
I'm a 55 year old black Bahamian woman. I was totally into Heart with their 80s hits: "Never" and "What About Love". But I was introduced to them at around age 5 by my older sister in the 70s. Love their 70s song, "Magic Man" (the long version). Love them in the Bahamas still. Pray for Ann who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Heart done a tribute to Led Zeppelin with their song “stairway to heaven” They got a standing ovation from all of the led zeppelin band members still alive. Absolutely epic
Ann and Nancy's Stairway dedication to Led Zepp is epic, have to listen to that one. Kennedy Arts honor. Both of them have great voices and Nancy backs up Ann very well🙂One of the best voices out there!

For a whole different vibe and see how talent lives on, check out Heart live in Olympia. (I wanna say 2016). Nancy leads on "These Dreams". Ann's back-up is perfect.
Ann Wilson had the perfect female Rock voice. She moved effortlessly between her head and chest. No one sounds quite right when they try to do that "CRAZY". The way she slides down and belts at the same time... I love her so much. I wanted to be her.
Ann (dark hair) and Nancy (blonde hair) both sing songs, write music and play different instruments. Ann is the primary singer and plays flute & guitar. Nancy sings lead on several songs, but mostly secondary vocals, guitars, mandolin, piano and autoharp.
She sang Led Zeppelin tunes effortlessly. Not many people can sing Robert Plant, but damn she can. Watch them at the Kennedy Center Honors doing Stairway to Heaven.
This is my all-time favorite song from Heart. I got to see Heart 12 years ago so awesome! I love everything about this song the voice (Ann Wilson) and the guitar riffs and drums!!! Pure Awesomeness!!! ❤
Had tickets for their Boise show. They had to cancel due to Ann Wilson being recently diagnosed with cancer and doing chemotherapy now. Prayers out to her for a swift recovery. Such a great voice. Their Led Zeppelin tribute of stairway to heaven at the Kennedy Center is amazing.
Such an iconic song. Ann wrote the lyrics, Nancy wrote the sweet acoustic guitar parts and Roger wrote that great electric guitar riff. Roger co-founded Heart, in 1967, with bassist Steve Fossen. Ann auditioned for them in 1970 and they immediately hired her. Nancy joined Heart in 1974.
Yes, please watch Heart's tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors if you haven't already done so. They performed Stairway to Heaven and it was unbelievably good. Led Zeppelin members in the balcony were visibly moved.
Caught them in concert in May 2024, sadly they had to cancel the rest of their tour after Ann Wilson was diagnosed with cancer... she's been real update and hopes to continue their farewell tour in 2025. They were both still great in concert.
You need to react to the Heart's tribute performance of Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors with the members of Led Zepplin with tears in their eyes. Ann and Nancy Wilson blew the roof off the place! Thanks!
My sister and I have seen Heart live 4 times. Ann and Nancy are legendary. We were supposed to see them in November 2024. They postponed due to medical issues with Ann.

Love Heart and got to see them as the opening band to April Wine in 1975 and they were awesome! Anne has just been diagnosed with cancer and has had to stop touring. Wish her the best of luck with her treatment and hope for a full recovery. Love your reactions, thanks for sharing.
@Mike-jl1rl Yeah, that's a tough one. I know the definition of rock is broad but Ann was more of a rocker than Linda. Linda's the greatest because she could sing ANYTHING!
Ann Wilson has a voice like no other- so effortless. Ann and Nancy both have an amazing amount of talent. I also recommend listening to the fully mastered released version too. Chills man.
One of my favorites still to this day. I got to see them perform once, but Nancy was on maternity leave. It was still amazing. I understand that Ann was an introverted person... and then discovered her powerful pipes. They were nicknamed "Little Zeppelin", if I remember correctly. Their tribute to Zeppelin doing Stairway to Heaven was awesome. Definitely check out more Heart. An older, softer tune I'd recommend is "Dog and the Butterfly," but there's also Magic Man, etc. 😊
Back then, we expected the artists to sound very similar to their studio versions when in concert. Since most were great musicians and artists to start with working with raw instruments and voice in the studio, many pulled it off.

Heart got their big break in 1975 backing up Rod Stewart in Montreal. I was at that show..as a teenager, there was nobody like Heart. They were a rock inspiration for teenage girls like me. Through the years I've seen them 2 other times. They still have it!
Nancy is one the the best ever rhythm guitarist!!! I've heard stories from the grunge players from Seattle sitting and jamming with her until their hands were shredded and she is still ripping along. Great player!!!!
These two sisters are insanely good! Great choice and reaction! I hope you will do more Linda Ronstadt. Her catalogue is huge, diverse and amazing. 🌸✌️
It still surprises me when you react to such an iconic band, such as Heart, and reveal that this is all new for you. Which is amazing that you're honest and give us a legit reaction. With being a teen in the 80s. I hopped on the hairband train and luved every minute of it BUT I still luved music in general so I went back before my time and followed the train forward into the grunge phase in the 90's I am still and will always be a hair band freak lol but am still proud to be so versed in all types of music. Thanks for following this "crazy" curve into all types of music, I absolutely luv your reactions and have mad respect for ya! Keep them coming! 🤙
Oh yeah, it went down on The Midnight Special every Friday night back in the day. I grew up in the cornfields of Illinois, and this show was my window on the world. So many stellar performances. Thanks for sharing it.
So many great songs by them in the 70s and 80s. Nancy's guitar work is so underrated, I still can't get over that, and living in the Seattle area I've talked to quite a few people who had them just like drop in on their performances. Lower level bands just doing the club circuit and that kind of thing, and they said they were always kind and professional and just really generous with their time. And the fact that they stood up in a wild west of male performers and held their own and got everybody's respect is a big deal. Like you said, they were an inspiration for a lot of females; that you didn't just have to be the object of songs or the object of fantasies. That you could also get out there and be the artist yourself, and make your voice heard when you're talking about things that are different than what the guys would talk about in that situation. The industry really did Ann dirty in the 80s. She had gained some weight after ending her relationship that was the inspiration for quite a few of the songs from the 70s, and they kept filming only her face like she was some kind of ogre they couldn't show... and then they really kind of did Nancy dirty too by making her play a caricature in those 80s music videos. She had to basically act like the guys did, dry humping around while playing. It was really dumb, because obviously when she plays without anybody telling her to do that stuff, she plays like a focused and professional person and not like somebody who's trying to f*** their guitar, and it's just really frustrating how they sexualized them in such a really gross way in the 80s. This song, if you pay attention to the lyrics, is an anti-war song, and it's really profound actually. Where there are those moments where the world is going insane and everything is awful and you don't understand why people can't just get their s*** together, and all you really have left to do when you're wondering if a bomb will drop tomorrow is go crazy on each other if you have somebody to do that with, and try not to think about it and just celebrate the fact that at this particular moment, you actually are alive. Intense stuff.
I just saw them on the first night of their tour with Cheap Trick back in April!! It was phenomenal!! They sounded Ah-Maz-Ing!!! Ann is still a powerhouse!! Sending prayers and positive vibes to her for a speedy recovery so she’ll be able to get back to their tour the first of next year!! Keep going down the Heart rabbit hole BP!!!
Heart was a favorite of mine since they hit the radio. Here's a little something that will blow your mind. Their dad was the Commandant of the Marine Corps and a member of the joint chiefs of staff early in my USMC career and I am pretty sure her was still there at the time of this recording. I remember seeing Nancy playing this song and the back of her guitar was a giant USMC round metallic seal. If you ever see her later in life I am sure she still keeps one on the back of her acoustic guitar. They have earned it - Semper Fi Nancy and Ann!
This performance was on "Midnight Special". It was a TV Show that showcased different bands back in the early 1970s and all performances were just like this, live, unfiltered, and raw. Really cool to look back and remember how music was then.
Thank you so much for bringing back one of my favorites. I have not heard this song in years and I had actually forgot about it. Thank you so much for sharing this.
You don't get any better than Heart regarding female rockers. They were one of my favorite rock bands and still are of the '70s. Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, Tina Turner, Joan Jett, Grace Slick, Joplin, Tina Turner-all were great! I was lucky to see some of them, and then we had beautiful voices like Karen Carpenter. I know I'm forgetting a lot, like Linda Ronstadt and Carly Simon. You need to check them all out. Here is a song you need to play: Janis Ian - At Seventeen (Live, 1976).
I saw them in Jr. High stationed at Barksdale AFB Bossier City around 1977 and was blown away, was 3rd row from the stage. My jaw was dropped the whole damn concert, I rocked out !! 🔥
Ann and Nancy were a huge inspiration to girls (and women) in rock. They weren't promoted as a gimmick "all girl" band and they didn't one hit wonder. When the band broke up it was heartbreaking. (rumour is the constant touring became too much). Ann is now 74 and was still performing but was recently diagnosed with Cancer so prayers and good thoughts for her.
hey, a born Seattlite . as a girl in 1970's and 1980's, it was a pride thing knowing Heart was from Seattle--the radio deejays reminded us of this. they were considered a rock band.

Congrats, you just witnessed one of the greatest singers of all time! Ann Wilson is a legend.
The Midnight special with Wolfman Jack was what to watch. Great your reacting to Heart ❤️ they are sisters.
It's a joy watching your expression listening to the greatest music ever!!! I saw Heart in 1976 outdoors in Medford Oregon, I was nineteen. ❤
Stunning vocals of these ladies. NEED need to listen to Barracuda. also Ann sang "Stairway To Heaven" At the"Kennedy Center Honors"
Saw them back in 1978 at the Yale Bowl. they were the second opening act for the Eagles. They were incredible .
Oh yeah, it went down on The Midnight Special every Friday night back in the day. I grew up in the cornfields of Illinois, and this show was my window on the world. So many stellar performances. Thanks for sharing it.
Yes please. Play their live stuff, they NEVER let you down. Great reacting young baruth.
I seen them in concert in 1990. They were fantastic.
Keep going down the Heart rabbit hole BP!!!
the expression on you face is all the reaction we need for this song!!
Heart live with make your soul explode.
I love Ann ‘s vocals in this one. She has such an amazing voice and I love this song.
hey, a born Seattlite . as a girl in 1970's and 1980's, it was a pride thing knowing Heart was from Seattle--the radio deejays reminded us of this. they were considered a rock band.
Kathy Wilson ❤ sings these dreams. Ann and Kathy are breathtaking.
Love this song!❤❤ I like seeing people live too, watching them do what they do so well!!❤❤
I can listen to Heart all day! Ann & Nancy are legends and definitely inspired me to play music. Magic Man should be next, but to hear their amazing harmonies, you have to react to Straight On and Dog & Butterfly
Heart is one of my favorite bands. I was a kid in the 80’s listening to their 70’s music wanting to be a badass like Anne and Nancy Wilson
