Bro, that guy in the Apex is the one and only Eric Jackson... founder of Jackson Kayaks, and now Apex Kayaks. Multi-time World Whitewater Kayaking Champion and a really great fisherman. He's one of the most influential people in the Kayaking world. I love your videos. Thanks for keeping the content coming. Bummer about the DQ!
I finally caught some bass that counted this day! After prefishing for 2 days and only landing white bass, it was a big relief to catch a keeper early on tournament day.
One technique that works when I am fishing a creek off of a lake or river is "slow rolling" the spinner bait to get it a little lower until you feel it contacting the structure. That method can trigger bigger fish into biting.
Yes, good tip. Most "out of the package baits" are very sharp, but chemically sharping can soften the hook point. After using a bait, sharpen it to get to the harder metal (a fraction above the pre-packaged point). Also, you can change out hooks that just won't hold a good tip. Bottom line a sharp is necessary to penetrate the jawbone on a larger fish. Good Luck & God Bless!
Spinnerbaits are bad about being “not sharp enough” out of the pack. That hook should stick to your fingernail when it touches. It makes a big difference
Yeah it makes a difference. I have a Spyderco triangle ceramic rod with a fish hook groove I carry in my bag. I think worksharp has a fishhook sharpener on one of theirs. Gets them sharper than factory for sure.
Commenting to acknowledge/commend the dedication you have to fishing and them there subs. I'd say keep up the good work but we know you will. Stay blessed folks
I'm pretty disappointed. When you were talking about how discouraged you were, I had full confidence that right after that you were going to start catching enough big fish to win the thing. Oh well, that is the way it goes. And also that is why I don't usually fish tournaments. If I have something at stake, it becomes work instead of fun. And at the end of the day, the only thing, and I mean the ONLY thing that matters is, "did you have fun". I love the way you fish sir.
Try throwing some larger lures then you normally use , like a top water lure shaped like a duck, rat , or snake! You might be surprised with how big the fish will be that you catch !!
Tough break on the ID card but you were getting bites. Right shape but wrong size for the first half. Glad you enjoyed the time, that creek looks great. Methiolate colored fluke...gotcha. blessings John
A lot of fish lost at the boat are because they are brought in too fast and haven't been played out enough. We say they are still hot, but of course if you play em out for too long, it potentially gives em more time to throw the hook as well! The ever present scales of justice... 😂👍

I'll have to try that.

Great video man 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
A lot of the professionals on the Bass tour sharpen their hooks, even the brand new ones. Might try. Help with hookups.

Fishing time!
Man, hate that DQ on a technicality. Still an awesome day!
Lol! Highly appropriate verse.
haha thanks
Tough break with your I.D. But you fished well lots of catches.
That big one you caught for the knucklehead was nice👍
Good day 1 John, maybe day 2 will be better 🐟🎣🐟🎣
Do you use a trailer hook for spinner baits. It might increase your hook up ratio.
You did great 👍
John you doing good I know you can do this❤❤❤❤
Cool video
Lol we're used to you starting late.
good time..

Double your number of cast…especially after catching a good fish.
Seems like you need a trailer hook on the spinner.
I’ve been waiting for this. I was looking at your progress on the app why did that big one not count
None of them counted, he said he got his ID tag number wrong and it disqualified his weight for the entire day
@@timdarnell7819 ouch
yeah i messed up my ID when i wrote it down, aggravating but thats the rules
Details, details.
👍🎣

Dude got a $10k kayak. More money than sense. Lol.
what does an expensive kayak have to do with sense? seems like a good way to spend money, but he also created it
