    Amp hours is part of the story, but wattage output over time is more important, if you measure watt-hours you'll get the power output over time. Volts x amp-h = watt-hours.

      Super interesting. Thank you for adding to our math. We will definitely consider it the next time we do a comparison like this.

      Thank you for checking out our channel Jonno. It is Stihl's policy that they only sell through private dealership to maintain their product quality and demonstrations. Maybe this will help in locating a dealer near you: www.stihlusa.com/locator/

    We have Stihl, EGO, and Husky stuff. Stihl dealers (two here) are excellent. No real Husky support. EGO had been very good with direct support by calling them. We've had two batteries and a charger fail (after MUCH use), all replaced immediately by calling customer support.

    I have the Ego 765cfm with 5.0AH battery and it is a beast. Never need turbo. I use it when I have a ton of stuff to move or if maybe the leaves are very wet. Otherwise, I use my Kobalt for yard, patio etc., and my Craftsman to blow out my garage and porches. The Kobalt is the most balanced and very easy to use. The Craftsman is really light and very handy for what I use it for. The Ego is the best blower you can buy imho.

    I want a battery leaf blower. Hard for me to justify spending 300$ I'd like one for small 5 minute uses. If i start my 2 cycle i feel like it should be ran 10 minutes minimum

    I think The Craftsman blower you used was the cheapest. In this price range I think the 410 CFM 5 Ah brushless for $149. might have faired better in your test. Thanks for the video.

    I planned to get either De-yellow 20v or Ma-teal 18v for my unwired blowing needs (due to in-house batteries here), but drastic price increases on both of these sent me to Lowe’s. Just bought the 40v Kobalt with battery and charger for a cost of bare tool options on my existing battery platforms.

    Would have been better to use Watt hours as you are using different size batteries and you can also adjust the runtimes etc to account for the different size batteries to make it a fair comparison. Not really fair to put a 2.5ah against a 4ah battery and then just measure the runtime on its own 🙂.

    • @mainstreetmower
      @mainstreetmower  6 місяців тому

      I see your point. It's a valid critique that i would definitely employ in our future videos. However, the point of comparing different size batteries was to see what these brands offer out-of-the-box. You can upgrade batteries for any of these brands.

    Overall I’d probably go with stihl….good average blower with a good customer support process ….seeing how I have a dealer not far from me.
    I currently have a harbor freight brand blower and so far it’s been doing blower things just fine…not a power house by any means but it’s primary used for cleaning out the garage …when it breaks it’ll be in the dumpster!

    Got a skil blower, battery and charger at dirt cheap for $65. Looked brand new. Shocked to see your rating on it, it does great in my opinion. Price wise I couldn’t leave it behind. Plus the battery has a built in cooling system, when you hook it up to the charger after using it you can hear the loud air flow from the charger going through the battery vents. Awesome video.

    Great review! I have a bum shoulder I was interested in how difficult it is to operate each of these. Toro has the handle, so I bought it. Had I known that the Ego had a strap I might have purchased it. We'll see. Thanks again.

  • @genemetz1945

    Actually I ease up on the trigger to slow down my blower so I can adjust my leaf pile as the full speed of my 80-volt blower is to much to get a neat leaf pile. I love my Kobalt 80-volt with 5-ah battery. I have had it for over 3 years.

  • @Surmoka
    @Surmoka Рік тому

    The Crapsman is very disadvantaged with its tiny battery here. A 60V 2Ah battery will produce 3x the power of a 20V 2Ah battery. A 20 or 24V 4Ah battery will produce twice the power of a 20V 2Ah battery. I'm not referring to runtime here, I'm referring to a higher voltage or amperage which diirectly translates into speed and torque, respectively.
    The Crapsman would have done much stronger with a 4Ah battery.

    The kobalt blower with 40V 4.0 Ah battery and charger on sale made it a better value for me.
    Haven't tested and timed the lowest effective leaf blowing speed yet.
    My 40V 2.0 Ah kobalt weed trimmer battery is 8 years old and still reaches a full charge.
    The new 40V 4.0 Ah battery seems to make the trimmer sound better.
    Corded, tough and durable.
    I still like my 2012 corded electric craftsman made by greenworks 235 mph /150 mph blower with vacuum and 18:1 mulching and has a metal fan.
    Its just too old to get another collection bag for it.
    The plastic closure zipper failed and doesn't stay zipped.
    Cordless is very nice but there is no vacuum mulching feature.
    After leaf blowing I use my 21 year old craftsman push mulching mower with rear collection bag.

    Blowers for any serious application need to be gas, they require way too much energy for battery. Battery blowers are good for clearing some grass clippings off a driveway or street, but that's about it. My fall cleanup requires running a backpack blower wide open for about 20 hours. To get enough air to move heavy arborvitaes leaves out of my 765cfm Ego, i have to be on the turbo button the whole time. 11 minute run time and you finish with an overheated battery that needs to cool before recharging, so that's 2 hours down for every 11 minutes running. I'd need a dozen batteries and chargers to keep up with gas...totally impractical. Commercial cordless blowers are $2k...and they can't do what a $600 gas backpack does.
