Man this video helped so much! We have 12+ of these at my work (a public transportation bus base) and I had no idea how to service these because the manual is almost useless. We had a guy who always did it in day shift who liked to keep information to himself but he retired a little while ago so it's fallen to me during Night Shift. Thank you so much for sharing! Now I can make the mechanics happy 👍
i just picked up a model 500 system 1 - yesterday (free) they hadn't run it in 5 years. Thanks this was very informative, i've plugged it in and so far the primary pump works. Going to clean it up a bit check the reservoir and the recycle system.. I learned more here than in the original manual ...
@@pincusa quick question, what have you been using for solvent? My local parts store has "Zep II Spirits " for a reasonable price but it's flash point is 199F. My assumption is that the recycle process will take quite a bit longer if it works at all ..
@@pincusa Thanks, i picked up 25 gallons. ... Now i've found that the vacuum pump is toast, I've got it at an electric motor repair shop now and they're looking it over. My current theory is that what ever tells the board that the recycle process is complete is not functioning, The board is always telling the motor to run at this time, Although i can mess with the safety switch and get it to stop and start. Any idea what tells the board the the cycle is complete?
@@bwestfall7281 how long did your let it run for? A recycle takes hours. If the tank is full, just drain it out. I suspect it senses from the heating elements or temp sensor when the solvent is gone from the boiler and stops. But mine will take hours
Just found this video. I bought a used SystemOne Model 501 (I think) about 10 years ago that was stored in a storage locker. It works great, but I haven't used the recycle thing, mainly because it hasn't seen much use since I work overseas most of the year. I need to do a recycle next time I'm back in the shop. I'm crossing my fingers that it works, but with my luck it won't. Your video was helpful to see what's going on inside that thing.
We have one of these at my shop and when I hit the button for recycle nothing happens. (Hasn’t worked in 15 years and I don’t want environmental getting it on their radar) So I’m starting to try to diagnose this and fix it. This is a good orientation video for me. If you have any help on finishing diagnostics literature, it would be helpful.
@@35057 I think you can force a reset by unplugging the unit holding down both buttons (or try each one individually if this doesn't work) plug it back in, release the button after 10sec
Thank you for shearing, great info i am getting the same exact washer from work, it still works but does not re cycle. I will check the fuses first thanks again.
Check the fuses, but then try a reset of the computer. Unplug the system, hold down the on/off switch for 10 sec, plug it back in, and keep holding the on/off switch for 30 sec. When you let go, it should kick off a recycle
I recently picked up a System One washer. I found this video helpful/hopeful haha. I cannot get my machine to get the heater to work (it stays cold) any idea what I should check for? Thank you!
Hi, I would say to start with the fuses. I think fuse 3 and 4 are 6.5A slow blow that run the heater. If that checks out, voltage test the heater connection on the board for 110V, and then move to checking the resistance across the heater to see if it's blown. There's a great service guy in MD, give him a call 443-790-3853
I have Mansur 500 system one. Best washer by far. If you need any parts for it let me know as I was blown away at that guys prices in Oregon.….so I elected to just make my own check valve and pneumatic cylinder base when my unit got worn out. I have a machine shop. If you need the technician level repair and troubleshooting manuals (2 of them) I would be happy to email them to you.
That would be awesome! Mine are still working, but would love the service manual as I'm just figuring it all out myself. My email is pincusa@gmail.com Thanks!
I've got 2 of them had them 22 years love them best parts washer ever!! I've got to clean my email out and then get u to send me that please I will come back soon as I get that working and ask for u to send it !!
Great! Happy to help others Not sure what state your machine is in, but a computer reset would be a good first try Or I can give you the name of the service person who has parts and was a great help
Hello! I too have a SystemOne distilling parts washer. I am interested in draining the unit completely of the mineral spirits still in the unit in order to fill it with PCS1000 which apparently you are using in yours. Do you know of a way to drain the machine of its current fluids?
Hum, I think the best way would be to put a tube down the fill hole and suck it out. I think you can also put a container into the wash bin and capture the fluid. If you hold down the on/off button I think it will pump new fluid up from the tank without a recycle where you can capture all the fluid. Not totally sure
My boss has a system one model 500 that doesn’t seem to be getting hot enough. He says that it gets warm but not hot. Are there 2 heaters in this machine? He said that it never shuts down and that the drain holds a lot more solvent than it should. If you find any literature about these machines I would sure like to see them. Thank you.
I'm no expert, but check the two fuses. If one is blown it won't get hot enough. I'd also drain all the fluid out of the boiler to reduce the load on the heaters
Hello pincusa, nice video thank you for explaining the flow. if you have any footage or would be able to explain how to get the cleaning deck out of it. I have to tear mine down to find a crack in one of the tanks and can't find anything for it
Hi Robert, happy it helped you. I luckily didn't have to pull the tanks out of mine. Where are you seeing fluid? I would start with pulling the pump out of the main tank and looking into that tank. I suspect yours is rusty and you have a pin hole
@@pincusa yes mine is very rusty, luckily I got a hold of a repair and supply company for it yesterday and he was able to tell me the steps needed to remove the tanks. Basically, Drain the solvent as best I could. Then remove all lines connected to the tank and main pump. disconnect electrical connectors from board. then remove the eleven screws around the bottom of the blue outer cover to remove the false bottom. with the lines disconnected and pump out of way he said it should just slide out from there.
Hi, in the washing space there should be a port with a plug. Mine is an Allen key plug. Get a wooden dowel at home depot and use that as a dip stick to check the level in the reservoir
