It hard to know when was Godfrey is in his prime, the one you fight in the game is him just coming back after a long time and older, not sure is he weaker or stronger (Marika does said she's sending him out to grow stronger though) than young Godfrey who bodies literally everyone, and genocide the whole race of fire giants, and also the fact that he's going easy on you for the first half of the fight, so maybe his best form is his Barbarian younger self before he became a Lord?

Think of them as like, all part of a hive mind with individual subjects that the Fell God can pilot with a proper sacrifice. But since this was supposedly the last fire giant alive, the Fell God may no longer be able to manifest itself besides within the Flame of Ruin.

I love Godfrey a lot, he’s definitely a top three favorite boss of all souls titles. Was rooting for my boy the whole time, seeing him pull off that battle was extraordinary.
The introduction of his first earth shattering shifted the tides drastically. Shattering after shattering and the giant had literally no answer to his moves and repeatedly got stunned.... Wow. What a brilliant change of game i witnessed

my dude was not lying when he said "i've given thee courtesy enough" the instant he dropped the axe and started using his hands the fire giant died. he was ravaged by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and suplexed by somebody 1/10th of his size.
wasn't expecting Godfrey to win, mostly because a lot of horah louxs damage comes from the grab attacks he does then he picked up the fire giant, span him like fresh dough ready to be turned into a pizza, and slammed that man into the ground

Yep, the radius on that thing probably gave his men the opportunity to lob siege bombs (aka, Da Vinci’s versions of sea mines{similar to some of the metal ones, but with different materials} , but modified to fit being used in a similar way as a cross between a bomb, an anti air missile and a trebuchet) or use hwachas or similar weapons to effectively squash them and sandwich them between Godfrey’s shockwaves and the siege weaponry
Man, you don't truly realize the sheer scope of Godfrey/Hourah's attacks untill you literally compare them to a giant foe, What an Absolute Mountain-Buster of a Man!
So glad the grabs work in this one. Godfrey vs. fights usually end up feeling really lackluster and gimped in the other boss' favor because Hoarah Loux isn't allowed to do like half of his best attacks.
Saw a youtube comment where they were complaining about how Godfrey defeated Fire Giant lore wise but couldn't beat him in the actual game. Glad this exists just to prove that comment wrong.
So Godfrey most like did this in the Giant War: 1. Lead the battlefield and stomp the area, knocking any giants in the area down, just spamming it. 2. His troops swarm and slaughter the knocked down giants in their weakpoints. 3. He is Tarnished so he could have healing flasks, in addition, some other tarnished healers could exist given their alignment and heal any injuries he sustained. 4. In addition to ranged troops and miracle casters backing him up. I can definitely see how he whooped their asses.
He could just throw his Axe at frist one of Fire Giants, he tends to do that a lot in his fight when you proceed to keep distance from him, he became tarnished later in the lore when he defeated every worthy foe and got banished by Marika.
I was surprised that Godfrey was in the ropes before he started using seismic slams. Then I remembered that was the majority times he did me in during his boss fights.

I think what's most crazy about this fight is that Godfrey's AI pretty much figured out on the fly how to win this fight. The AI in the Dark Souls games is fucking terrifying in how good it is.
I think that's just how Godfrey fights in his (2nd?) Phase. That insane stagger just happened to completely counter a slow moving and attacking enemy like Fire Giant.

I assume the method they used was constraining (or parenting) the transform of the enemy to a certain position relative to Godfrey when his grab attack hit box collides with the enemy collider box.
