Why Apple Vision Pro Is So Expensive

  • The Apple Vision Pro is a $3,500 spacial computing headset. Which, compared to other augmented reality, or AR products, is quite expensive. So why are they charging so much?
Well, its mainly due to the product’s unique technology and component costs.
You see, not all headsets offer the same functionality and experience. There are differences in display quality, resolution, contrast, processing speeds, latency, and more. And as you can see, the Vision Pro delivers incredible specs without compromising on size or design. Which is made possible by years of technological development and high costs of industry-leading hardware.

@@moswanedev This is entirely speculation but based off of industry knowledge as I don't know what these patents are. I think of 2 actually valid patents. One would be a design patent which would be dubious as the headset looks like every other headset. The other would be for the fake eyes on the front.
Everything else has been done before by other VR/AR companies. More pixels or more cameras isn't an invention. The reason to build up patents is for locking others out of the market and for defense. This is all legal department and not R&D. Apple has been run by finance and legal for quite a while now.

Also a cheaper tier is introduced from time to time. Adjusted for inflation, iPhone 15 is cheaper than iPhone 7. And there are more options like older models and SE that make an iPhone more affordable today than when it was first released.

And at $3499 (actually 4k+ w case and tax) is an expensive pill to swallow for something that you cannot use it as often as an iPhone. If iPhone came out w some next gen amazing tech and feature and was $3499, one might still justify it as it is an everyday use device.

Thank you for the breakdown because even when the 1st iPhone came out no one wanted to spend that money for a cell phone but it happened over time and now look cell phones are a thousand bucks so what's wrong with paying $3500 for a device if we spend almost the same amount on their other products combined. Everyone is going to be a follower and get on it once they see other big time people or their favorite influencers review it and actually use it and post content. Apple has always pushed the envelope that's why their #1 once this product becomes successful which it will because it it literally Ready Player One in real life. I'm pre-ordering one and for those who get on later just know they won't be making anymore iPhones I think they got iPhone 16&17 and that should be it maybe because their goal is the Apple Vision Pro while their other products are also being used this Apple Vision Pro is going to replace a lot of Apple products and regular technology products we use daily like a TV. TV's are still amazing so I think it will be nice to rock a Vision Pro from time to time because the eye fatigue will be everyone's main concern is can you really wear this thing for hours and this becoming an everyday device like we all going to be looking like Ready Player One in the streets lol

Here's the thing though. What problem does this solve that existing solutions don't already do just as well, if not better? That's my whole thing with this AR/VR stuff. Every other industry-altering technology that came before brought something new to the table that made the old feel obsolete. The Mac brought computing to laymen. Laptops made them smaller and portable. The iPod and iPhone brought mobility to music, and then general computing, respectively. The iPad is kinda just a big iPhone, but disrupted a huge laptop market. The Apple Watch disrupted a huge existing industry, and it's a relatively small and cheap product. AirPods improved headphones, which everyone already uses. Apple TV disrupted the huge TV market. Their services compete in existing large industries. But the Vision Pro.... just converts some existing apps to 3D and makes everything a bit more immersive, in exchange for wearing heavy goggles on your face, and its only competition is a few other headsets that barely make enough sales to justify keeping them on the shelves.

Apple is just developing ways for price of technology to come down. There are other headsets out there with this technology but no one ever buys them because they're about 2x the price of Apple Vision Pro. Yet Vision Pro is going to be 2x more advanced than them. Apple did this exact same thing with smartphones. They developed a phone with Multi-touch technology. It became the most advanced smartphone in the world. What should have been $5000 at the time, Apple only priced it at around $800 hence the reason why it became the best selling phone in the world. And in today's time, iPhone is still the most advanced smartphone but it is priced the same as an Android. So obviously iPhone still offers the best value from a technical standpoint. If a Samsung galaxy Ultra is $1200, iPhone should be around $3000 due to it having a much more advanced and more expensive operating system on it. Knowing that iPhone is still the only one with 3D facial recognition tech and still the only one with a Dolby Vision capable display. But Apple still only prices it at $1000. Duh it sells better than other smartphones out there.
This is what they're doing with Vision Pro and it's the reason why Vision Pro will succeed over time. Its offering 2x more at half the price
