    Very great tips..never even heard of sugru putty...love the quality of your videos and audio..did you have to sand the helmet to help bind the putty?

    An important factor you forgot to mention is...Hero 4 and older can only
    be plugged into a 1.0 AMP port to charge or use for external power.

    Keep in mind, the 1080p60 footage was a bright day, and 4K footage was a cloudy day. I have to mess around with all the settings a bit more to figure which combination of settings look best for UA-cam. The main shots are on a Canon XF705 which is a professional camera.

    Awesome setup. Question about Sugru. How long has the Sugru glue lasted for you? has it failed on you ever?

      I've only had this 3-months, but it has been holding strong. Seems like it got stronger after the first week or so. Hasn't failed yet.

    Is the audio mod okay for use in the rain?

    • @CoreyOlsonLevi
      @CoreyOlsonLevi  4 роки тому

      Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, the media mod has been fine in the rain. Not sure if it is water proof, but I am using the media mod to plug in the lavaliere microphone. The backside ports on the media mod aren't too exposed if mounting close enough to the helmet. Only been in the rain a few times, but I guess you could plug the un-used ports on the media mod if you are worried about it.

      Media mod isn't rain proof.

    im sorry but how the heck did you even record sound from the external mic at the same time as charging i have been trying this for so long but there is no sound recorded at all when charger is connected when using the external mic

      The GoPro Media Mod allows you to plug in a lavaliere microphone, so you just wire a microphone into the helmet cheek pads and connect to the GoPro. Many lavaliere microphones are just 1/8 auxiliary inputs, if your action camera can accept that, simply plug it in and good to go.

    Does it charge while the go pro is recording?

    • @CoreyOlsonLevi
      @CoreyOlsonLevi  4 роки тому

      My setup maintains the same battery level, and gives 5+ hours of runtime. I usually recharge my helmet battery every 1-2 weeks, and can record a couple times just fine. GoPro is usually fully charged as a result, and draws from battery for the most part.

      Do have any recommended battery packs that would charge it while recording.

    • @CoreyOlsonLevi
      @CoreyOlsonLevi  4 роки тому +1

      SD Crawler To be clear, my setup will (mostly) maintain the battery level while recording, but the GoPro might be limited to 1-2 Amps input regardless of the battery. According to GoPro website, 5V 1-2Amps charges a fully drained battery a within (approx.) 2-hours. If you are needing longer runtime, just keep the GoPro plugged in from the start, so the battery is constantly feeding the GoPro.

      @@sdcrawler8193 GoPro doesn't allow charging while recording. Remove the internal battery and power the gorpo off the external alone. If you leave the internal battery in the camera will use the battery until its depleted and only will charge when youre not recording. The camera can be ON it just can't be recording to charge.

    • @HardBoiledGregADV

      @@MotoMedicine904 this is true. I have a GoPro Hero 8. If I don't remove the internal battery it doesn't use my external battery pack. I have a similar setup to Corey's on my dirt bike helmet with a 10,000 mAh battery affixed to my helmet. I use heavy duty velcro so that I can easily remove the battery when I don't want the extra weight on my helmet. If you watch the videos on my channel you'll see that I ride rough enough stuff, and my battery has never come off the velcro.
