there would be wood seating where those wall brackets are against the hull, and you really need some wood/fabric in there to absorb the moisture/sweating of all that iron. Must have been a miserable existence inside during operation. But in Japan subs you see all wearing WHITE and clean uniforms in the hull!! Couldn't believe it. but then, it's Japan: CLEAN.
