    My 86 4x4 used to run like crap when cold too. I ditched the stock carb and deleted all emissions, slapped a Weber on and so glad I did. Makes more power and it actually idles properly even cold. Best thing you can do with a 22r is convert to Weber.

      You are 100 percent right. I usually run the 32/26 with a manual cable. Always starts and way more performance too. 👍

    Dang I had a t100 with 376k when I crashed it . Now I got a 77 sr5 long bed , its odometer said 4.5k but it only went to 99k im the third owner and the lady that gave it to me got it in 79 I got it 2 months ago. Amazing , it's amazing these old engines are bullet proof thanks for posting

      Awesome man! Ya the t 100 motors are nice too . I have several go past the 300k mark and still hit revlimiter fine ! But the 77 you got , that’s another story. That’s what the legends are made of and every motor after has something to do with these early model motors. The 77 model is one tough truck .I’m sure that truck has some good miles on it and a lot left. It is hard to believe that these motors are still running , and so good. With such little care or maintenance. Almost half a century old and still going . It would not surprise me if you took care of one , if it made it to 100 years and still going. About half way there now! Thanks for sharing your truck. !

      Awesome! That’s is one of my favorite years. Hard to find those. Got the double row timing chain model. The best ones. The last Celica I had had rust and it leaked so much oil the belt would not stay on anymore . Every gasket leaked . I was putting in oil everyday . And that motor had almost 500k in it when I sold it. I saw it driving around years later. I hope to see your video . I will make sure and subscribe! Nice score though!👍🏻

    Just got a 81 with a 83 motor on some 35's. I want to put a marlin crawler in with the works.

    • @fastflo1
      @fastflo1  2 роки тому +1

      Nice.... The 81 is a really good year. That truck with 35's is about my favorite setup for all around wheeling but I mostly mud. I like BFG Mud Terrains. Or Boggers . Then Super Swampers. I also like Buckshots. All the 22r motors are great. But if you di not know this, the only two years they had the double row timing chains are the 81-82 like the 20r motors all had. That's why those years and 20r motors have that legendary status. But they do have a kit that has the double row timing chain with the heavy duty steel backed guides. Its about the only thing that will go first on those motors. I do that to my newer motors I would highly recommend doing that.I sold my wheeler to a friend . This was my setup..... I run marlin 261 crawler cam and a stage 2 head ported and polished stock low end. Weber 32/36 with a 4 inch lift and bobbed bed with lincoln lockers front and rear. Radiator and electric fan bed mounted, front fan removed, and long tube header with dual glass packs into supertrapp diffuser packs that mount in the bed. Welded bumpers and roll bar to the frame solid. Built a amphibious setup and the air cleaner runs out of the glove compartment. Single stage revlimiter with adjustable knob can adjust on the fly from 0 to unlimited. The truck pretty much goes anywhere, always pulling people out. But ya, cool trucks man . Have fun with your project!

    Have a 86 22r. Have to pump the gas at least 25 to 50 times to start when cold. After that it still takes several times of me holding and pumping the gas before it will take off on its own. Where should i start? Thank you!

    • @fastflo1
      @fastflo1  2 роки тому +1

      Most common place I would start is the carburetor. They get old and they do not work great anymore. It can also be a fuel pump. They can get weak over time. My favorite upgrade is to put a Weber 32/36 Carburetor on it. You can get one in a kit that has the adapter plates, carb, air cleaner, gaskets. Pretty much everything you need. Simple setup but very effective. The truck will run like brand new. I usually get the manual choke model. Most seem to like the electric choke. Personal preference. If you do not do that. Check the accelerator pump diaphragm on your stock carb. And see if your choke assembly is working or not that could be an issue. I have done stock replacement carbs also if you do not go with the Weber. Let me know how it goes.
