Long live the 20R! Great video. I did this with my 20R, and recently did this with a 22R I swapped in. I recorded a bunch of video on my 22R swap but I haven't uploaded most of it yet. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
Mine is 1977 20R engine, Toyota Chinook. Started a Chugga lug had a long lasting water pump leak. Gonna use original pump looks good.. Somebody said I had exhaust leak. Sound started after I found a road map of lines on top of hound, loaded with grease, U could not see was there. 2 lines were not connected. But followed. A sound started after that. Recently...... Put a new fail safe thermostat. Waiting for gasket for water pump. Been told to use Permatex High Tack gasket sealant. Autozone. Regular green anti freeze 2 1/2 gallons. Can use hose water 👌 I flushed out radiator, hose high hard squirt sprayed off outside/inside, plus flushed through water pump hole till really clean water ran through......took off coolant reserve container, cleaned all gunk. Put new spark plug wires, 1 new, others looked good. Never changed points B4, bought preset from O' Reilly's have to wait & see how it runs, when gasket gets here, for water pump, hope, by Friday 7/22/22. Always wanted to do what your doin in this 📹 👍 🏆 😊 💋😘
are you going to make a video on opening up the valve cover? im trying to convert my corona to mechanical fuel pump and i would like to see in detail the front of the camshaft without an eccentric like mine before i tear it open.thank you man. great video.
Thanks! I'm in the process of editing the next video of cleaning the engine and putting it back together and I do take the valve cover off but don't go into much detail about it.
This is awesome. Im totally looking forward to the 2nd video. I’m in the process of cleaning and reconditioning my 20r engine in my daughters 1979 Toyota Corona Liftback (it’s gonna be her Christmas present) I did have a request for some advice. I already finished the valve cover with new gasket and paint but I don’t want to put it back yet until I clean the crank case because there’s dirty oil and sludge from being neglected by previous owner. Is there any chemical or method you recommend to safely clean all that stuff out? Thank you for your time.
Thanks man! I’ll be posting a second video showing how I cleaned mine up soon but basically I pressure washed the whole thing and used a regular engine degreaser. Then I had to put in a bunch of elbow grease using a mix of a screw driver and wire wheel to get the rest of the gunk off.
Why would my 20R carb leak at top of speed idle screw & fuel/air mixture screw, shows no fuel in window. 1977 toyota pick up. P.S. would ground wire broken in distributor cause no spark?
Hello Demetri... I have a Toyota 21R engine in a recent acquired pickup and a 22R in my 1984 Toyota sedan... I was gonna swap the 21R for a 22R I have in my garage but the 21R gets great gas mileage to my surprise so I plan to keep it... My question is can the parts for 22R fit my 21R ? And is there a low cost carburetor I can buy or should I have it rebuilt to be cost effective ? Thanks
Unfortunately I don’t know much about the 21R as I’ve never come across one. I’d think it would be similar enough to use some parts but maybe not all. I’d say rebuilding the original carb is the best way to go unless you get a Weber
@@dimitripatsis7418 ok thanks for info, I'll look to rebuild carb because a Weber is definitely too expensive for what the pickup truck will be used for... Thanks again and I'll keep watching your videos
Smog pump on bottom left of motor. Power steering is a option. I have a 79 limited edition pickup. It came with all options. Power steering, tilt steering wheel, air conditioner, sunroof.
Thanks, good first steps. I have a 20R in my Celica and have plans to start restoring it in the spring. So looking forward to more videos!
Good luck on your project! I'll be posting a new video very soon

Engine degreaser and brake cleaner is what I had to use on mine. I did pressure wash it before I really started cleaning it.

Buenas tardes camarada disculpe el ajuste de la mezcla de este carburador amigo

Wait my Toyota pickup is 77 with the 20r sr5 and i have no power steering
I think I got it wrong when I called it the power steering pump. Honestly still don’t know what it is but the motor I put together didn’t need it
