Elektron Analog Rytm MKII 8 Voice Analog Drum Machine & Sampler.
    Project downloadable at github.com/sm-ll/ER/blob/main...
Friday jam exploring some SH-101 samples I recorded. Loads more in the project download I didn't use actually. I'm going to do a video talking through sampling stuff I think, now that Elektron have improved this. But for now, just a jam with no talking. Enjoy.

Cheers, appreciate the listen and reaching out.
So it’s sampling the SH101, and then using the new sample features in OS1.70 to test the new workflow and if the shaping of those sounds is better with the new upgrade. The samples are pretty basic patterns so beyond that it’s all Rytm yeah.
I do run through a compression for videos just to deal with the peaks to get a good volume through to UA-cam both on the sounds and the mic (although no talking on this one obv)
but yeah you should be able to download the project and it sound pretty much the same.
I’m going to do a video swapping put the SH101 for internal Rytm, as it’s definitely possible as only some resonant patterns and nothing too crazy going on before it hits the grey box.

@@ExpectResistance my pleasure! and thank you for the Projects/Kits. Think I can use some of them as a starting point for my sounds and jams. And much respect for what you are doing (have to dig deeper)

The Project file used in the Rytm videos is free to download. The link is in the description and you can download from Github to use in your own Rytm.

Do you play the sounds with the pads? Mine don’t seem to respond well; I have to hit them hard to register and even then they don’t go to full velocity.

    • @ExpectResistance
      @ExpectResistance  8 місяців тому +1

I rarely play the pads to be honest, although if i record a pattern in i do. I set the velocity to fixed and 127 so I don’t have to press so hard.

@@ExpectResistance I see. They seem to be poorly designed for playing

    • @ExpectResistance

Agree, they definitely could be better.
I tried the Push 2 recently and the pads on that are way harder which i was surprised about. You can get to full velocity but i think it requires some proper thumping. I feel the pads should be softer although they seem to soften a bit over time, but softer like a piano would have been better.
Assigning performances to pads i have to really push them very hard to get full amount. I mainly use them to switch between tracks, and mutes. The Roland R8 pads are soft plastic and they are better i think, and that’s saying something.

@@ExpectResistance How are these pads even popular if they cant be played properly?! I had a Novation Tracks and from what I recall they were great. This is 5 times more expensive and unplayable?? Profoundly disappointed as an Elektron loyal fan.

Elektron have never struck me as a company that operates in the drum pads space, even Akai got it wrong. Seems like a tough issue, i can only assume it’s balancing wear, versus feel, still, seems odd they went ahead with the firmer pads. Although the architect of the Rytm doesn’t strike me as one in that finger drumming space in sound or features either, so perhaps it was an area they compromised on. Who knows. They are fine for me as i don’t finger drum. Assuming a techno 808/909 inspired box, finger drumming was less important maybe?
