Hey Steve. I am sooo happy that you finally showed yourself.

Enjoyed revisiting this with you. Really struggling with losing Steve Albini, such a stong influence on me. I think 'Vitties' is short for 'Victuals' - food and drink - pretty old school

All through the 90's and 00's whenever Steve Albini came up, most people were like "fuck that guy", but I've seen just as much love and respect for him in death as say Bowie or Prince...online anyway. It's weird. You see in that letter how his personality was, abrasive as his music. A straight shooter though and obviously talented. I've definitely enjoyed much of his work over the years. Respect.

    Thanks for sharing this!

thanks , way back in Basing St , Muff Winwood , studio manager at the time , was offered points or cash to produce the relatively unknown Dire Straits , he chose cash

In fact I don’t know. I don’t know about albini , but, yes to the context and approach to mixing and your breakdown and the letter . Tops. He famously slated samplers but agree I think it’s not what that parts about.

What is going on with the fluffy/sibilant/poppy/windy vocal? pretty strange choice, (clearly its a choice, and not a mistake, since you look like a producer)
