I wasn’t really looking for a $1600 analog drum machine but now that they updated it to sound like an 8-bit Commodore 64 I’m in.
Idk, more versatility is usually a good thing.

I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak.
I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds.
When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap.
I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power.
In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with.
What would be your suggestion?

Elektron is great but FX are dated imo. I dont really care to much for the FX selection on elektron machines. For the price they need to bring them up to 2024 speed imo. Especially the syntakt. For 1000 dollars the FX should be much better. This update is great though. Thank you Elektron!
Dated how? I think the FX on the Digi series sound lush and versatile. The RYTM could use some FX tuning though. Somehow the reverb never sounded as nice as on the analog four to my ears, though I'd have to imagine it's the same algo.

@@politesociety the reverb is mid on every unit. Look at all the FX offered on korg units, novation, hydrasynth and roland units for comparison.
@@voodoohex72 I have korg and Roland devices with highly variable reverb quality. My novation synth doesn't have reverb. Do you have specific models in mind? The hydrasynth is quite something though. Still though, I guess these things can be highly subjective.
@@politesociety novation peak. Korg opsix, modwave and wavestate have much better FX. Roland FX is ok but there is a lot more FX in general. Honestly though im usually using overbridge so its kind of a non issue since I opt for DAW fx. But it still would be nice for these expensive machines to have some better FX offerings. I guess you are supposed to buy the new heat for that?
