Sherry love your content and you made me smile big with the rainbow pajamas too cute!
I find a ramp test easier than pacing myself even for 20 minutes. As long as you stick with one protocol you are good, don't forget a good fan!
thank you :)
I am testing lactate and carbs at my local university, 2 hours at 90% of my lactate threshold with a test every 15 mins then for as long as I can manage at 150% lactate threshold. During the 2 hours I am given either carbs or a placebo.
sounds like really cool project :)
You're an inspiration for us. Greetings from Malaysia!🎉😊😊
Thank you so much!!
Great video really enjoyed it thanks ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Your FTP is quite impressive. I won’t spoil it in this comment section:). I also did my FTP test in Girona a while ago while I was traveling. It’s painful test 😅 Great effort!
Nice work! Yes I am more like a diesel engine ^^
Good effort - you have a good engine! What events are you doing next year?
thank you, Atlas Mountain Race, Transiberica, Utrecht Ultra and Race Across Belgium so far :)
WOW! Again super helpful! I have diabetes so I have to do some science as well:D Thanks for the tipp!
thank you :) happy its helpful
I eat porridge in the morning maybe 330+ days a year. Took a week or so but then I can't begin the day without porridge and when I give myself a break and have a fried cooked breakfast I sometimes make porridge for lunch because I miss the porridge. Oats, milk powder, water and a teaspoon of sugar. That and a MOKA coffee once a day in the morning. I enjoy making coffee with a MOKA pot.
I bought my very first smart trainer on Friday and have now set it up with and ready to do my first ride tomorrow. Rather than go through the pain of a full FTP test, I'm thinking of picking an easily achievable power I know I can maintain for 20 mins, and then once a week increase that target power by 10% and do this every week until I can no longer maintain it for 20 mins. I bought it to more carefully set my watts and hopefully I can increase my zone 2 power because currently I am mostly in zone 4 and 5 on my local rides. I would be interested and motivated to see how you progress in increasing your zone 2 power. I'm training for non-competitive bike packing.
I guess all your blood is going to your legs!
Thanks for sharing.
porridge is the best :) sounds good for bikepacking is more about staying on the bike for longer
@@Buzzalong.cycling Hey!, Just did my third ride on my sparkly new smart trainer ... a beginners 'lite' ramp test. First time I've known an estimate of my FTP and I've never seen my HR so high and was a little fearful of pushing it even higher. But this I take as good news since it may mean I'm slightly fitter or slight less unfit than I thought despite a few years off the bike and two concussions. I'm inspired by how you push yourself. Next week I'll push more and see if my FTP is a little higher still.
I'll be interested in how your training progresses!
This is great info. I need to do this too.
thank you :) yes gives you so useful info
Hey, nice setup and effort. What Lactatetest kit would you recommend?
Thank you 🙏 I used the lactate plus it worked pretty well
I am the champion of Flat Tyre Protocol Test. Today 100 km in the evening (20 laps of another circuit) and just before the end of the 15th lap : pft, pft,pft Flat Tyre at rear wheel. I repair it not to finish on foot. And as soon as reached home, I cut an old inner tube in two parts and put it between the tyre and the inner tube in function to thicken caoutchouc of the rear tyre. I wish it will work and prevent me for annoyance for a long time. I succeeded the Flat Tyre Protocol Test. I could finish the 20 laps I wanted to do.
I am not very good at the flat tyre protocol but happy you managed to finish your challenge :)
Are 25W steps not way too large when you want to find aerobic threshold or LT1? I would do it again from 130 to 170 in 10W steps. Standard test is not very good when you are after a specific thing.
yeah might do another one later on when I get fitter ^^
Very interesting
Sick onesie! 🦄
^^
incredible!! 🤩
Thank you!! :)
Thank you for sharing your data, very informative and helpful; I guess your normalized power (per kg of body weight) is even more impressive. What is your body weight? You should be very lightweight, I think. I reckon your FTP power to weight is around 3.9 - 4.0 W/kg?
thank you :) I havent check my weight lately, will wait to after January, after all the holiday meals
Hi, what indoor setup are you using now? Are you still with the Wahoo Bike V1? Do you still recommend it, or have you found a better indoor setup?
yes I still have the wahoo bike but I alsolike to use the Cycplus 3T trainer to be able to train the position on my road bike
the secret is raspberry, isn't it ? (3th minute and 8th second of the video) or you can do a smoothie, tell me if you will do a smoothie, which fruits you put in it . Le "pot belge" will be replaced by 'le dutch pot" by Misses Cardona and Mr Tewes
thanks :) yes the secret is raspberries, I use it with kefir
See you in Morocco 🇲🇦😎 consider my FTP is very low too, but there’s more to ultras than FTP.
see you there :)
Why are you adding water to your espresso? 😱
Don't you stretch before using the smart trainner, do you?
not really, i stretch after
Doesn't your zone 2 also get 'bigger' when your FTP increases? And you say threshold / FTP is irrelevant for ultra-cycling, but surely you push more than 160 Watts (your zone 2) when going up climbs?
not necessarily, you can have a big ftp but not a big zone 2 if you focus mostly on intensity. Not really I take it easy on climbs, thats one of the reason why I go for super lightweight setups and a generous gear ratio so I dont have to push it climbs and not build lactate or get injured, you always pay for your efforts late on in ultra.
@@Buzzalong.cycling I don't know where you got this info from, but that's not really how it works.
Yes you can prioritize to a zone. But to get your zone 2 watts higher, you need to elevate your sealing (treshhold, and vo2max zones). If those go up, your zone 2 will grow in power. If you almost only ride in zone 2, you will be good at riding zone 2 for very long. But you won't really get faster at riding in that zone. So to get faster in zone 2, you need to do zone 4 and 5 training every now and then.
I found another musical FTP Test :
ua-cam.com/video/4sJBJ-33EJw/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/4sJBJ-33EJw/v-deo.html
when I listen to it my heart increases its rythm and keeps calm in the same time and there is no more zone 1 or zone 2; 3 or 4 or 5 : there's only my bike, the wind, the trees I see pass through and I am warm in the peloton and my face smiles. Another way of training : you go on mountain bike on a route once or several times and after this quiet tedious experience you go on the same way or another similar with a racing bike and the tedious experience becomes magically a marvellous experience : light as air: today tuesday, during three hours at 35km/h without any strong effort on flat route in a peloton (if I was alone, I would have reach only an average speed of 25km/h or 28 or 29km/h and would done a nap after the ride) Today's I was feeling a lack of fresh green air so I went on a cyclist circuit of 3 km triangle-shaped in a wood and did 26 laps. 26*3=78 + 10km to go + 10km return = 98km. Tomorow wednesday, I manage to find another new route
^^
Sherry, sweetie, always stay hydrated and drink plenty of water! Your lips look a bit dry. I’m not sure why, but nonetheless, you look fit and strong.
:)
Thank you, I will
really the cyclists of the end of the 20th century were wonderful

The hardtail with dropbars in the background is taking me out, I guess it's efficient but it is so ugly x))
^^ its a cool bike tough super light! full build coming up this Sunday
It's an amazing Frankenstein!! Dropbar MTB is the future of cycling!!
