Films about ultracycling are “common”, ultracycling is about pushing limits. Making a movie yourself about going ultracycling while actually ultracycling, that’s going beyond limits. Great to watch!
@@Buzzalong.cycling great stuff Sherry, enjoying the video so far! I took part in the RAtN this year as well, I also filmed the race - hope you don't mind me dropped a link here to the first episode - ( ua-cam.com/video/W2QPH2faOxo/v-deo.html ) This was my first ultra distance bike packing race as well, unless you count Paris-Brest-Paris which is vaguely similar! The only bit I didn't film was the endless sheep and sheep gates - glad to see you film them - as a reminder I didn't imagine it!
For sure, the mental strength to overcome the myriad of problems & challenges is the single most important trait required to finish a bike packing race.
Beyond words, amazing! You are something else entirely, an Ultrawoman! Very nice compilation of the event. Thanks for capturing the beauty of Netherlands. Keep it up! Rest well..
Great accomplishment, and a great movie. The idea to combine footage of the recce (?) and the actual race is genius, and the editing seamless. Thanks for taking us with you.
Many thanks :) I also did London to Brighton, it was actually my first long ride. I think it is building up the mileage and training, I like to use my bikepacking trips as training, really fun way to cycle long-distance and discover new places.
Cracking video! I love cycling in the Netherlands; lovely and flat but beware the Dutch Mountains......wind! I have never seen a more charming young lady who happens to be a beast on the bike! Chapeau.
Thank you for this amazing video and congratulations to this great effort. It's perfect for future participants to see what they are heading to and for us who already raced it's a great recap. Thanks, Bernhard Cap3.
After 5 000km I am laying in my tent in a bery small town in the Outback of Australia watching this video...I still got 3 000km to go !! The video give me inspiration and tomorrow its off to Daly Waters...just a Roadhouse..not a town.I crossed the Nullarbor Plain...a distance of 1 250km between two towns....Australia is huge!!!! My load is sometimes up to 50kg...I love cycling....
I am really happy to hear that it inspired you to keep going on your amazing journey! What an adventure! hope you manage to your goal. I would love to explore Australia by bike one day
Amazing achievement. Have never heard of this ultra challenge before. I'm so impressed by your stamina and ability to keep cycling through the night (more than once). Wonderful accomplishment. Hope you're not still traumatised by sheep.
I finished watching this video while doing indoor cycling, it motivates me and inspires me so much. You’re a very passionate person and I like your videos! Keep them coming!
Wow, insane effort and great job on the film making as well! Never even heard of this race before but did a similar route once and it definitely took me a few days longer (I wasn't racing but from the experience I can imagine how tough this must have been!).
Huge congratulations to you Sherry 👏👏. What an amazing achievement and one you have every reason to be super proud of. Also, thanks so much for sharing this video about your ride, warts and all! We really enjoyed watching this and are full of admiration for how you battled on through all that adversity. We look forward to following your cycling journeys into the future. 😄
Great compilation of the adventure! Congrats on your great achievement and perseverance in difficult moments. Greetings from a fellow rider, cap no 53.
Congratulations on this major achievement! You are a tough cookie and a strong adventure cyclist. If I may share two pieces of advice : for long distance rides, I'd recommend Panaracer PT Messenger in 700 x 32 or 35 cc, they never let me down (like a puncture in every 10,000 Km); stick to real food, eat cakes, pastries and chocolate as treats and rewards (I can't stomach gels or sugary drinks).
Many thanks for your comment :) Totally recommend it, great experience! However next year is the gravel edition, the next road edition will be in 2024.
Una travesía muy exigente por un país maravilloso y muy agradable a la vista pero con un clima duro. Esa llegada fue muy emocionante. Felicitaciones y que sean más retos como estos.
Well done. Thank you up-loading this inspirational movie. If you can do this, you can do anything! All the best with your future adventures. Your parents did a fine job. ;)
MAD RESPECT!! You did a brilliant job!! Great achievement!! We also had the ultra distance race here in Indonesia called Bentang Jawa.. Around 1500 km from west part to east part of Java.. Hats Off to you!!
Been watching your channel for a while, great info and great footage. Thinking of doing the RatN in 2024. Will be my first ever ultra distance event, not sure if I am mad or not. Might just have to go for it and scrounge kit to do it.
Great video Sherry! Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your achievement! I have shared your video on my website 😉. Greetings from a fellow rider (cap 79)
Great summary of the race and congrats on fighting through your troubles. Ahhh.. the Keutenberg! After all those kilometres that is the first one that really takes a hit on your legs.
Just found you and i subscribed that was a ride you will tell your Grand children about the cold the lack of hot food and the lack of food full stop due to the organisers not advising riders about early closing and the lack of petrol station food an amazing ride keep safe Buzz.
Brava … amazing! Thanks for capturing and sharing this epic adventure. I think your cheerful and positive attitude made a big difference and that’s something that I will take away for my own little bicycle excursions. Well done!
many thanks for your comment :) glad you enjoyed the video! I think keeping a positive attitude in difficult moments really helps, and just remind yourself that overall is an adventure to enjoy.
Thanks for putting this video together - reminds me of great memories riding the route. It shows your determination (and planning/bike prep) is most important. Congratulations on such a good time. It was my first ultra event and you learn so much that you can only know by doing it - I had to fly home on day5 so couldn’t finish, but can’t wait to enter next year fully prepared. Cap#78
Many thanks! Wish you the best luck for next year, are you doing the gravel edition? I will dotwach the race. It was an amazing experience, specially sharing it with fellow riders and dotwatchers. Yes, i think you learn so much about your self and what you can do, definitely useful for future events.
You can do it! The way you experience the landscapes is so different, both bikepacking and racing is enjoyable but by racing makes you push your self to be in certain times at certain places like sunrise and sunsets which are so amazing!
Films about ultracycling are “common”, ultracycling is about pushing limits. Making a movie yourself about going ultracycling while actually ultracycling, that’s going beyond limits. Great to watch!
