After I decided to use organic potting soil and sand in my new tank, this video comes out! I'm guessing the plants I will want will make my decision for me. In my existing tank, I have no soil but have the fired clay substrate. I like it but wanted to try something different on my next tank, as I am always wanting to learn. A great video, as always. Take care.
When i first planted hygrophila species in only sand they were doing not so good 😕 Bu when i added bristlenose and platies they created huge waste and by time the waste goes under sand plus i dont vacuum clean the sand so after a month the hygrophila pinnatifida, corymbosa and many other grown nicely , the colour , texture all is nice now and the tank is now running stable 😀
You can grow plants just in sand substrate but add some pest snails and fish, feed them almost every day but don't use filter, vaccuning or waterchange. Leave inside aquarium what's inside aquarium. Same can be done using flowerpot substitute under sand but you will need heavy planted tank and no or minimal feeding first mouth or two
Great info. 🤝🏻
