The guitar is still around £400 and the amp hes using is around £800. Its not as cheap of a setup as everyone is making it out to be just because they can see the squier logo.
This part of the comment section displayed the part I really want to learn for this wonderful song by the Chili Peppers, yet not much or any has the tutorial or tabs explaining it🙂
I've seen RHCP with John seven times in my life. This is what his guitar sounds like live. Well done mate. I've never been more impressed with a cover.
What a cover. To achieve the tone similar to Frusciante's is something we all aspire to. Just like how most of us guitarists here would want the tone of Slash, Hendrix, SRV and maybe even Angus Young.
It is amazing how some guitarist can make the sound of a rig worth thousands of dollars with a cheap guitar and some effects. This is pure class, amazing cover!
I think my favorite part about your whole cover is you're using the same gear we can all get and afford, it's your skill in playing that sets you apart.
Not only is this a great cover but I think his gear is a great lesson for people wondering what kind of gear they should get. He just crushed every aspect of that song, the tone, the feel with a squire. I'm assuming he has a decent tube amp he's playing through. An amazing expensive guitar will sound like crap through a bad amp. But a cheaper guitar through a great amp, will sound great. I know there are very nice squires but I still think the point I'm trying to make stands. 10/10 the best guitar cover I've seen. I also never thought to use my second finger on the G string when playing the first E root note progression on the main riff. I would always just jump my first finger back and forth between the E and G strings.
This song is all technique and you definitely nailed it. You can nail the tone pretty easily on almost any strat bridge pick up. The technique is what makes the song.
Great guitarists can make any guitar sound great. A lot of top guitarists have low-end guitars in their inventories/collections. It’s all about the feel and the guitarist. I mean Jeff Healey played a Squier and he was legendary.
He could've changed the pick ups but I think as long as you have a decent amp any guitar can sound this good...and also if you can actually play the thing 😂 This guy though has nailed tone and technique
@aNtiDIsEsTabLisHMenTaRiAniSM StRuCtuREd aGaiNSt yOu Have you ever even touched a Squier? They're really nice guitars, especially the Classic Vibes. I mean, as long as it's not a Bullet, it may as well be a misprinted Fender.
I love how hard those notes are hit in the beginning. I only looked up a cover to see if guitarists are supposed to strum as hard as I imagined. Great cover and you nailed the solo!
Ok I guess this is real according to the comments if i keep watching lol. I'm 33 seconds in and legit thought it sounded like you just played the actual track... How is it that spot on...
Really good man. The only thing I'd suggest is to play the barre chords with the open F shape instead. That's how Frusciante plays it, and the thumb wrap definitely adds a different sort of texture. Great!
Damn, this song is perfect a sick bass line and a sick guitar line aswell, you made it so the bass line and the guitar didnt overshadow eachother through good mixing. You make the song have more rhythm :D
+Federace Thanks a lot! I will probably buy a new, better stratocaster when I have the money. But right now, I'm pretty broke. Thanks for liking and subscribing! :)
No problem!! Remember that MIM Strato's or Mexican Stratocasters are also great guitars, maybe not like an american, but are so similar ^^ AND CHEAPERRR HEHE :3 Greetings from Argentina ^^
Thanks a lot man! To get this sound I recommend using the drive channel on your amp with very low gain, where it's just breaking up. Use the bridge pickup on your single coil guitar and use a compressor to make it sound more percussive. A little bit of spring reverb helps it sound bigger. Hope this helps!
A compressor pedal was the only pedal I used on the main riff. Clean sounds generally sound better with compressors because the tone gets more powerful and "in your face".
only guitarists can understand how great this cover and tone is.
Thank you!
The muting on this song is so difficult! I applaud this cover
Aidan McCluskey true
Rob Jennings man I agree it's so damn hard
Aidan McCluskey true
Proof that a cheap guitar in the hands of a skilled guitarist can sound like a 4 times more expensive guitar.
The guitar is still around £400 and the amp hes using is around £800. Its not as cheap of a setup as everyone is making it out to be just because they can see the squier logo.
Dont forget pedals and such
Edward Woodvine huh ? You can get a squier strat for around $200 in 2018.
H8 R3D it depends which model
he has a classic vibe 50's they are definitly at least 400
Dude it literally sounds exactly like the real recording. How accurate can this guy get holy crap. Sick cover dude!
I really like the variation of the riff you did at 1:48, sounds so cool.
That was awesome indeed
It does sound really nice. I believe I've even heard John and Josh do similar variations before.
John does it allot live in 06/07
Incredible
@@Alex-ms1tt Thought I heard it before on Slane Castle and /or Hyde Park too.
This is fantastic, sounds like the professional recording with the guitar enhanced. Your muting technique for this song is awesome too.

I might be 8 years later but dude... You nailed it!
As drummer there is something so satisfying about watching guitarists play
Wtf it sounds like the actual track😳
Because he's really tweaked with his EQ probably using logic
I found this two years ago and still come back to it because this cover is so fantastic

Dude the solo gave me chills, sounds really professional and effortless. You are true talent!
Thank you!
Small Clone? Sounds perfect. Tad bit heavy on the solo reverb. But still the best RHCP guitar cover on YT. Good job.
Congrats on the flawless performance and the tasty embellishments at 1:48!
i like moment 1:47 :)
Really want to know how to play that
Look at Can't Stop live at Tarata and you will hear even better fills
Yeah one year later and I learned :D
GoatGoat howwwww XD congrats thou
found any other bands you liked along the way?
Wow! You nailed John's tone, with a fender amp, that's amazing! This is definitely the best cover of this song, on UA-cam.
such a great cover.
This is it when you say “You Nailed it” .. i’m jealous for that tone 🤤
How many of you judged right away because he's playing a Squier? Just goes to show that it isn't always about the guitar you play. What a great cover.
Logan Carrigan no cause im a squire player! They are good guitars, however those bullet ones seem like crap!

This Classic Vibe Squier is better than MIM Fender !
Nah, have tried both and there's a very close difference, but if you're not in a band or you're not playing live the classic vibe is a great option
Classic vibe Squiers are killer guitars. I have an American standard strat but I love to play my friend's classic vibe

No way, how can this dude be so accurate holy shit. Sick!
If I didn't have enough money for all the pedals which one pedal should I get just for the main riff. THANKS
A compressor pedal was the only pedal I used on the main riff. Clean sounds generally sound better with compressors because the tone gets more powerful and "in your face".
Carl Hedlund thank you
ds-2 not ds1 the ds1 is way to harsh and the ds2 has been in frusciantes pedal board since literally 1991 through all the rhcp albums
Finn ds2 is for the solo the ds1 just can’t compare at all to a ds2 in terms of sheer power
I think the Mxr micro amp is better ,that’s the one John uses
the most perfect cover ever performed - hands down
