me as an adult: why does the breakcore genre resonate so much with me?
me as a child: playing every armored core from 2 - 4 Answer
Geeze bro, I agree. I only realized when i started listening to AC osts again XD!
Probably the most depressing battle track from AC as a whole, still hits quite hard. GG
He, just as the player, were just trying to protect their loved ones. Fuck the corporations.
The Old King’s solution is truly the best ending.
@@haihuynh8772 Cheers.
@@haihuynh8772 Hell yeah.
You absolutely nailed the meaning of the song, fighting someone with opposite beliefs that once was a friend.
Armored Core has the best and most unique song in videogames, Remember and Stain are my favorites.
Not even opposite beliefs. Final boss was blackmailed into fighting you and destroying your home, or else the corporation he worked for would destroy his. He didn't want to. Neither did you, but you had lives to save.
Now that you mention it, he should really react to both of them. Day After Day would be even better since it was like the most recent rendition of Cosmos and from the last AC game ever released.
Fighting O’Brien was not fun. He was a friend that saved the players life.
It's the ace combat of armored core music!
@@nostalgicfanatic both franchises are the same tbh
It's interesting you noted that it's a callback to a theme, and you'd certainly be right. The style of the song is actually a callback to two themes, for two major characters. The callback is to Panther, with it's progression in it's drums and guitar, and a callback to the vocals from Prayer.
Fall -into the grace-
Lyrics
It is down for the count
Rise in heat
Fall in down
I've already fallen
I can't drive my head
It's that I fall in you
Fall in you
(Provided in the SUNRISE booklet)
This song plays when you fight Joshua O'Brien a former Next Ally of yours that was blackmailed into fighting you to protect his family and you end up having to kill him. It's a tragic mission and who would have thought a mecha game can make me cry.
Makes me compelled to do Old King's ending thousand times
1:15
Lyrics:
I've already fallen
I cant drive my head
its that i fall in you
Fall in you~
I wont forget this lyrics
Weirdly enough, the song seems to be from Joshua's perspective.
It's been a long time since FromSoftware has made an Armored Core game, or ANYTHING that is not Soulsborne related. This is a nice little reminder that this series exists, and am definitely looking forward to seeing again.
Rumor has it that the they will revived thebac series
Armored core is the first souls game
Reason: first ip and its extremely hard unpatched
@@naniboi585 dont think its too hard
@@naniboi585 Kingsfield is the first "Souls" game. The Elden Beast at the end of Elden Ring is a direct homage to the final boss of every single Kingsfield game. Giant dragon with singular eye.
@@Dizzifying1 wow my joke was ruined, nay my life has been ruined by this comment! I shan’t be alive any more!
What’s more emotional about this song is that you’re fighting your former comrade.
I listen to these and still feel my eyes darting back and forth across the screen keeping up with the chaos going on the screen. that brilliant dance at +1600kph.
I often consider when listening to the music the pumped up feeling I get is a lasting effect of the frenetic chaos that was happening when I first heard these songs. Love every second of it.
This is the song that plays while you have to fight your war buddy/rival Joshua O'Brien, the pilot of White Glint, the face of the 4th generation of the Armored Core series for the final time. You encounter him a few times, fighting with and against one another. Unfortunately, due to how the war between corporations plays out, you end up on different sides and have to battle to death, you coming out on top only to feel hollow.
I hope he gets to listen to "Something is always moving on the surface".
Love that track.
Ah the AC for Answer menu music... home
Greatest menu music in a videogame ever. Nothing ever tops Something is Always Moving on the Surface, such a melancholic, reflective tune for an otherwise batshit crazy (and very dark) game. Most soulful Armored Core I bet.
2:40 INSTANTLY nailed the original premise of the stage/soundtrack, without knowing the source material. You're really great at interpreting soundtracks in general!
This is the OST that plays in the very last mission in AC4. Your enemy is former friend and rival, Joshua O'Brien, pilot of the original White Glint. In this mission however, he left his old machine because the independend colony he works for, tasked him to pilot a new stronger prototype machine. This colony also ordered him to kill of the player and while he doesn't want to, he goes out to fight you, cause Joshua is indebted to the colony. He has no choice and marks this with a line a lot of players will remember "Guess there is little need for words. Hate away." and his dying words "This is...for the best"
But wait, there's more. The icing on the cake is: If you play the Hard mode variant of the stage, once you defeat Joshua another mercenary arrives and takes you on, which proves one thing storywise. The colony which Joshua fought for send a failsafe for if he's defeated or won't fight the player, another one has to take them both out. They didn't even had the trust in their strongest pilot, mentally and physically which is just heart breaking.
This is the premise of the stage and something a lot of people fondly remember cause Fall is such a great track to support the whole circumstances.
One minor correction, it wasn't the colony that put him up to it, but rather the corporation Omer Science. This is indicated by the fact that the 00-ARETHA, the NEXT he was operating, was a Rayleonard design which Omer would be in possession of. This is further reinforced by the fact that on hard mode Celo, an Omer Science loyal pilot is the one to drop in and clean things up. Its further and explicitly stated to be blackmail on the part of Omer Science in the original Japanese version, though this information was dropped during localization.
Omer's blackmail leverage was that said colony. They would have raised Aspina to the ground and eradicated its population had he not piloted the 00-ARETHA and done the same thing that was threatened to Anatolia, the player's home colony.
Ah, I forgot about the blackmailing part. In my memory, Omer Science and Aspina had close ties so I thought both of them forced Joshua to take the assignment.
Makes sense though. I use the japanese original ver. for orientation as well but completely glossed over this part.
Thanks for the additional knowledge
Another thing to mention:
00-ARETHA, Joshua's unit, isn't a "newer, stronger prototype" - it's _the original NEXT,_ sealed away because it's too dangerous, it spews enough radiation to kill the pilot during operation. Hence why Joshua, if he DOES kill you, says that he'll be right behind you soon.
Nailed it. I named my character in 4A Josh to honor him.
Sadly, not to heartbreaking. They’re all mercenaries, lives meant for eventual death
You're right in that there are tracks with recurring leitmotifs and melodies, usually across different games as callbacks or "hints" of continuity. For example:
Armored Core 3 has one leitmotif across (iirc) six tracks, four of which are titled "Artificial Sky" I, II, III, and IV.
However, the track "Spirit of Motherwill" in Armored Core for Answer is reprised in Armored Core: Verdict Day as "The Motherwill Comes Again."
Lot of armored core stuff recently.
Good.
4 and 4A need more love, alongside the rest of the series.
It dropped today
Personally, I'd love to hear your thoughts on "thinker reprise", mainly because it's my favourite armored core related ost ever.
I am hype for mech games. Especially, Armored Core and Front Mission. Those two are my fave from the genre.
You are Based
One thing that blew me away about this song is that right before the lyrics kick back in after the solo is that the drums begin to shift into a machine gun firing as if to directly connect the musical themes to the gameplay.
Even though you're fighting a friend turned foe, you have no choice but to give them everything you've got.
I highly recommend one from AC4A series they have such bangers too. Like "Mother of spirit will" to "Remember". With announcement to Armored Core 6 this best to hear most of the series music
Armored Core can get very difficult depending on how you approach a fight. I'd think the soulsborn fans would love it.
YOU NEED to see the teaser
Just FYI for any new Ravens: every AC game has an excellent soundtrack. It's what they were known for back in the day.
If you ever listen to Remember you gotta listen to Mechanized memories after it's such a twist
The song it's used in the final mission wish is a disillusioned linx
Try Panther from Armored Core 4, that song is freaking bangers.....especially when you got 4 vs 1 and you can't run from it
"You're late. ...No need for words..." (Activate the mecha's jet device and start the fight.)
this song has lyrics, alot of the song with vocals have lyrics its just they are hard to hear and its kind done like that on purpose
lyrics:
i've already fallen
i can't drive my head
its that i fall in you
ive already fallen
i can't drive my head
it that i've fallen
ive already fallen
i cant drive my head
the lyrics are weird but thats probably done on purpose or its just engrish since frequency is from's in house band and as we know they are japanese.
I love Fall and this guy is very interesting to watch, never knew I would need an opera singer in my feed before
Here I am 😂
It's funny you say that, cuz Armored core 4's final mission is literally that, a fight against someone you could call a friend. A fight you really didn't want to have.
You smack nail right on the head with that break down. I honestly have nothing else to say but that i like your analogy.
Literally got chills from the nostalgia playing AC4 when the vocals started. This song I’ve always held at high levels, like duel of the fates from SW or Clubbing to death from The Matrix 🥹🥹
“hey buddy… i guess there’s little need for words…”
Good song
Amazing Analysis! I'm not sure how much how experienced you are in the Armored Core Franchise but it is accurate as you hit the nail on the head. Joshua and Anatolia Merc really shouldn't have been on opposing sides to that extent but were forced to anyways. The Melody is quite something else when the Rythem and Drums start syncing in a up and down stroke. You have quite the preception to how the songs paints the picture of that final battle.
Armored Core 6 my brothas
Armored core is a series I missed out on so I hope there’s a new one
And that it’s good
There's no such thing as "miss", what's important is that you've discovered it
Just play Armored Core For Answer with a Xenia emulator and you will discover something wonderful
Also, the one that plays when you're fighting White Glint in Armored Core: For Answer hit different. I think it's called remember but not 100%. Fight always mad me kinda sad.
Since Elden Ring I've been very curious how Armored Core would be in an open-world setting, but even if it's not open-world or even just Armored Core, I'm super excited for any From game.
I was thinking that it could be in a style similar to what tarkov is aspiring to with its open world. Where, like in previous armored core games, you're setting out to complete your contracts and missions but you have to navigate and chart a course through the open world and all of its dangers as a warzone to get there. I doubt that's exactly what'd they'd go for as we have no idea what they could be planning with regards to the armored core formula but that's how I would see an open world ac work.
@@glockenspiel604 I'm not familiar with Tarkov but have heard good things, and that sounds like it'd translate very well to Armored Core. If they do a modern city, it'd also be really cool to get a lot of verticality. That'd also allow interesting interconnected sections, Dark Souls made a lot of use of it too.
@@Gnurklesquimp What I described is what the tarkov devs are working to create but they don't have all the gameplay mechanics and systems worked out for it yet so currently the game just has generally large levels that players and ai all spawn in and have to reach an extraction point to not die and lose most of what you were carrying. The closes thing to tarkovs goal that exists rn is the stalker games which tarkov is heavily inspired by though it is a single player game only so perhaps that is more similar to what an open world ac world would look like.
@@glockenspiel604 Interesting, I do think I watched someone play through Stalker once and loved it, can't wait to see if Fromsoft may do anything along these lines
I don't think that would work out well. Atleast not how Armored Core worked in the past. Like, there is no healing without repair tricks and it's a mission based series. You would be going to base, getting your kit, then wandering across open ground to do a mission in a banged up AC with half ammo just so you can walk all the way back to base for refit and repair. The other side would to have a transport, but if you do that you don't need the open world. I just don't see what it would add to the experience.
I'd love to see you tackle the songs from older games, AC4 leaned pretty hard into the alternative rock sound, the older games had lots of techno influence so I'm eager to see what your thoughts on the songs from Nexus, 3 and Another Age are like.
Also Remember from AC4A and Mechanized Memories from ACVD are a reprise I’d be really interested to see how you feel about them, the AC OSTs need more love they’re masterpieces
This stuff is good but the hard techno tracks from this series will always be my favorites!!
i love the metallic sound of the guitar on this theme, alsi t's very meaningufull and powerfull.
Hearing this theme while fighting white Glint . . . my god .
You should do "thinker" next the reprise is pretty good in my opinion
The later Armored core games had a very different sound since FreQuency took over the soundtrack. You should try some of the earlier games like Nexus. Autobahn and Electro Arm with Emotion are some of my favorites from that
FreQuency is made up of people who have been doing the Armored Core soundtracks since at least AC3.
I knew something sounded familiar
If they make another armored core, I hope it is more like 4 and for answer, the fast pace and the mechdesigns were unreal
my favorite is still Apex in Circle from the classic Armored Core series.
Bro best music and game franchise ever
I loved AC4 and For Answer had alot of fun with them in my early adult hood
I got so surprised that what you got from the song is really what's happing in the game!
Outro for Armored Core For Answer is gorgeous
I've played all of the Armored Core games and am super excited about the prospect of a new one. I would like for them to go back to the speed and nature of Armored Core: Silent Line because AC4 and 4A felt a little too fast for my taste.
Huh, I personally found 4 and 4A to be much more enjoyable specifically because of how speedy they were. The rest of the games have always felt a bit clunky to me.
@@SpectralWaltz I'm biased for sure. Between. Also having played the older games when they released I also played Steel Battalion when it came out so I have a love for the "clunk".
AC4 is too fast for me too, maybe because I'm used to the clunkiness (which I think is more of a realistic approach to a giant mech). AC5 is my least favorite thou... they felt more like Front Mission than AC for me.
My favorite is still Last Raven and Master of Arena, Silent Line and Project Phantasma are also pretty intense (in a good way).
i want the opposite, i hope i can make an even faster armored core
I haven't played AC in awhile, but I remember really enjoying it (really scratched that Gundam itch, although it's not quite the same).
Tus videos llegan hasta el habla hispana. Por favor reacciona a "Day After Day", seguramente te encantará, es una de las canciones de Armored Core que transmite más fuerza con su ritmo :D
Liquid: I have been waiting for this!!!!! I grew up on armored core can cant freaking wait!
Man you should really listen to "Remember" from the same game, then continued with a fan remix called "Do you Remember? Take 2" which combine all of the tracks you listen into one glorious Music with the Added Visuals from the game Cutscenes and trailer for that extra immersion
I'd just like to point out that Remember is from For Answer, not AC4.
@@fusioncell7669 Oh yeah always forgot how silly japanese are with their naming sometimes lol
This is one of my favorites

Sir, right now, you care more about this game series than FromSoft does.
Yes, I'm bitter that they flat out abandoned us and gave us absolutely nothing for eight-and-a-half years and counting, how could you tell?
Once Raven alway Raven man
But will you continue the mission once the target has been verified?
Bet you're happy to be wrong, right?

@@additiveartificer9365 True.
Love the 4 and 4answer sound tracks
I’m HYPER hoping for it to be an Armored Core game. I played all but the first.
If you like Fall, I highly recommend you do a raction to With Heat from the same Armored Core 4 game.
Highly recommend the gris soundtrack such underated music so majestic
God I hope so God I hope so I just would like some remasters can I have some remasters I just want remasters of the original games that will make me pretty fucking happy
Oh ya, you bet we're in a bit of a tizzy, to say the least. There were some blurred-out screenshots in that leak, which might be fake but that doesn't stop mecha nuts like me from hoping.
Fall is a good song. I also suggest listening to For Answer's theme "Someone is always moving on the Surface", Last Raven's weird but cool menu theme "5 point Five" & Verdict Day's theme "Day After Day".
I also very much vibe with Silent Line's theme song variations & Apex In Circle which was Master of Arena's main theme but I dunno if I should recommend them. They are very short songs.
Wish there's a hd remaster since I can't play my copies
Highly recommend giving the theme darkeater midir a listen

I've never had the chance to play an Armored Core game, but I'd love to experience a FromSoftware game in a different genre than what we've gotten since Demon's Souls (excluding that VR game they did recently). Mecha games aren't really a genre I play in, but depending on how it's done I'm down for giving it a try. It'd be interesting if they were do anything more with King's Field, but I'm not sure if those games get too close to the Souls games in terms of genre even though the King's Field games are in first person. Speaking on King's Field, it'd be interesting to see a reaction to Dark Reality from King's Field 4. It's a pretty simple tune with a relatively short loop, but it's a great little track. The repeated loop reminds me of Lullaby for Mergo from Bloodborne, and a bit of Gwyn's theme as well in terms of the feel of the piece.
Armored Core 4- Sound you smash has actual Opera, though in the background
Or AC4-MR.Adam which is the opening cinematic song

super late to the party - actually discovered you recently through your warframe video - this was great!
If you're willing to listen to unofficial music, listen to "Do you remember?" by USUDA. It's a fan remix of several AC4/4A songs that's gone through several iterations. I think it captures the spirit of the 360/ps3 generation's sound.
id like to hear your take on Precious park from AMORED CORE FORANSWER, or songs from Evergrace and Forever Kingdom
Song where by the same Composer Kota Hoshino
Wish I could grow a beard like you
If they do make a new one I do have high hopes for it. Most of the Armored Core games I liked and the bad ones where off shoots of off shoots. I did read the leaks though and they are kind of from a person that doesn't play any mech games or seems to know much beyond Dark Souls. The images looked like ACV but with mechs and gear that never showed up in the game so maybe. Can only keep our fingers crossed.

song plays when your forced to fight your friend
I remember hearing this song for the first time. I had arived at Anitolia, my home town. There stood an uknown enemy amist the flames of my home. Flames he set himself. His goal was clear. To destroy me in battle. So many emotions went threw my head as the voice of Feonas last cries for me to run still echoed in my head. I did not know her fate as his voice crackled over the mic. It was joshuas. I had no time to even think as his first shot streaked across the battle field at me. In a moment of haste, I reacted. Then... the rest was a blur of bullets and boosters, but then it wasnt. I stood there at the remains of my enemy.. my friend... I heard nothing but the creaks of metal and crackles of fire
"Hate away..."
